There is quite a buzz building around the net about the indy wrestler CM Punk.

He wrestles in ROH and I believe TNA (maybe just recently).

What I want to know, from those who've seen his work this year....

Is CM Punk just hype or a good all-around wrestler?

Can't really help here, because I've only seen one match with him, and that was a HEAVILY clipped match with Raven a few weeks back on MLW. But, he is one of the better promos, and his MLW feud with Raven has my definite vote for 'Feud of the Year' so far. It's the only feud I've been really interested in for a while.

There has? This is the very first time i've heard anybody say anything about him. Oh well. I have to agree with OMEGA, the only thing i've seen him in is his feud with Raven in MLW and I've enjoyed it. But then again Raven can have a good feud with just about anybody.

Good worker, really good on the mic, great gimmick, but his lack of size will probably prevent him from going to WWE.

I'd say him, Christopher Daniels, and Steve Corino are probably the best mic workers of any "Cruiserweight" out there in or out of WWE.

He's the real deal. Just an obnoxious heel, with his whole "I'm-better-than-you" straight edge gimmick.

We discussed CM Punk in this Wienerboard RoH thread, and folks seemed cool on him. When we brought him into ACW in 2001, it worked like a charm.

Plus, the dude takes direction. I had a couple of suggestions for him in cutting a backstage promo, and he gladly took the input. So his head's on right, too...all too rare in the indies these days. Yay Punk.

His feud with Raven is a perfect of example of one of the many reasons why I love pro-wrestling.

Only in pro-wrestling could you have a feud between a filthy drug-addict and a guy who promotes being drug and alcohol-free. But the guy promoting being drug/alcohol-free is the villain while the filthy drug-addict is the heroic babyface.

God, I love this business.

I've seen CM on some indy shows around here, and he is definitely a solid worker and as said before a hell of a promo. I'm not sure how far the straight edge gimmick can go before it reaches something of a ceiling, but hopefully by that point it will have morphed into a less specific all-around asshole heel character.

I dunno, it should be better than last week. The JBL/Angle swerve is roughly 100 times better than the Joy crapola, even if does form part of the same angle.
