RVD v Goldust stole the show for me, but will probably pick up about *1/2 from the Netgod.

About two pages back someone said (sorry i dont remember your name, i just copied and read on):

HHH will get his title shot back, otherwise what kind of backstage monster is he if he can't even weasel his way into the main at WrestleMania?

After reading this it hit me:
Now we will get a month of people yapping about HHH being all about backstage power and getting his shot back, instead of something interesting like 'the face has to fight hard to get his shot at the main title' ...
Interesting TV folks..
IMO Jericho is now for sure to be in the main event..other than that..nothing is certain..

That bit with Scott Hall wanting to have beers with the boys was priceless. But I think he looked the most worn-out of the three, even worse than Hogan.

Maybe we'll see Rock/Austin vs. the Outsiders? They need to get one more WWF guy into the mix.

Well, for the regular fan let me say this:
"YES, ROCK WON, ROCK WON! F-U INTERNET MARKS AND YOUR CANADAIN HERO WORSHIPING"

Ok, I'm better. As a PPV, it was ok. For the most part, I thought the crowd was pretty alive till the Regal/Edge match. I too would have fallen asleep during that match. Regal is not that great of a wrestler and his tiger drivers are not getting any reaction from the fans, not even an minor reaction. My friend suggested RVD/Regal, I hope that happens tomorrow, so they can get the belt off him soon. HHH/Angle did a good job with their match. Its odd that Jericho had help from the NWO to get his win considering their past relationship. The NWO got a pop as did everything they did. If anything, Rock going off on them was worth the price of the Pay Per View.

A Fan- Even, a Jercholic like myself gets tired of this like minded response from so-called smart fans.

rvd - regal would be a good match for mania.

angle - jericho would be a good match but you can't really sell a heel / heel main event. it would be an interesting twist on the past two years' mania mains, though. first triple h won as a bad guy, shocking everyone. well, shocking me. last year austin turned heel mid match to beat rock.

i've got a gut feeling the nwo will figure into the world title decision. someone turns to win or keep it.

and scott hall looks like shit.

I'd like to see RVD/Goldust have a rematch.

I like Regal, I really do, but his style just doesn't mesh with anyone right now.

I liked how the NWO were involved in the Jericho win without having Jericho actually join them.

The best part of the Rock/UT match was when UT was sitting on his bike getting the lead pipe, and some fan yelled "You shoulda bought a Harley!" Hey, it's Milwaukee, after all.

I'm not really that crazy about Flair/Undertaker on its face. Flair can carry UT into a good match, but it doesn't seem credible for a now-retired Flair to be a threat to the Undertaker.

Sounded like a decent show, but what's the point of having so many backstage skits during a PPV? Wouldn't it be better to reintroduce these guys with skits on free t.v. when more people are watching. Oh, well other than a few markout moments I *think* I did the right thing by saving myself 30 bucks, but then again I always feel as if I missed out on something.

A lot of people online have been touting the possiblity of seeing Austin vs. Hogan, even as early as RAW.

That would mark the first time since Starrcade 1997 that I'd actually be looking forward to a Hogan match.

Austin got beat up and spraypainted, huh? Sweet. No better way exists to build heat than to beat up Steve Austin. Particularly when one leaves him spraypainted in the middle of the ring.

I agree that the WrestleMania main event is most likely not final yet. Triple H will get a shot somehow-- probably in a triple threat match would be my guess. I'm pleasantly surprised that Jericho retained, though-- I was thinking the nWo was going to interfere in the #1 contender match. But Stephanie screwed around in that match enough herself.

So, Austin vs. an nWo member at WrestleMania. Probably Hall. Rock vs. an nWo member at WrestleMania. Probably Hogan? Flair vs. The Undertaker?

I don't think we will see Flair/Taker..
Flair will say he does respect him and somebody will come to defend him. Who says the Taker/Rock thing is over yet?
"You beat me boy, but at WM *I* am unbeaten, how about you?"

If Regal is that boring btw why would an RVD-Regal match be that much better than Regal-Edge?

Austin-Hogan on Raw? Expect another Austin beatdown. The nWo won't job. And that is not bitching, but simple storyline..if they job now then what is their power? Austin will be close to winning when the fucking him over starts..time and time again..and in this case it's a good thing. Because that means in the end he will destroy Hogan.

Quite true, dMp!

It's far too early for the nWo to lose any heat by doing a clean job. Eventually, if Austin/Hogan does go down as a feud, Austin will beat Hogan. But if it happens tonight, yeah, a screwjob is most likely. Or Hogan gets the win through nWo shenanigans.

Having any of these nWo idiots actually have matches at this time would be a huge mistake. They're completely out of shape! (and I'm not talking about their physiques) After one minute of activity, they were huffing and puffing, completely out of breath. What a sad, desperate, unfunny joke they've become.
As a whole, the show was awful, especially considering that the price has gone up. And whoever's responsible for writing the nWo's debut should give back their paycheck.

