I'm new here and I just wanted to get feedback from all you fine people out there. What, in your opinion, are the top cage matches of all time?
Here are the best cage matches in my opinion (in no particular order):
* The first Wargames/Match Beyond at Great American Bash '87 * Hell in a Cell at WWF No Way Out 2000 (Triple H defending the World Title against Cactus Jack) * War Games 2000 on WCW Nitro with the 3-tiered cage (back in September of that year I believe. I know I'll receive a lot of flack for that!) * Cage match between Angle and Benoit (I think) on Raw in the summer of 2001 when Angle missed the mooonsault off the top of the cage. * King of the Ring '98 Hell in a Cell pitting The Undertaker and Mankind.
And here's my worst of all time:
* Missy Hyatt & Rick Steiner against Paul E. Dangerously & Arn Anderson at Great American Bash '91 I think (by far the worst) * Ultimate Warrior vs. Rick Rude at Summer Slam '90 * Nikita Koloff vs. Lex Luger for the US Title also on '87 Great American Bash tour. * Dudley Boys vs. Hardy Boys at Survivor Series 2001. Not particularly bad as a wrestling match, just a dull cage match. * Chamber of Horrors Cage Match at WCW Halloween Havoc '91 (The wrestling wasn't bad, but to think; an "electric chair" was used in the match)
yeah, Benoit vs. Angle stands out in my mind like a mutha! But I coulda sworn that Tully Blanchard vs. Magnum TA (I Quit match) was in a cage, too... that was brutal! Magnum gouging Tully's bloody forehead with a broken wooden chair leg.... (Homer Simpson voice) "Mmmmm.... old school......"
I was there....When Chris Jericho beat Austin and Rock in the same night to become the first ever Undisputed Champion! (And for the incredible Eddie/ Edge "no DQ"!!!)
Yes Magnum vs Tully was in the cage. The screams from Tully made me cringe when I saw it for the first time (which was fairly recently actually).
When you're talking about best cage matches, you can't forget the BEST and first Hell in a Cell between HBK and UT at Bad Blood '97. It even had a pretty good screw job ending (ya know, for a screw job ending) since it was the debut of KANE~!!! Also, I found said PPV at a local video store (Charts Hits Videos) along with some other IYHs from 96 and 97...I was suprised and delighted when I discovered them there since I began watching wrestling again in 98 and missed all that goodness.

Actually, WarGames 2000 was a really good and well-booked match. ESPECIALLY considering what WCW was usually producing during that time.
And kudos for including the Angle/Benoit RAW match. I think it's sad that the match gets overlooked a lot of times. I'm still waiting for WWE to put it on a DVD. But, so far, no such luck.
Personally, I'd have to go with either Bret/Owen from SummerSlam '94 or the Shawn/Undertaker Hell in a Cell. I remember watching both, and marking out BIG TIME during both of them. Especially considering how big of a fan I was of Owen and Shawn (I was always a major supporter of the heels when I was growing up). Even with all the stunt show matches we've seen since, these two still hold up as the ***** classics they are.
Remember when WWF treated RVD like the main-event star he is?
If I could list Owen-Bret at SS '94 as one of the best of all-time, I would. However, although I've been a fan for about 15 years now, I still haven't seen the match.
Undertaker vs. Big Bossman at WM 15...blading on camera, boring brawling, and Bossman gets hung at the end, only to return the next night like nothing happened.
I've got a metal plated spine, and my bitches all in line.

I think the Kennel From Hell match has gotten a bad match. Yes, the idea was really fucking stupid. But, Al Snow and Big Bossman did such a good job of working around the shitty gimmick, and actually producing a half-way decent match, that it really shouldn't be slacked as much as it is.
As far as far as worst goes, King Kong Bundy v. Hulk Hogan from WrestleMania 2 was about as shitty as shitty gets. Also, WarGames from Fall Brawl '98. You wanna' be bored shitless? RENT THE TAPE!

