WWE has indeed signed the former WCW female superstar, Shannon “Daffney” Ward, to a developmental contract. They have told her that she cannot honor her indy commitments later this month.

Personally I think it's great, Daffney was always one of the few WCW female superstars I actually enjoyed watching. Midayja was a close second though.

Hopefully the second part means they're planning on bringing her up to the main roster soon. She should manage Sean O'Haire.

We scream with joy. We scream with anticipation.

We're Daffney fans. We just scream for the hell of it.

I thought, for some reason, her real name was Shannon Spruill. I could be wrong...

Anyways, I think the key to using Daffney is to have her as a comedy valet type, in other words almost EXACTLY how they used her in WCW as David Flair's manager. If they make her too serious a character, it probably won't work.

That said, I'm hoping for the best with her. Hmmmm, maybe she could debut as another loony woman vying for the affections of Stevie Richards. That would make for decent TV...

Honestly, this is some of the coolest news I've read in a while. Paired with Kanyon, those two would be hilarious!

Spruill is her maiden name. She married Rich Ward of Stuck Mojo.

Anyway, I also thought that her and Victoria might be a good feud to see and the idea of her as O'Haire's valet sounds enticing too. I agree that they should just use her similar to her WCW role. It worked and it was great. Daff's being good at goofy. That's her thing.

Damn.

I thought this was about Gorgeous George.

She makes incredible audition videos, I hear.

So when do we get to see Daffney vs. Stephanie in a screech-off match to the death?

I always thought Daffney was very entertaining and had a very unique look.

I like her as the goth/punk girl and think she plays that role well (better than Lita every thought of playing it). I hear she has been training in the ring too so she'll probably go to RAW.

She could be a good addition if they use her right, which of course means they won't and we'll see her once every two months with IVory and Molly.

I liked when Daffney was at ringside and the camera would just cut to her screaming.

All that's left is for them to sign Crowbar. Get O'Haire as Crowbar's partner with Daffney as their second. That would be pretty cool.

A great comment from "The Torch":

WWE signed former WCW valet Daffney to a contract this past week. Vince McMahon is excited about the new signing and looks forward to writing segments that allow him to make out with her on TV.

Ha! Though I don`t think she`s Vince`s type...he seems to prefer Barbies only.

I hope they leave her WCW character alone. What made her so cool was that she never really said much other than the screaming.

My favorite Daffney moment was when she stole an entire segment from The Nature Boy. Ric was cutting a promo on David. He was his usual intense self, and he was talking to his own son but I simply could not pay attention because of Daffney. She was just standing behind him, rolling her eyes, doing the little “blah, blah, blah” hand puppet gesture and yawning. It was gold.

I hope they keep her as a valet also. Victoria already does the crazy girl wrestler. We need a crazy girl valet to counter Stacy, Torrie, and Gayda (I just love saying Gayda, look I said it again). Yes, those three have all done matches but I think we all know how that turned out.

Again, I HOPE this is what they will do but this is the WWE we are talking about here. They usually do a good job of pissing on my hopes.

Something tells me you don't have kids.

Daffney's cool, but the screaming isn't. It's stupid and annoying and if she was standing in front of me when she did it I'd probably put her head through a wall. That it was the extent of her "character" doesn't say much for WCW's writers.

Let's hope the WWE has something more for her to do than shriek like an ass.

I like Daffney, she was pretty cool in WCW. I digged her... I do find it interesting that Victoria is really doing the psycho character and is doing it really well. IMO better then Daffney mostly because it's not as exaggerated as Daffney did it and I think that's why I like Victoria's more.

So are they going to play on the similar characters and make her have some sort of story with/against Victoria on Raw... Or will she be on Smackdown and do this character that's really not seen on Smackdown and I think it could really stand out. But unfortunately it seems like the only girls that allow to do anything on SD are playboy models and McMahons
