Something tells me they wouldn't include the "Steve-amania" stuff on an Austin disc.

Does anyone know whatever happened to Shane McMahon's plan to let people select matches from a list and make custom DVDs? I remember the Beastie Boys did this with a music CD a couple years ago. It seems like a smark's wet dream.

Exactly. They'll use the ECW footage just like they've used the WCW footage. As a way to acknowledge a wrestler's past work. The best we can hope for is some kick-ass DVD Extras.

Didnt they already include a clip of that on one of their previous Steve Austin tapes?

Yes, they did. It resulted in Joey Styles suing WWE for illegaly using his image. Don't remember how that turned out, though.

That brings up an interesting pooint though: Once WWE 100% legally owns all of the ECW tapes, do they also own all of the images contianed on them? Meaning, the voice Joey Styles is probably on like 99% of ECW's matches, if not all of them. If they put together a bunch of old ECW matches for a DVD, can Joey sue them again?

I mean, if you could buy comps with three or four decent matches from each group, plus a bunch of other assorted nonsense, think how many volumes they could produce of those?

I love that idea, it's like a Mix-tape of wrestling matches. I would buy that over most of the old PPV discs where more than half or some of the matches suck. To stick old classic promos from sucky angles between the matches would pique some intrest in me.

Actually, I heard a rumor that the reason why Vince was buying up all the tape libraries was to avoid such a thing; eliminate all possible forms of competition.

    Hail to the MacMahonopoly.

If Vince doesn't make an all-wrestling cable channel out of this... he's CRAZY. Potential millions just thrown away.

On the other hand, potential millions in startup costs avoided! You can't just look at it from one side.

Rather than a simple 24-hour cable channel, I wonder if Vince isn't getting things together for a few years down the track when Video-On-Demand is more integrated into cable/satellite systems. I could see at some point when the tech is there the offering say 2 hours of anything you want from the WWE libraries for $3.99 or something like that. I know I would from time to time make use of that.

and maybe I should open up my sensitive side/but really, the sensitive side sucks./I've been there./You can only imagine the kinds of sweaters they make you wear.

Here's a question. Will RFVideo (who has just about every ECW show ever put on) be allowed to sell their ECW tapes now that WWE legally owns the footage?

Okay, normally I don't even bother with this kind of thing, but the guy who e-mailed me seemed nice enough and the net community has not been overly helpful thus far I'm told.