One of the worst cage matches I remember was a Fall Brawl/ War Games '96. Which involved Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, & fake Sting vs Lex Luger, Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Sting... The storyline had everyone believing that the fake Sting was the real deal even the babyface members of the team. Real Sting came in and kicked everyones ass but after doing so he just leaves out the cage door. Which of course takes away the entire concept of War Games that no possible was you can leave once you get in.
cause there's limits to our liberties. 'Least I hope and pray that there are, cause those liberal freaks go too far.
I'll crush all opposition to me And I'll make Ted Kennedy pay If he fights back, I'll say that he's gay
My fav is HHH Vs. Cactus Jack HITC at No Way Out 2000. What about the Don Murraco Vs. Jimmy Snuka, it has to be one of the best just from the film clip of Snuka coming off the top of the cage.
It probably won't hold up, but when I was a kid, I loved the SNME one where Hulk Hogan and Paul Orndorff *tied* and they had to restart. (Although, even at six, I could tell that Paul was deliberately climbing slowly to allow the Hulkster to catch up to him, and that Orndorff landed first anyway.)
I think the Brock Lesnar/Undertaker HIAC match was the best match of 2002, hands down. Very bloody, very brutal, and with the coolest cinematography ever in a WWE match. (If you've got it on tape, watch it again and tell me the camera work wasn't fuckin' cool.)
The Hardy Boyz/Edge and Christian cage match from late 2000 where the Hardyz finally won the titles was great, too, if for no other reason than the fact that the WWF used the tag team steel cage match rules I "invented" when I was a kid making my own fake fed with those five pound rubber wrestlers/murder weapons they gave us to play with.
And, if you watch it with the Mick Foley/Kevin Kelly commentary on the Hard Knocks And Cheap Pops DVD, the Kennel From Hell is one of the greatest matches ever.
"I can't read this - this is bullshit!" ----Sec. of State Colin Powell, prior to famed WMD speech at the U.N.

Get the version with Mick Foley and Kevin Kelly's commentary and you'll appreciate it a lot more. Trust me!
What is Mattitude? Utilizing the belief system and work ethic (Mattributes) of THE Matt Hardy to create a better life for yourself by fulfilling your goals and dreams. Mattitude is a quality that can help anyone -- regardless of background or past -- to achieve success. You just have to make it a lifestyle, a mindset, a religion. Mattitude, is something that can not be taught or learned. Mattitude is something that burns within. In the ring, Mattitude is the intangible, the x-factor, that gives me an advantage over everyone else.

I almost said it, but didn't think others would remember it. I loved that match. I was little and wanted to go so badly because it was in Hartford about 35 mins. from my house. I watched in amazement because he was the third heel that I really pulled for after the likes of Macho Man and The Honky Tonk Man, and just above Rick Rude as single wrestlers(w/ a warm place in my heart for Big John Studd as well). I was sick of Hulkamania and thought Orndorff would end it. I was so crushed, I think that I will go cry now.
Another one I forgot to mention that I really liked was Bret Hart/Diesel from Februrary 1996. I know the match wasn't great, but the finish alone made me love that match. I was a big time Undertaker mark back then.
Orndorff coming out to Hogan's entrance theme was the funniest thing... I loved Jessie's commentary- he was so anti-Hogan back in the SNME days!

I wish I still had a tape of Age in A Cage. I remember Roddy and Hogan looking at each other like "Uh... what the hell are we supposed to be doing here?" It all made sense after I read either Roddy or Hogan say they were expecting a regular cage and not the Hell In A Cell knock off they got. No one thought to tell them.

aside from that though, the fans were madly chanting for flair. and they even exploded when the real sting came out. and this whole thing eventually led to the darker 'crow' sting right? and i think we can agree that in the beginning that was a pretty damn entertaining gimmic. and i think in that match there's a pretty sick looking shot of arn anderson getting stomped face-first into the space between two of the rings. but maybe it's just me.
I wanted to go to this. But tickets sold out, what, two months ahead of time? I didn't want to go that bad, though now I'm looking at the ad for the next taping and thinking about it. Like, if I knew this person was going to be there... ...
