Reading SI today, I began to wonder who SI will pick as its yearly Sportsperson of the year, an award that usually combines sportsmanship with athletic achievement. At this point, the likely contenders....

*Annika Sorenstam
*Tim Duncan
*David Robinson
*Arturo Gatti & Mickey Ward
*Kurt Angle (just kidding)

I think a Robinson/Duncan combo would probably be the front-runner, though we still have an entire NFL season and baseball postseason to consider in the fall.

Oliva: You are the weakest link! Goodbye!

Stewie: Ahahaha. Oh God, that's funny. That's really funny. You write your own material? Do you? Because that is so fresh. 'You are the weakest link. Goodbye!' You know I've never heard anyone make that joke before. You're the first. I've never heard anyone reference that outside program before. Because that's what she says on the show, right? Hmmm? 'You are the weakest link. Goodbye!' And ye...ye..yet you've taken it and....and used it out of context to insult me in this everyday situation. What a clever, smart girl you must be. To come up with a joke like that all by yourself. Mmmmm...that's so fresh too. Any Titanic jokes you want to throw at me as long as we're hitting these phenomena at the height of their popularity. Mmmm? Cuz i'm here God you're so funny!

According to Jim Nantz, Soremstam won after her first round at the Colonial.

I would have voted for Arturo Gatti & Mickey Ward, they made boxing legitimate again... Class acts and story

I've never heard of those guys (admittedly I'm not really a boxing fan). And they made boxing legitimate? What did they do, murder Don King?

I think I agree with Nantz, I think Soremstam has this in the bag, regardless of what happens the rest of the year.

You know when you watch a great wrestling match with people who aren't wrestling fans and you can see they got into it and you can point to what they just watched and proudly say "See, THAT'S why I like wrestling!" That's what Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward did for boxing fans with their three fights. Just two great guys kicking each other's asses for 30 rounds, the having respect for each other before, during, and after the fights.

I'd pick Annika.

Awww, that's no fun! But at least the article gives us this: A bit on the extreme side? That's it? Then again, since apparently multiple-days-long traffic jams are NOT a freak occurrence, maybe this really wasn't that big a deal. Craziness, I say!
