Assuming the WWE knew things were going somewhat bad with Piper, why the hell didn't the tag match on Smackdown end something like this: O'Haire dominates, hits his finisher on Tajiri, tags Piper in, Piper taunts Tajiri and waits too long and gets misted, kicked, frog splashed, it's over. Now the real match was similar to this, but after the match-- O'Haire should have told Piper that they are a great team and Piper still has it, finishing with "I'm not telling you anything you don't already know!" O'Haire goes to hug Piper, grabs him and pulls him in with his finisher (if Piper couldn't take it, let it be a kick), then O'Haire climbs up top and hits 2 Seanton bombs. Piper is strechered out while O'Haire just laughs at him and cuts a promo about how he is his own man. If the WWE KNEW Piper was gone, O'Haire could have gotten over even more by simply punking Piper out, beating him up, and the WWE saying that's why he's gone.

Do you honestly think Piper would have gone along with that, though? If he knew going in that he was being written out, he probably would have gone against the script.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but since the HBO show was seen on Wednesday evening, Vince McMahon likely didn't know what Piper had to say until then. Meaning, when they taped Smackdown, they had no idea Roddy would be gone after the show.

Besides, with the way booking has been going recently, they probably would've booked him to beat Brock Lesnar for the title had they known...

Being soundly beaten in a midcard tag match (albeit against the champs) isn't exactly the most glorious ending to Piper's career anyway.

Over 1500 posts and still never a Wiener of the Day!

Oliva: You are the weakest link! Goodbye!

Stewie: Ahahaha. Oh God, that's funny. That's really funny. You write your own material? Do you? Because that is so fresh. 'You are the weakest link. Goodbye!' You know I've never heard anyone make that joke before. You're the first. I've never heard anyone reference that outside program before. Because that's what she says on the show, right? Hmmm? 'You are the weakest link. Goodbye!' And ye...ye..yet you've taken it and....and used it out of context to insult me in this everyday situation. What a clever, smart girl you must be. To come up with a joke like that all by yourself. Mmmmm...that's so fresh too. Any Titanic jokes you want to throw at me as long as we're hitting these phenomena at the height of their popularity. Mmmm? Cuz i'm here God you're so funny!

You know, from a storyline perspective, Eddy Guerrero and Tajiri just ended Roddy Piper's career. So some good's going to come out of the whole thing.

It's appropriate. Roddy came to prominence fighting the Guerreros, it should be one that finishes him.

Ok, I don't know if any of you all check old dot-coms to see who gets them but apparently WWF.COM is still associated with, you guessed it, wrestling.
