    DARK MATCHES

    (1) Gail Kim def. Dawn Marie. Bland women's match, the soon-to-be Raw ladies contender wins with a victory roll.

    (2) Ultimo Dragon def. Michael Shane. THIS IS A DARK MATCH?!?!?! Awesome way to light up the crowd. Dragon looked as good as ever, sticking in his usual repertoire of stiff kicks. His opener looked awesome as well, lots of fire to simulate dragonfire. Dragon took the win with by taking a front face lock variation, jumping all the way over the top, and dropping down with a reverse DDT like move.

    VELOCITY MATCHES

    (1) A-Train def. Orlando Jordan. A-Train came out MAD for some reason. I'm assuming it will be explained more on the show. Jordan got in some moves, but A-Train eventually took the win with the Derailer.

    (2) John Cena def. Funaki. Funaki and Cena get a rematch from last week's Smackdown, and although Funaki got some more time and moves in, Cena proved too much for him. Cena connected with the F-U for the pinfall win.

    (3) Matt Hardy def. Paul Logan. No Crash or Shannon Moore with Hardy. Average match, when Logan missed a shooting star press, Matt dropped two Twists Of Fate on him to take the pinfall. (Spiff: I assume it's Paul London)

    (4) Basham Brothers (w/ Shaneiqua) def. Shannon Moore & Crash. I'm not sure if this is new or not, but Moore and Crash came out to an opener that was a parody of Matt Hardy's opener. The computer graphic starts to load up, but had a "system failure" at 30% loaded. I thought it was hilarious. The Bashams got the pin on Shannon Moore when they connected with a combination running forearm into a Russian leg sweep.

    SMACKDOWN MATCHES

The show opens with a replay of the superplex that imploded the ring last week between Big Show and Brock Lesnar. It is announced that Show and Lesnar will have a rematch for the title tonight.

    (1) Undertaker def. Nunzio (w/ FBI). Taker quickly opened up a couple of cans on Nunzio, including an awesome chokeslam over the top rope onto the other members of FBI at ringside. Nunzio was quickly dropped by the Last Ride for the pinfall for Undertaker. After the match, Stamboli and Palumbo start to beat up on Undertaker, and as the FBI starts to gain an advantage, the surprise is dropped -- THE APA RETURNS! Bradshaw and Simmons run out and manage to chase
    out FBI with Taker's help.

Zack Gowen is shown getting condolences from some of the other wrestlers in the back. He makes his way to Stephanie's office, but finds only Sable there instead. Sable invites Zack into the office alone, making sure that no one has followed him. We also see a "Brock Lesnar Timeline" clip, highlighting the feud between Show and Lesnar. These timelines were spaced in various parts of the show.

    (2) Chris Benoit def. Rhyno. Benoit and Rhyno came out together for what looked like a tag team match, when Stephanie McMahon came out, carrying the newly redesigned United States Title Belt. She announces that this match will not be a tag match, but instead Benoit and Rhyno will go one-on-one in a first round match for the U.S. Title, which will be decided at the next pay-per-view. The match started off with some decent scientific moves, but got SLOW from there on through. Lots of rest holds were used, and the crowd started getting restless, chanting "GO SPURS GO" instead of anything related to the match. Benoit finally turned the match into his favor and got the win with the Crippler Crossface. After the match, Benoit extended his hand to Rhyno, but they did not shake hands.

Back in Stephanie's office, Sable is coming on to Zack Gowen. She mentions that last week, Zack got to see Sable's puppies, but this week, she would like him to feel them. Sable directs Zack's hands to the lower parts of her body, off camera of course.

    (3) Rey Mysterio def. Kanyon. As the match was about to open, it was announced that Ultimo Dragon would make his Smackdown debut on next week's episode, which would be taped at Madison Square Garden. The match was a typical match of Kanyon's size against Rey's speed. Rey's speed finally won out, as he connected with the 619 followed by the West Coast Pop for the win.

    (4) Kurt Angle def. Charlie Haas. Haas and Benjamin came out to ringside in new outfits and new music, but the crowd still chanted "You Suck" for them. Haas and Benjamin challenge Kurt Angle to a match next week, but Angle comes out and says that next week is for wimps. He's ready to get it on tonight. Charlie Haas decides to take Angle's challenge and hooks it up. Shelton Benjamin got in a cheap shot against the post while Angle was outside, but the ref heard it and ejected Benjamin from ringside for the rest of the match. After some nice back-and-forth action, Angle took the pinfall win with the Angle Slam. Benjamin came running back out to double-team Angle, and as they beat up on Kurt, Brock Lesnar came out to make the save for Kurt.

In Stephanie's office, Sable is continuing to make out with Zack Gowen. She makes Zack beg for her, then tells him that there is no way he would ever get to be with Sable. As Sable starts to put him down, Vince McMahon comes in the office and kicks Zack out of the office. He then laughs with Sable, revealing that the whole thing was a setup to be able to make fun of Zack.

