Anyone else getting as much joy as me regarding Clemens' holding pattern for getting # 300?

I'd prefer if he was still stuck on 298, but it is hysterical seeing him choke in the big spot yet again. I think he might have pissed off the baseball gods when he wore the 300 win patch on his glove before he won 300 games. Hopefully, the Clemens across America Tour will have to make a West Coast Trip at some point.

God dammit! I really thought it was going to happen today, but no, they have to pull him and get Asseveda, of all people, on the hill. Fuckin' bullpen.

By the way, Kerry Wood pitched really well today, so congrats to him.

Fuckin' bullpen.

I figure Wood deserved the win anyway. Before I passed out and started reliving everything I had eaten over the last few days, Wood was pitching lights-out. Made one bad pitch over the first 7 innings.

And I must admit that I loved Acevado blowing Roger's W on one pitch. Way to go for the suspense.

Every day he pitches I hope he has a no-hitter and a 12-0 lead with 2 outs in fifth and the fucking game gets rained out so he's stuck on 299 forever.

Of course, I though this thread was going to be about Rogers Hornsby.

And with the way Prior's pitching, Cubbies have a chance of winning the series. Oh yea baby. I'm just glad Choi's okay.

And the Cubbies beat the Yanks twice. For those keeping track, that's two times they've beat the Yanks in the history of baseball. Happy days are here again.

I could see Torre getting the ax sooner then later if this keeps up... You know Steinbrenner going to flip his lid sooner or later, even if his team is in first place.

After that oh so successful double header against the Mariners yesterday the Mets sure could a stop on this Roger Clemons losing streak.

Here are the next 5 Roger Across America Tour Attempts at 300 (barring injury): St. Louis (home), Tampa Bay in back to back starts, Meet the Mets/Greet the Mets/Everybody Beats the Mets, and then the Red Sox on the 4th of July. It will really take alot of effort for Clemens to screw up the middle portion of that stretch, but hopefully the Curse Of The Patch will keep him at 299.

Steinbrenner flipping his lid, yeah, that is a given. Anyone thinking Torre will get the ax ever is on some really cool drugs. If Joe wins one more ring, the guy will get his number retired when he leaves.

By the way, fuck you Juan Acevedo. Don't let the door hit you in the ass. Chris Hammond, don't get comfy. You are sucking plenty of prime ass also. Weaver too.

Also, now that I think about it, with Ruben Sierra's re-arrival, Clemens and Jeff Weaver are no longer my least favorite Yankees. Fuck you Ruben! You better hit 20HR from this point on or I will hate you more, and you don't want that to happen!!!

Well, it's not like they gave ANYTHING up to get him. Thames should consider himself lucky he was ever a fifth outfielder for them. And Chris Hammond, sucking outside of Leo Mazzone's grasp? SURELY you jest. Acevedo should close somewhere... that's the funny thing about him. He seems to handle closing fine, but can't set anyone up.

I must be trippin then LoL. Steinbrenner ego has always been that of it's HIS team and they are successful because of him, unless when there not successful then it's everyone else's fault (Billy Martin anyone). George doesn't care about Torre legacy of a chance of being a 5-time MLB champion, George wants to win, George wants a parade... They already clashed on some subjects where George overrides Torre's judgement on who to send to the minors and where( Cuban pitcher Jose Contreras) and also other incidents including naming Jeter team captain when Torre feels stuff like that isn't needed. George has been throwing his weight a lot more nowadays then the good old automatic winning rings days.

As for Sierra, and by the way doesn't Torre absolutely despise him and ripped Sierra in his book as the "most difficult man he's ever managed"... Well I called it back in a "Blue Jay" thread when I said Jays don't have a real chance of winning the division because the Yanks can grab an Ace from half the teams or their a major bat and put then as the #4 starter or in the 7th spot batting on their roster.

You're banking George's idiocy on whether or not he fires Torre? I thought that George proved he was an idiot long ago. In fact, espn has a nice little article concerning 10 idiotic things George has done. I can't even see firing Torre as ranking on that list.
