Was it just me, or was anyone else freaked out when they saw Kane's face. I was expecting to see the same face as "The New Diesel". Instead, I got... uh, I don't know. WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT!!! That face will haunt me in my dreams.
Well, at least they finally turned Kane on RVD, so we can actually see the two feud, instead of them building tension for months, just so they can forget about each other.
Of course the bitching about it has already started, but I rather liked that. They shouldn't LEAVE him unmasked or anything, but it finally gives a little closure to a story that's been pending since his debut, and that's something the WWE is not really strong on these days

The very real problem with the unmasking, was that it just looked... bad. It didn't even look as good as the figure with the burnt face did. It looked some 40 year old cross-dressing man-queer.
Do try to return some of this equipment in pristine order, 007...
Yeah, I can TOTALLY see what Katie Vick saw in him.
Well, this was the big 5-year payoff. I'm not impressed, mostly because I didn't want to see this unmasking happen at all. I don't know. Given the Raw creative team's total disregard for Kane's character history, I wasn't looking forward to this, as it seemed like more of a cheap ratings ploy than a payoff for Kane's character.
And as much of a novelty as this must be for Raw's creative team, they'll get sick of Unmasked Kane soon enough and he'll be shunted down the card again.
I'm almost wishing it WAS Kevin Nash under that mask.
What is Mattitude? Utilizing the belief system and work ethic (Mattributes) of THE Matt Hardy to create a better life for yourself by fulfilling your goals and dreams. Mattitude is a quality that can help anyone -- regardless of background or past -- to achieve success. You just have to make it a lifestyle, a mindset, a religion. Mattitude, is something that can not be taught or learned. Mattitude is something that burns within. In the ring, Mattitude is the intangible, the x-factor, that gives me an advantage over everyone else.
I like Kane's new look. I'm assuming they are going with the money-making "Coalminer Gimmick." He's already got the glove, now the soot, give him a l'il black lung and it's on. He reminded me of "Zoolander" more so than, you know, scaring me.
i dont care what kane looked like under his mask. to me the most important part of the night was that he proved what i already suspected- he is not a main eventer and never will be. All he is big and somewhat athletic, he doesnt know how to work a match, he blows spots like nobody's business and he just isnt entertaining in the ring or on the mic (in fact, he has been in exactly two matches that i have enjoyed while in the wwe and both were completely carried by kurt angle). Get him off of my TV.
I thought the 'Missing Link' half-hair thing was a good twist. Of course, earlier in the night, they showed Evolution unmasking him before, with all of his hair intact. So much for continuity. But, it made the whole thing that much more impactful. If he had taken the mask off, and had a full head of hair, with just some black marks, it wouldn't have been half as dramatic.

Heh, what about Tori?
Well..I might be wrong but didn't they mention Katie Vick didn't actually have a relationship with Kane? They were friends and he wanted her? Assuming she did see his face that might be the reason she didnt want him as more than a friend or maybe befriended him out of pity (I am going too deep into this, it doesnt really matter..)
Tori..they never said she actually saw his face And besides..she picked X-Pac over Kane..what does that tell you about her? :)

What I thought was funny was that JR, being the the face announcer, exclaims is "Is that even human!?!?!?" Wow. The poor guy is supposed to be a burn victim, and has been hiding his "hideously scarred" face for years, and you have what's supposed to be the good guy practically damning him to hell for being ugly. I hope there weren't any real burn victims watching out there. Shouldn't have JR have had pity for him? Well, I guess this was supposed to be a heel turn, and being ugly and ashamed of how you look makes you a bad guy. A good lesson to learn.
Oh, and I thought they did an all right job. I thought the hair looked suspicious earlier in the match 'cause it was getting unusally poofy. If you go back and watch it on tape you'll see. So my first thought was that it was a fake Kane, but then I realized there is no way they could have matched him that well, so I was confused. I don't know how they are gonna keep this up if they are going to keep him unmasked, though. His "burns" are going to keep coming off mid match, and wiping off on his opponents. And poor Glen Jacobs is going to have to keep a ridulous haircut all the time. Even though the mystique is ruined I think they have to put the mask back on. Oh, and they should have saved this for a PPV. Make people pay for shit like that.

Eh, as long as the WWE doesn't send JR for a visit to any children's hospitals.
"OH MY GOD, King! Would you look at that. That kid is hideous! He's as white as a ghost, no teeth... I'm speechless. Is that even human? This is one of THE most disturbing things I have ever witnessed, in my twenty years in the business."

OMEGA, that is extremely funny..in a sick way
Seriously, I guess JR played it up like that because if Lawler would have shrieked EEK HE's UGLY viewers would have shrugged and just ignored it, as he tends to be like that no matter what. When even JR yells it, it must mean something.
As for fighting w/o a mask and the risk of smearing make up, Perhaps they will come up with a latex face mask with the scars and paint on it for the future but that didnt work under this mask? It's too early to tell what they will do ofcourse.
(edited by dMp on 24.6.03 1552) *sigh* Why bother?
So Kane finally took the mask off on-camera. The WWE is many things, but it ain't lucha libre by a long shot. Will he _put it back on_ for next week's show?

I'd buy that, but who do you throw him in with? HHH? RVD? Jericho? All of those would probably rule, but I'm not sure any one of them has the creative posturing to do rreally well. Oh well.
