In an effort to continue to make our interface more user friendly (and hopefully keep some of you from ending up with all-italics posts), I've changed the way quoting tags are used.

The old, confusing [quotehead], [quotemid] and [quoteend] tags have been replaced with hopefully less confusing [quote] and [/quote] tags. To quote text, bookend it with them two.

To include a user's name, add it into the "quote" tag. F'rinstance, use "[quote CRZ]" and "[/quote]" and the familiar

Or is this description too confusing? :)

Nope. Makes sense. I had been doing a COPY TEXT, "CRZ said:" "[qoute]" PASTE TEXT "[/qoute]" in order to avoid the Italics issue, which looked like:

Cool.

Note: Quote is misspelled on purpose as I don't know those fancy HTML tricks like Chris.

Anything to make it easier for us less coding literate folks is always appreciated!

Thanks!

It was bound to happen sooner or later

I just had something odd happen -- maybe a weird interaction between quote & link keywords? (Or maybe I'm just being dense & missing something obvious.)

Copy the following (resulting) line, paste it into a "create a post" window, & hit "Preview Reply". I see confused ugliness...

[quote Some Guy] something [/quote]blablabla [link Here]http://wienerboard.com[/link]moreblablabla

Results look like this...

I'll try to fix this later, but you should probably use a linefeed to separate your pairs of tags for now if you really need to do this.

No urgency needed on my behalf -- I worked around it already, using "a href" directly. (A linefeed, eh? That's interesting!)

I have to admit, I'm almost never lurking on here, but I really should spend some more time logged out because the choice of banner ads that have shown up here recently have been....kinda bizarre. Mostly the Nexium ones, yeah. What's up with that?
