Do you really think that Austin/Angle would cause a huge uproar in the Internet community? They almost always have a really good match.

Go, Jericho! Go!

I think somebody (Shane?) told them to get a placeholder ready and throw it up in between matches just in case we pay attention to such things.

First of all Angle/Jericho is a heel vs. heel match and those never work.
Second if they alienate the Internet Wrestling Community the WWF will lose maybe .1 ratings points. Conversely having Austin in the Wrestlemania main event (again) will probably bring in more casual fans than they'll lose even if everybody on the internet stops watching.
Ah, but what I'm angling for (no pun intended) is a three-way with Angle, Jericho, and HHH over Stephanie. I never said I wanted a heel/heel main event.
Originally posted by Well Its The Big OBy the way, Is it good booking and promotion to tell everyone at the PPV before Wrestlemania that Kurt Angle will be in the main event?
Is that really worse than hyping a Hogan vs Flair match at the last minute?
Yes, because the card hasn't even been made yet. The only thing we knew now is: Champion after NWO v. #1 Contender after NWO. They almost alays have a #1 contenders match after Royal Rumble.
That's pretty good I reckon. I had an idea of Stephanie and Jericho both hating HHH so even though they hate eachother they team up. That could be some good comedy there. I don't know if I'd involve Angle though.

Oh come on. All the marks are leaving that show thinking that Kurt Angle is the advertised main eventer of Wrestlemania.
That means that when HHH gets back in there in a couple of weeks that they will have spent hardly more time than I opted for to hype their main event, whereas Hogan vs Flair was just another match on the card.

Y2J, Y2J, Y2J, Y2J, Y2J, Y2J, Y2J, Y2J !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't been this excited about a wrestling match since Hart/Michaels at WM 12. I'm marking out like a little girl!!!! Imagine what Scott Keith is doing!!!! He probably blew his wad all over the TV set!!!! I'm such a loser!!!!
Now that I think about it, I never did think that the NWO was the huge ratings draw, so maybe if you bring them back as heels and just have Rock and Austin bury them in interviews like The Rock did, it would be pretty cutting edge.
I got all the preliminaries wrong [and I really hope they don't go through with having APA vs. Tazz/Spike at Wrestlemania] but scored on the big events. Jobbing HHH to Angle was necessary to keep people interested in the storyline. If HHH had won, he would have had nothing to do till Wrestlemania. It makes his storyline more compelling to have him have to fight over the next few weeks to get the shot back, and makes an eventual shot at Wrestlemania a lot more emotional.
I think it was also smart to get Austin out of the title chase and stick him in a feud with the NWO. Austin is really at his best when he's trying to get revenge on someone, so this is perfect for him, and will make for good TV over the next month.
I didn't like the tag matches that much--I would have rather seen almost anyone win other than the APA. I thought that clothesline at the end was sloppy rather than stiff...it looked like he just ran up and punched him in the throat. I hope they come up with some better ideas in the tag division, because right now it's not looking much better than the Women's title.
All in all, I think my favorite match was Goldust/RVD from a strictly wrestling standpoint. The main events were good, but I guess I've seen all those guys wrestle each other so many times now that it's hard to get into their matches, whereas Goldust and RVD are fresh.
Bill Savage went over to the (Stu Hart) house and one of the Hart kids was running around with his hair wet. Savage asked why his hair was wet. Stu said, "The little bastard broke a vase this morning, so I stuck his head in the toilet. Want me to show you again?" From the Ring Around the Northwest newsletter
That was a cool set they put together with the WWF trucks.
I thought Hall looked like he was marking out like a little girl inside at just BEING there during that opening segment.
Is there any doubt who the Hardy's pissed off after JR's lack of interest in so much as calling the match? Did you catch Lawler saying "There's so much action it's hard to call" while trying not to laugh?
What the hell was the point in Edge/Regal again, other than to debut a reworked Regal theme?
RVD-Goldust was pretty good.
Wouldn't it have been cool if after Steph was dropped to the floor out cold, Angle later missed a move and ended up flying over the top rope and landing on her?
Rock's promo on the NWO was the best part of the whole damn show.
Austin/Jericho was good, if not predictable (if you bet AGAINST a run-in, were you ACCIDENTALLY watching?)
It was a decent show overall. Could have been worse.
I don't think Hogan should ever take that do-rag off. He's wayyyyyyyy bald. He looks especially silly with his nasty, stringy blond hair and that ridiculous fake beard.
I was 4/7, but as long as Y2J is hanging onto those belts, I`m happy.
I enjoyed the PPV, nothing mind-blowing but nothing bad at all.
And no one else picked up on the Taker/Flair feud they seemed to have started in the past week? Taker threatened him (twice?) this week, then Flair gets in his face twice during the PPV. I think that`s pretty WM X-8 caliber, don`t you?
HHH/Angle/Jericho main event? Maybe. They were also already setting up Rock/Hogan and Austin/Hall tonight. Not bad.
I don't know. I thought the show was kinda under whelming. Unfortunately, I usually tape the show and rewatch it afterwards since my friends are usually too distracting to get a good read on the show, but my friend got it at his place so I have no tape of it to review.
I loved the NWO segments. Hall saying that he might get to have a couple beers with some of the boys, and Hogan and Nash's reaction, was great. Plus, the Austin/NWO and Rock/NWO backstage segments were gold.
So HHH lost? That was sure unexpected. I guess they didn't want to go with the obvious. I'm sure he'll get it back, 'cause I *really* don't see them doing Angle/Jericho at Mania.
I think I guessed almost every match wrong. Oh well, I like being surprised anyhow.
My new main events for Mania: HHH vs. Jericho Austin/Rock/Flair(?) vs. the NWO
Live Raw for me tomorrow night! I'm pretty damn psyched.
"How about the power to kill a yak from a hundred yards...with MIND bullets?!! That called tele-kenisis, Kyle."
Nice...I knew I should've bought stock when it was down a few years back. It's wrestling, it cycles, just about like anything else it this world. Just like trends, fads, and other various things. Really good quick read. Thanks for the find.
