I thought the makeup job was about as good as they could have done. I mean, if it were up to me, the mask would have stayed on forever. But given that this was coming off, I thought this was about right. Anything more would have looked silly (and possibly been difficult to maintain while wrestling). This was weird enough to be jobbing and to keep "too scarred to show his face" somewhere in the realm of suspension of disbelief.
Did Teddy Long make fun of Maven being a light-skinned brother? Um, Teddy, have you taken a good look at your number one client? (No, not her. Her husband.)
Ugh. I was foolish enough to believe they just might give him the belt and make it a special night. *sigh* I did get one good laugh when I read someone thought Kane looked like the love child of Doink The Clown and the Undertaker.
I can't believe they took a COMMERCIAL BREAK during the HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE WORLD!!!! Are you kidding me? I have to watch Kane stroke his hair in front of a mirror, but I can't watch a championship match. THEY NEED TO STOP TAKING DAMNED BREAKS DURING MATCHES! What kind of respect does that show for the Title??!?!
We all knew that Trips was gonna win, but they totally gave it away by cutting out during the match. That would never happen if the title were to change hands. I am sorry, but that is ludicrous. Isn't there one person in the WWE who has the balls and the stroke to do something about this?!?!

Or maybe it makes the match look like something more than your usual 5-7 minute main event. It's not a big deal if they cut out during the match...it's not like they even did it during the entrances, it happened in the middle of the action.
If it makes it look like it's more of a "battle," then I'm all for it.
I know what you're thinking--hey, that guy stole my shoes!

I got more of an "El Hijo de Powers of Pain" vibe.
I'm glad someone remembered who Batista was based on that footage from last night. Of course the announcers didn't mention that. They did however mention Michaels beating HHH at Survivor Series, so I'll let that slide.
The Foley tribute was nice, though I could've done without Vince there. I liked the Foley-Flair interaction before Orton's assault.
The Triple H- Kane match wasn't that good. I did get a laugh at the end of the show, though.
Overall, RAW was disappointing.
"Oh my God, Brian, there's a message in my Alphabits! It says, 'Oooooo!'" Peter Griffin "Peter, those are Cheerios." Brian
it was sad? try pathetic. the whole Kane thing was horrible. The only bad thing was his hair, which was obviously shaved recently just for this. I mean, when Kane was walking to the ring i kept thinking, what the hell is wrong with his hair?
I liked the show last night. If they're still planning on HHH/Goldberg for SummerSlam, and I would if I were them, then tonight had to end with Kane unmasking. Personally, I would have sprung for some latex to make scars with, but I have a feeling that Kane's makeup looked pretty good before he went out and wrestled with it on. They really need to remember what happens when you start sweating onto makeup. But otherwise, I was pretty happy with the ending of that match.
By the way, is it just me, or can Foley not even go to the fucking grocery store without putting someone over? Orton's getting quite the rub from all these guys, isn't he? Although I'm starting to think he deserves it. He's really stepped up in terms of both ringwork and promo abilitiy since he started, which is impressive since he's spent so much time on the shelf.

