Nathan Jones was in his hometown of Orlando with the SmackDown crew for the house show last week. It appears as if there are mixed reports if the company will ever use him again. The buzz around backstage is that no one is sad to see him go and feel that he is “weird” and “creepy”. One wrestler went as far as saying, “He had no business being in our locker room.”
Has there ever been another WWF/E star with so much hype and such a quick burnout?

Can't say I'm sad to see him go. I had never seen him wrestle before his WWE stint, but from all accounts the WWE should have known better than to sign him. I guess they were really banking on his look (which I didn't even think was that great) to carry him.
And I usually try to be as uncritical as possible, and keep an open mind, but what the HELL were they thinking making him a face and aligning him with the Undertaker? I mean I guess they were going for the rub thing, but it was apparent to most that he would have been better suited as some kind of psychotic loner. But I guess it's all irrelevant now, especially since he would have sucked with either direction.
As for anyone else that burned out so quickly with so much hype, how about another guy involved with the Undertaker- Giant Gonzalez? Sure he was around for a few months, but how many times did he actually wrestle? And THAT was a great look for a wrestler- airbrushed tights covered in fur. Ya can't beat it.
Good bye Nathan Jones (hopefully).

He lasted a little longer, but Ludwig Borga ranks up there with Nathan Jones for 'intimidating vignettes, extremely quick push, fade into oblivion.' However, considering Vince has carried Mark Henry for years and Nathan is one of his 'pet projects', I wouldn't hold out hope that we've seen the last of him yet.
Where have you gone Gene Rayburn, a nation turns it lonely eyes to you.
I'd be surprised if they dropped him just yet, but did no one scout this guy? I mean, if the Undertaker says that you don't know what you're doing in the ring, are you really in the right business?
I'm sure they need midwives in Australia.

I wouldn't be shocked if WWE decided to not give up on him just yet. I think they all know he sucks, but in Vince's eyes, he's just a big tall muscular guy. And to Vince, that's the most important thing. I doubt he'll last much longer, but wouldn't be suprised to see Vince try to get Nathan over, one last time.
That's what I was thinking.....when Diesel first showed up, he never even needed to get in the ring. Just hanging around on the outside during a Shawn Micheals match, throwing out an occassional big clothesline and standing over the guy like he had killed him sufficed

I think, and bear in mind these are just my thoughts, I don't really have any proof, I think that's pretty much what they tried to do with him. I recall hearing that when they signed him, he needed to be working on television as a condition of his work visa to stay in this country. Vince and Co. had originally planned to ship him down to OVW for some polishing. So when they couldn't do that, we got Nathan Jones, friend of the Undertaker, who's job was to follow UT around like a puppy and take a man-sized beating at every turn. Seriously, how many times was he laid out in order to keep him out of the ring? At that pace, it's not really any wonder that he didn't improve much in his limited matches. And I'll be the first to admit they weren't really taking advantage of his look with that booking, but I guess they figured he'd get a rub from hanging out with UT.
I didn't see many of Nathan's matches, but then I'm not really sure he had any. The problem I saw with his execution was a reliance on sloppy martial arts kicks. And there's a clip of him stumbling badly trying to land after a back kick.
I can't figure out why anyone would encourage this guy to kick when he's so bad at it. He's huge. Tell him to chokeslam or gorilla press or power bomb. Something other than moves that require controling your balance so carefully.

The one that comes to my mind would be the Ultimate Warrior's last WWE comeback. WCW has tons of those types of guys though: Glacier, Shockmaster, Lochness, Robocop, etc
As far as Nathan Jones goes, I hope he doesnt disappear. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . cuz that theivin mutherfucker still has my wallet!!!
It may have went wrong but there's no way it wasn't Batista's lack of actual strength that caused it. Droz got paralyzed for life off a similar situation NO ONE is going to fuck with someone giving them a powerbomb. Ganso bomb, anyone?