    (5) Billy Gunn (w/ Torrie Wilson) def. Jamie Noble (w/ Nidia). Squash match for Gunn. Nidia and Torrie managed to get in a little catfight, but it was broken up by Gunn. Gunn took the pinfall win with his Fameasser.

    (6) Sean O'Haire (w/ Roddy Piper) def. Eddie Guerrero (w/ Tajiri). Piper comes out with a bottle of tequila for Eddie to drink, making fun of Eddie during the match. Tajiri tried to keep Piper from interfering, but Piper instead took a swig of the tequila and spit it in Tajiri's face, paying him back from last week. The actions at ringside distracted Eddie long enough for O'Haire to get the win with his fireman's carry slam variation.

Back in the office, Sable and Vince continue to gloat over how they got one over on Zack. Sable gives a small kiss to Vince, and then mounts him on top of a desk. Just as they are starting to have some fun, Stephanie McMahon comes in and kicks out Sable. Stephanie RIPS INTO Vince with a MAJOR fit. She was getting so emotional, I had trouble understanding what all she was saying. I
caught that she definitely wanted Zack Gowen to get a contract with WWE, and that she didn't care if Vince fired her or not. Vince was left speechless for once.

It is announced that on next week's Smackdown, Undertaker and the APA will take on all three members of the FBI in a six-man match.

    (7) Brock Lesnar def. Big Show by disqualification to retain the WWE Championship. Lesnar climbed up on the top rope to start the match, and dared Big Show to follow him. Instead, the start of the match had a lot of fighting on the outside. Lesnar started to gain control, and as he lifted up Show for the F-5, Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin ran in for the DQ. Show, Haas, and Benjamin all triple-teamed Lesnar until Kurt Angle came in to try and even the odds. Show finally dropped Angle with a chokeslam, and as the beating continued, Mr. America ran in to even the odds some more. Mr. America got some shots in on Show, but as he tried to slam Show, Haas and Benjamin broke it up. Mr. America wound up eating a chokeslam, and Show, Haas, and Benjamin left Angle, Lesnar, and Mr. America lying out cold to end the show.

Random bitching:
1) Still too much Gowan/Vince/Steph/Stable crap

2) Benoit/Rhyno is a 1st round match? This should have been saved for a later round, or possible the finals. Having it in the 1st round is asinine.

3) Taker squashes Nunzio. I'm *SHOCKED*. That's 3 jobs in a row for the FBI to Marky-Mark. Way to give the rub to the mid-card. And the APA returns? Screw that. I'm betting the FBI jobs next week to Taker/APA. :: goes back and reads "An open letter to Mark Calloway", then laughs ::

4) Gunn squashes Knoble? ::groan::

5) Mattitude on Velocity?

I will say Kanyon/Rey should be good, as should Mattitude/London and Bashams/MF'ers on Velocity.

Instead of Piper and O'Haire getting a title shot down the road, let's give the shot to Mattitude. Why the hell not, it's not like there are any other compelling teams, plus it'll be a decent match,

I somehow think that Benoit/Rhyno for the US title is going to happen at SummerSlam.

IF these spoilers are correct it means: Benoit doesn't job for the first time in a month, Kanyon actually gets to be on SD without having to be Taker's bitch, Kurt Angle wrestles, and no Hogan or Nathan Jones. Since I assume anything with Sable is automatic 'flip the channel crap' already, that means no McMahon either. Finally, a good show.

Ummmm.... I don't know what to think about that. I'm glad the APA is back, but.. Sable making out with a handicapped guy, THEN Mr. McMahon?!?! And what's this? Stephanie in a fit? Usually, that's a major cause for alarm, but remember, her voice is raspy these days, so it looks like the glassware will survive another week. Fortunately, thanks to the fifth horseman (my brother, the Flair wannabe), the crap is as easy to escape as hitting fast forward. NO SPANKY AGAIN?!?!?!?! I'm not sure how the thing will turn out on TV, but I'm sure Steph's people will understand if I decide to wait until MSG.

I'm surprised we haven't seen Zach wrestle yet. Some other small guy (Spanky) could have used the rub from Hogan and all that exposure.

I'm glad to see Kanyon on SD so he can remind us that he's WWE's longest reigning US champion. OK, there were only five, but stil that's longer than Angle and Edge held it.

Nothing pisses me off more than having two sure-fire main-eventers (Matt Hardy and John Cena) wrestle on fucking Velocity. Guess they had to fit in more room for those oh so excellent Vince/Sable/Stephanie segments.

The cruel answer would be that Spanky has both of his legs.

Seriously, I love Spanky, but Zach gives the Fed a "marketable" (or exploitable) face that can buy the fed some positive mass media coverage once he's active. Y'know "A tale of preserverance and dreams, after this commercial break." Soft news shows eat this stuff up.