Shea, I expected some negative feedback from this show. While I liked it, I could certainly see why some people would not. However, I think you are exagerating things *just* a bit.

It was really hard to sum up this PPV, but I can't say I have any major complaints (except for Test losing, but that's obvious Canadian bias). I think CRZ said it best....now what?

I must admit, the nWo opening promo got my attention, especially Hogan's comments. Hogan said a lot of things that I've personally been hoping he'd say - I was just hoping he'd say them in an interview, not on a PPV.

So now I'm forced to wonder; were Hogan's comments about the nWo getting a chance from the fans and his thanks to Vince sincere (a 'shoot', if you will)? Or was it just part of the show? They certainly seemed awfully sincere. Nothing really happened in the show to tie in to that promo at all. I was encouraged by what I heard and saw from the 3 of them last night.

...Am I thinking too much again?

I'm going to jump on the 'god damnit, I like it!' bandwagon and say that I pretty much liked the whole show.. I personally would have _rather_ seen Christian(!) and Storm go over in the turmoil, and my predictions were off.. (I wound up 3/7 on wins for the night.. I should have bet on wins in the pool) but I think that the show set up things the right way angle wise and all, and pushed things along without fucking them up. Taker/Rocky may or may not be over.. and the story _could_ make sense either way. The nWo promo at the start was a good way to set them up, and the run in at the end had a lot of heat going on for them.. so maybe Steph didn't kill all their buildup?

All in all, I'm more excited about wrestling right now.. and I didn't really see any of that huffing and puffing you're talking about and I watched the end twice.. They were playing jackasses, which may result in random twitching I guess.. but hey..

When the show ended, it made me wish I didn't have to wait 22 hours until RAW, so I guess it did its job. I want to know what's going to happen next, and it's been a while since that's happened.

With the benefit of a little more hindsight, my main criticisms are that the undercard was really weak, except for RVD/Goldust. Some of that is just because the IC and Tag divisions are so bad right now. I had no interest in the Tag or IC title matches last night. And I really hope they make some changes between now and Wrestlemania, because a Taz/Spike-Acolytes matchup is totally unappealing. The tag turmoil could have gone to Christian/Storm or Chuckabilly, and it would have made more sense. About the only thing interesting was the Hardys being put down by Ross and Lawler.

Another low point was the Mr. Perfect appearance. What was the point of that? Are they pointing to some kind of angle where Mr. Perfect loses his mind or has some kind a substance abuse problem? Is he going to join the NWO and have a double drunk angle with Hall?

I think I liked HHH/Angle best of the three headliners, mainly due to the tweak on the old crooked ref trick of counting slow due to a sore arm.

Just a couple of thoughts...

The opening nWo promo was a little weird given how the storyline was set up for their return, but how could you not enjoy it? The fans were just happy to see those guys back and all three looked incredibly psyched to be there... Hall having to be reminded to not have any beers with the boys was priceless.

Was it just me or were the Hardys incredibly sloppy last night? Both Dvon and Billy were bleeding hardway courtesy of Matt... I always thought their style was pretty loose anyways, but last night it was to the point that even my girlfriend thought something was up.

Billy's sell of the Clothesline From Hell was great. It's little things like that keep the WWF keep from giving up on him you know...

RVD vs Goldust was a little slow I thought, but they made up for it with some original spots (that first slingshot into the backbreaker was VICIOUS; the 2nd time not so much)and the right guy won. If they're gonna do a rematch as JR implied, then I'm all for it, but if thats the case then lets see Goldust pick up the pace with the ambiguous antagonism that got him over in the first place... that way the crowd isn't just responding to RVD's charisma and spots but to the storyline.

Taker vs Rock was ok. Nothing great. The seeds seem to be sown for a Taker/Flair match, which I'm really not looking forward to, unless it's a street fight.

I can easily see the Wrestlemania main event becoming Angle/Jericho/HHH at this point, mainly because Stephanie has history with all 3 guys and I don't see her getting out of the spotlight any time soon goddammit. Triple H looked completely rabid after the match, and I was totally waiting for Kurt and Stephanie to start hugging.

The nWo attack on Austin and the ending image of him lying in the ring with nWo spray painted on his back was awesome... all that was missing was a growing pile of soda cups and debris, which I think would have happened if they hadn't cut that opening promo.

Jericho is still Undisputed World Champion, and that makes me a happy guy.

However, I think you are exagerating things *just* a bit.

well, if you must know ... yeah (You caught me, Perry Mason!)
BUT
Was it my imagination, or was the crowd totally dead for most of those last 4 matches? Their reaction mirrored my own.
AND
As for huffing and puffing: check out Hall and Nash at the end of the show. Hall's mouth is open, Nash's is closed, both are breathing hard (you can tell by their stomachs) and trying not to show it. This after having to (hardly)move around for a few minutes.
Not to mention the fact that the opening promo was lame.
I still say they should've had them (one of them, at least)make a surprise appearance at the Rumble. All in all, I definitely did not feel like I got my money's worth.
