Actually... it would be pronounced Saske... the u is kinda blended into the pronounciation of it. they wouldn't say it as sa-su-ke... that'd be like an american pronounciation of it... Listen to some Japanese videos and you'll hear "Gure-to Saske"

What other crazy moves do you all know that many of us in the US without much access to PURO should know about.

edit: sorry... I didn't know that RKMtwin already covered this.

hmm.. what Joshi wrestlers go by the name Momo... or did they mean momo latch as in Thigh latch...

The description of the Emerald Fusion sounds a lot like what I thought was called "The Steiner Death Driver" and I think Rikishi uses it today and they call it the "Rikishi Driver"

I saw Scott Steiner do it on Nitro one of their first nights back from Japan and I thought it was the most devastating maneuver ever.

Is this the same move, or is it different?

Similar but the opponent is on the side, over the shoulder. And normally their head is held too.

Here's the pic Talena was trying to post earlier but it's from Geocities so it didn't show up:

I'm pretty sure Jake Roberts' DDT has nothing to do with Damian. When I first started watching wrestling (early '80s), Jake was using the DDT on Georgia Championship Wrestling and that was a few years before he went to the WWF and started carrying his snake Damien to the ring with him.

I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.

Scott Steiner uses a move called the "Screwdriver", which basically starts as a normal vertical suplex, he then holds them there for a second and then falls on his butt, driving his opponents down with an inverted piledriver.

Truly devastating, and awesome visual. It's way too dangerous to use in the WWE now. If you do a search on google for "Steiner Screwdriver" your bound to find an animated .gif of it.

EDIT: You can also find a good representation of it in the old N64 wrestling games, Steiner has for it a special in those games.

I've heard that DDT stands for "Damn Devastating Terror".

Hasn't the DDT been around since before Jake? I always thought it was named after the chemical.

I was watching tape of a match from 1986, and Lanny Poffo used a rana to defeat the great Tiger Chung Lee. That most certainly pre-dates Steiner, but I'd safely wager that Leapin' Lanny wasn't the first either.

I was thinking Owen myself actually... but he's canadian.

and to clarify the skytwister--they spin sideways. Hector Garza did the plancha version aka corkscrew plancha. Ultimo used to do it as the Cancun tornado. someone else does it as the kankuu tornado, and Riot of WOW turned hers into an elbow.

I heard the DDT actually originated in Japan, and stood for "Deadly Drop Technique."

there is a martialarts style move that is similar, but DDT is off the poison and there are various phrases people claim it really is...heck, even Japan has a promotion called Dynamic Dream Team.
