I got home late, so I missed the O'Hare match, but the rest of the show was excellent.

I'm not sure if I'd say that Ernest Miller has improved to the point that he doesn't suck on commentary, but he's much, much better than he was when he first started on Velocity. At least he's talking more than he's silent. His hatred of Zach Gowan is entertaining as well. (And I'm one of the ppl who likes Gowan, I can only imagine it's even more fun for the people who agree with The Cat.) Josh Matthews has noticeably improved from when he started as well and I'd dare say he's at least "good" at this point.

Orlando Jordan vs. Kanyon was a decent match. Some good innovative offense from Kanyon, as always. I've come to realize that Kanyon is a lot like the cruiserweights in that he'll have several impressive "spots" in his matches, it's just that his spots are usually not-especially-risky but still creative. Jordan had a nice finishing maneuver which Josh apparently didn't know the name of but at least called it accurately as an inverted neckbreaker. Basically, it's a stunner with your opponent facing the other direction. I'm sure somebody here will know what it's called.

It's natural to assume that Funaki vs. A-Train is going to suck, but these guys have faced each other so often (I bet they've had over 100 televised matches, let alone house shows) that you can tell they're just having fun against each other. Funaki gets in a lot of offense and A-Train chases Josh around the ring as well. Line of the night from the Cat. "You've got to stay here and fight. Weren't you on Tough Enough? Oh, that's right, you lost." A-Train wins with the Train Wreck.

Adversely to the last match, I'm sure everyone just assumed that Nunzio vs. Spanky would be an excellent match. It didn't come off quite as well as I would have hoped, but it was definitely an entertaining match. Seemed like the pacing was off just a bit, though. I thought Nunzio had knocked Spanky out with that top rope drop kick, Spanky sold that one like a master. Nunzio wins clean by countering Sliced Bread #2 into an Ariva Derci (which I'm sure I spelled completely wrong.)

Overall a worthwhile show. I'd voice my opinion of Confidential, as well, but I'm more interested in seeing Gail Kim actual wrestle before I hear her talk about how winning the women's championship (and possibly being the longest reigning champion to never have a singles match) was a dream come true. And I doubt I'd watch Stone Cold hosting VH1 on VH1, let alone a "behind the scenes" look on TNN. Maybe Josh will have someone good to interview in Between the Ropes or whatever his segment is called.

Wasn't the move Orlando used the same as Danny Doring's "Bare Back"?

1st match was OK, but SOH sold way too much. Geez, it's Bobby Rude, SOH should have outright squashed him.

Wasn't the Franchiser a chickenwing jawbreaker?

Or am I remembering it completely wrong?

Jordan vs. Kanyon - I find it funny how Kanyon, who just randomly reappeared on TV/Live Shows without any promotion, was getting some pretty strong "Kanyon Sucks" chants from the crowd after only a month of so of being back. Yet Jordan, whose been pushed the last few weeks with matches on Smackdown and segments with UnderTaker, got little to nothing from the crowd. Somebody in the back has to be noticing this.

I only saw the last 10 minutes of Velocity, and I have to say one thing:

I'm REALLY getting sick of their treatment of Spanky! Can't they give this guy a chance? Just a CHANCE?!?! He and Nunzio put on a match better than (outside of some of the tag matches) anything I have seen on SmackDown in a long time.

But, just because he's small, he can't get out of Velocity. Orlando Jordan and Billy FUCKIN' Gunn can get respectable pushes, but one of the most talented workers on the roster CAN'T! Because he's not a huge muscular freak! Yeah Vince, you definitley encourage your superstars not to take steroids, don't you?

I'm sorry, but it's really starting to piss me off. Oh, and for everyone excited about the signing of Paul London; I've got news for ya'. I was watching the 6/02 ROH show, and London and Spanky were in the ring together, and were the EXACT SAME SIZE! So anyone expecting London to get past Velocity hell are fooling themselves.

Josh has definitely gotten up to "good" in the face of the adversity which is The Cat. I think Cat has 2 purposes. First, by comparison, Howler Monkey & JR are brilliant, lucid, insightful, involved, focused commentators. Second, this is expedited trial torture for Josh -- if he can survive time with Cat, without either walking out or thwapping Cat on camera, then he's paid decades worth of dues. The downside of both of those points is that we have to put up with listening to him.

I thought it was a pretty good show. I continue to think that they're really making an effort to make the weekend shows better in their own right.

I think Sean is working on developing & polishing his current character/persona. He was very much working his character into the ringwork, with a healthy dose of arrogant overconfidence, which allows the opponent to get in some offence. I was happier to see a bit more of a match than just a squash.

I think they *are* giving Spanky a chance. He's been main eventing Velocity a lot lately. Yes, it's Velocity not Smackdown, but the fact that they put him on as the main event repeatedly shows that they recognize he's talented.

Also, he's gotten repeated non-match time on Velocity as well. There was the skit where he delivered the tainted pizza to the FBI this week. A couple of weeks ago, they did a skit where Josh and The Cat pulled up in a limo and then Spanky comes bounding in behind them on a pogo stick and tried to get the valet to park it for him. If they were really overlooking Spanky, they wouldn't bother giving him any television time.

The problem is, much like the women on RAW, they're only going to push a single cruiserweight storyline at a time. Before long, we'll see Spanky back on Smackdown mixing it up with Ultimo Dragon & Rey Mysterio. Just give it a chance, because this is one instance where the WWE shows signs of biding their time.

Josh has improved since his debut as announcer. The Cat however still sucks.

As for Spanky, ever since Zach debuted, Spanky hasn't been on that much. Which is sad because I like Spanky.

Also, A-Train's feud with Josh will be just as successful as the Hardcore Holly-Mark Loyd feud from last year.

Well, at least Josh can theoretically wrestle, if need be.

SOH, back to squashing jobbers, for now. I could see Daffney pairing up with him.

Kanyon is has created a new positon on the Wienerboard; Jobber to the Rookies. Too bad, as at least Josh is trying to push him. Josh is doing good, but he spends too much time getting tied up in Cat's nonesense.

Funaki's burrying is just a damn shame and puts a black eye on wrestling booking. He should be with Tajiri and they should be not only lighting up the CW scene but Tag ranks as well.

Spanky and Nunzio at least each got significant periods of swank offence in and really mixed it up between the mat and te air. That should have been and SD match. Spanky is trying to keep noticed, especially with Dragon back.

You know, Wrestlemania should come to my home town of Los Angeles...hold on one minute! Los Angeles hasn't had a Wrestlemania in 14 years (Wrestlemania VII at the LA Sports Arena which I also attended). So i'm glad they're coming back.