if you look at every pic of Kane, his hair is real. then, on his way to the ring, i looked at his hair and thought "either this is an imposter with a wig on, or Kane found some scissors out back and went for broke."
i'm flat out OUTRAGED that they decided to kill his charicter. because thats just what they've done. he won't be the same ever again. and that pisses me right off, because Kane was the reason i started watching the wrestling, and he is the reason i'm payin through the teeth to go to Melbourne.
they better not give him some faggoty new persona. and they better give him back his mask, because i don't think people will identify with him if he's not masked.
for years he's had us all believe he's burnt under that mask. and though we all knew it was just a part of the gimick, it's just we have ALWAYS seen him masked. Kane needs his mask back, and he better have it next week.
this is weak on a scale i hardly knew existed.
Twist of Fate to Swanton Bomb. never to be seen again with the departure of Jeff Hardy. :(
I had a RAW party last night-BBQ, popcorn, beverages for the gang. We were doing the typical "cheer the good guys, boo the bad guys" line.
Of course, everyone went nuts for Goldberg. And we were all convinced Kane would win. When he took off his mask, a buddy commented that he looks like he really was the Undertaker's brother-similar enough.
The Foley tribute was a nice surprise. Vince's walk to the ring was even more exaggerated than normal, which cracked everyone up.
And as someone pointed out, Ric Flair's thumb to Shawn Michaels' eye really incapacitated him. That's a powerful thumb.
This is the first edition of RAW that I have watched from beginning to end in about a year. I thought it was a pretty solid show from an entertainment standpoint. I liked the Foley piece; I enjoyed the Dudleys, too.
I wasn't thrilled that they built up Rodney Mack to be the menacing force that loses in 30 seconds to Goldberg, but I can live with that.
As for the Kane/HHH match. It was what it was. I found it okay and maybe the WWE has a plan for Kane and his character. What say we wait and see before we scream that the sky is falling every week, huh? Okay. Good.
- Classy tribute to Foley, and they even pulled the house show trick of `Vince breaking character'... well, kind of... all in all, that's got to be the sendoff Mick was hoping for. Even IF The Funker was a no-show. - For all those critics of the `boring' segment last week, look at the reaction for Storm... the gimmick was getting over. - ... and of course, that was partly because of Jericho. I find myself laughing at almost everything he does these days, from backing up Storm's `prepared statement' with comments like "You own this crowd" or whatever, to his little shuffle in the ring. Just as an aside, I think they could turn Jericho vs HHH into a Rock-HHH like feud back in the DX-Nation days. People are ready to cheer Jericho again. Well.... at least I am. - Another good showing from Goldberg. Here's hoping they do the right thing and have him fight (and defeat) HHH at SummerSlam. - The continued pushing of Randy Orton. The fact that you've got Flair, Foley, and yes even HHH working to help your character doesn't hurt at all. - The unmasking of Kane. I admit, I was curious to see what he would end up looking like. And it wasn't what I figured at all, but I guess whatever look they stick him with, they have to replicate it every week and at house shows too, so it couldn't be overly elaborate. Anyways, well done. I hope they get a good rating for that segment, if for no other reason that to show them what the WWE can do when it builds to something.
Raw may have made some of you sad, but I wasn't. I just figured, hey, we're gonna have to see his face eventually. However, I can now see why Tori dug him, she likes her boys with *long* hair, lol! It wasn't a bad MSG Raw, but I've seen better. HOW DARE THEY CUT THE HIGHLIGHT REEL SHORT?! Lance was so funny and I agree with everything Jericho says about Lance. I enjoyed the Foley segments too. Then again, I always enjoy Foley. That attack by Randy "My voice is so smooth I should do Tietam Brown on tape" Orton, proved that Foley will be back sooner than you think, and I can't wait! That little thing with Flair and Orton going over Foley's book was hilarious, and Orton sounds so sexy reading the passage. I think the one thing that annoyed me was that while Austin got most of the airtime through the whole show, Bischoff only came out in the last segment. What's up with that?! Oh yeah, and where the hell was Victoria?!
Laugh at me all you want, but I loved La Resistance's singing the French National Anthem. Why? When Rene was singing, he was bobbing his head to the beat, and I just cracked up and did it with him. That was so funny, and he has a nice smile. I won't complain about Slaughter at all, due to the fact that I am probably the only person who didn't mind him being WWF champion. The Kane flashback things were SO cheesy, but I didn't mind. I kinda wished he flashed back to the funny times too, like "Hello, Morley!" or the time he rode a scooter and did karaoke and shopped at the supermarket. The main event I'm not complaining about either, because Evolution is a beautiful thing (too look at!). Good show, could be better, but you won't get a negative vibe from me.
(edited by Ringmistress on 24.6.03 0604) 1000 bitches and counting....
Last night didn't have to end with Kane unmasking, because last week they didn't have to book the match with those stipulations to begin with.
Let's not kid ourselves and say this is a "fresh start" for Kane. He's ruined. He's lost most of his marketability, which was all in the mask and he now looks like some coal miner. Who wants to buy that guy's merchandise now?
Does anyone remember when X-Pac stole the mask from Kane and Kane had a big head of long hair? Yeah, well, that was always a wig.
Kane was ruined after the Katie Vick thing last year, but now he's toast. But, hey, at least that Randy Orton is sure on fire!

Not that I agree with the sentiment, but I think trading Orton for Kane would be a step up.
The Foley tribute video was tops, along with the presentation of the hardcore belt to Mick was really good fun to watch. Al's face when Vince said 'thank you' was priceless.
Maven's whipping of Nowinski was a nice touch to renew the tension between the tough enough graduates. Despite his rambling poor Teddy was 0 from 2 tonight
From the start of the Highlight Reel to the end of the Dudleyz V JeriStorm match was tight and very enjoyable.
Kane smashing the mirror i think edged out Goldberg spearing Mack through the pyro as the visual of the night.
And i'm happy to say that nothing in the main event gave away the ending for me, because i thought Kane was down after that first Pedigree, much to my dismay, and when he kicked out all bets were off. I'm unhappy he lost but damnit if the unmasking wasn't surprising and won't lead to something infinately better for Kane.
There were other good bits which don't immediately come to mind so i'll finish by saying that Raw was a good show, which gave me some good memories.