I agree with that scheme, which is why I'm puzzled as to why he's just standing there. Get him in the ring with the Brooklyn Brawler or some other flunky. Or have Vince sic a limo driver on him. "You lost to a one-legged kid?!! You're FIIAAARRREDDDD!"

I assume they're holding off on the in-ring stuff until Summerslam so they can use mainstream news coverage to beef up PPV buy rates. Maybe they'll pull the trigger for Vengeance. Still, there's no reason why Amerihogan can't have TWO sidekicks, one of which could be a guy who's in the ring each week.

For the love of God, Matt and Cena are on Velocity for ONE WEEK. Both have enjoyed major high-profile stuff recently, and according to every major news source and their brother both guys are in VERY high favour with management. Stop getting your knickers in a bunch and percieving injustices where there are none, because if you don't you're never going to enjoy WWE television again.

Agreed! The first thing I thought when I read the spoilers was. "Hey! Velocity looks like a good show this week. I think I'll check it out!"

People cry that those shows are just for jobbers and then they cry when some star power is added. That just makes me scratch my head until it bleeds.

Of course, I'm not looking forward to the return of APA.

Benoit-Rhyno should be good, despite what the live crowd thought. I do wish that was the US finals though.

I'm also looking forward to Angle-Haas.

And Lesnar-Show sounds good, too.

I've yet to see Hogan, Lesnar, Angle, Piper, or Big Show wrestling jobbers on Velocity. It wouldn't be bad if Velocity was a meaningful show but it's perceived as totally beneath being on Smackdown.

It's really the fact that these two guys that you say they're so HIGH on, they can't come up with anything to have them on the main show. If they were so HIGH on them and they were so important, they'd find a spot for them on Smackdown every week.

Man at first I was hearing a bunch of complaining and whining over nothing and then these two actually show up with good opinions, way to go guys.

I mean let's look at this card.
Rhyno vs. Benoit
Kanyon vs. Rey
Haas vs. Angle
O'Haire vs. Eddie
That's four potential great matches. And yes Matt and Cena were left off the show, but i'm sure they'll be back next week, probably in the US tournament. If one of them makes the finals against Benoit, then it'll be great. Plus i'm drooling over the possiblity of Haas/Benjamin vs. Angle/Lesnar. That would be one heck of a feud with tons of great wrestling. And hopefully Big Show is moving on to Mr. America so atleast they can keep all their crap to one feud.

Hate to break the news, but at least on the upcoming house show circuit, it will be Big Slug teaming with Cena against Brock and Angle, so it doesn't look like he is going to be moved onto Hogan, Taker, or APA yet. On the bright side, at least it means they haven't completely given up on Cena after his one main event. Working with Angle can only help him.

I agree with you guys 100%. I mean, goddamn that Kurt Angle. Coming back and taking up time that could go to Hardy and Cena. And then there's Benoit, who has a match with Rhyno that sounds like the "part two" of Lance Storm's boring match on RAW.

You guys are completely right. Angle and Benoit should get off tv already to make room for others... Unless you meant that the WWE should only get rid of things YOU don't like, and put on more of what YOU do like... but then you'd have to be a pretty arrogant viewer to expect that.

Well, thank god, a lot of those arrogant viewers left a long time ago. Have you heard about those 1999 WCW-like PPV buyrates the last several PPV's have gotten? WWE really showed them, didn't they? Really, expecting WWE to put on a show meant to entertain people OTHER than Vince McMahon? People really are fucking idiots, aren't they?

....except that this show seemingly has plenty to entertain the smarter-minded viewer, and yet still the only thing certain folks comment on is the "relegation" of Cena and Hardy to Velocity. Benoit beats Rhyno in what sounds like a good match. Angle returns to the ring against a great opponent. Rey Rey wrestles Kanyon-a drool-worthy match to say the least. The main event involves four of the most entertaining guys on SmackDown, plus heralds the move of Mr. America away from the Vince crap. This is the better SmackDown that many have been requesting-begging for, even.

And yet what's the ONLY thing that people note? Hardy and Cena appearing on Velocity. Figures. So don't go running your mouth about the show "only being booked to entertain Vince mcMahon", because both you and I know that, looking at what's coming on Thursday, that is total bullplop.

It's the SPOILERS, TEXT, not the actual show, for one thing. I can't comment on the quality of the show because I haven't seen it yet.

Excuse me for wanting to see John Cena and Matt Hardy on Smackdown, and thinking they deserve to be there by the reactions they get from the crowd. How the hell is that arrogant? I'm not saying put Paul London and American Dragon on Smackdown for a 45 minute ***** match. That would be arrogant. Asking that two promising that the majority of the crowd is really into be included in the main show, isn't.
