What you think about the new wrestling games comeing out?

I think that Raw 2 has alot of protentil to a great game. The gamecube wrestlemaina 19 I have my doubts about because the other one suck ass.

What about the backyard wrestling game? I know alot people don't like that stuff because it screwy , but as a game I want to try it if it's something new because I need a new type of wrestling game.
Vendetta was a cool ass game and I have fun playing it. I think backyard can be just as cool. But that what I think.

I don't know much about the new games, but I am still playing WWF Wrestlemania 2000, WWF No Mercy, and WCW/nWo Revenge for the N64. I'm sure you've played them, but if you haven't the gameplay is just amazing. Royal Rumbles with 3 other friends are a blast. I think vendetta uses the same engine, so you might know what I am talking about. If not, give these a try, you will be hooked!

The following post expresses the opinions of a raving Jerichoholic. He is biased, opinionated and bitter. You have been warned.

I really like No Mercy as well, but the slow down with four people on the screen is brutal.

I think Here Comes the Pain (the new SmackDown! game) should be pretty good. Elimination Chamber matches should be some fun. Here's hoping they get worked into Career mode.

You can't beat the oldies with no mercy and even the VJPW2 is a good one. (import)

I hope the new games are alot better then I've seen in the last 2 years with the wwe games.

the Smackdown serious of games is great.
and i also think it's good that in "Shut Your Mouth" they finally brought back a scoring win/loss system, like they had in the first SD game. they just need to stop messing around with the little details.
but i agree, No Mercy is cool. especially "The Chokelsm From Hell" and "the Stunner" these 2 moves were done heaps well. and the way moves were countered in that game, also looked a whole lot smoother and nicer. very authentic.

Twist of Fate to Swanton Bomb. never to be seen again with the departure of Jeff Hardy. :(

Except that I can NEVER, EVER pull off a finishing move in either Revenge or 2000 (same engine.) Instructions say once your attitude meter flashes "special," all ya gotta do is get the guy in a strong grapple (A button, right?) and tap the analog joystick.

Never, EVER works. That's so damn frustrating. That, and even when I set the difficulty to "easy," 2000 is a way harder game than Revenge...but with the same engine...cannot figure out...head hurts...THRILL SMASH!

maybe you're not doing it right? it always (and still does) work for me. you have to do a tad more than just "tap" it though. you have to move it in one of the many directions or rotate it i think. and if you press B+A while you have "special" you can do your opponent's (the one you have in the strong grapple or the one you are 'looking at') finishing move. thus i have sting doing the top-rope diamond cutter on a regular basis. and i think in 2000 when you create a character you can customize the finish move that your opponent can steal, thus preventing them from using yours.

and on a personal note, all of the thq/aki wrestling games on the n64 OWN the smackdown line in ease of gameplay and funfactor. sure the smackdown line has better graphics and more matches, but the n64 games are easier to pick-up and a lot more fun when mastered. i'm not saying i don't like the smackdown games, i just prefer the oldies. but just my opinion. :)

The Imoprt ones are just as cool as the WWE. If you get the chance play Viture Japan Pro Wrestling 2, it's cool game and don't buy a adp. for it if you got a game shark because they work.

I'm just awaiting a new WWE game for the GBA, my main gaming console.

I will admit that I enjoyed WCW Backstage Assault, once I looked past the horrid graphics and finally got into it.

As always, I say nothing tops Giant Gram 2000, even Fire Pro.

You know that you have to *hold* the grapple button to do a strong grapple, right? A lot of people I've played those games with seem to have trouble with that. Once you have the strong grapple locked in, just press the analog stick in any direction and you should get your finisher (or press A+B, like Jericholic53 said, while in the strong grapple to steal a finisher).

Most people do their finisher face-to-face (Rock, Austin, etc), but a few do it from behind (I think the Angle Slam is done from behind). Another trick: if you're using a face-to-face finisher (Austin's stunner works well here), you can irish whip your opponent into the ropes, then push the analog stick as they run back toward you (you'll see your character reach out to grab when you press the stick) and catch them in a finisher that way.

Angle Slam is from the front in No Mercy, his back special is the Dynamite Kid style Backdrop Suplex into a pin.

What *I* would like is to be able to get a copy of Fire ProWrestling Z for the PS2, which just got released in Japan. Looks like no plans to bring it to the states tho... *sob*

excerpt from Fire ProWrestling Z Hands-On @ www.gamespot.com:

"...Fire Pro Z contains close to 400 different heads to put on your wrestler, each modeled after a real-life superstar. Want to create Goldberg? Spend enough time building his body and, well, just assign two or three moves, and you've got a Goldberg that is just as limited as the real thing."

hehe.

According to Spike (the developer), Fire Pro Z for PS2 will be the last Fire Pro game, so Cube owners may be out of luck.

The PS2 flip-top mod reportedly works with Fire Pro Z, however, so I'll be investing in that at some point. Sure, it'll be loaded with Japanese, but that hasn't stopped me before -- I still have translation guides printed for other Fire Pro releases, and have only been playing Tobal 2 the same way for seven or eight years now...
