With the release of their new live album and DVD set, Led Zeppelin are back in the news. A question that Page, Plant and Jones are being asked a lot is if they'll ever reunite for one final Led Zep reunion tour, with either Jason Bonham (John's son), Dave Grohl or Ringo Starr's kid on drums.

Personally, I dunno if I'd even want to see a reunited Led Zep. I always found LZ's refusal to tour after Bonham's death to be a noble and cool way to keep the band's legacy alive. Better than the memory of Led Zeppelin in their prime stay fresh than for them to become touring sellouts like (what's left of) the Who.

We now understand that this may have been incorrect, and that the election result is still too close to call. The Economist apologizes for any inconvenience.

If their reunion tour is anything closely resembling Page/Plant from 1995, I am so there.

And I personally enjoy the sellout Who. Daltrey has more stage presence in his thumb than most frontmen will have in a lifetime.

This rumor has been around, since, well since Bonzo died, but it's gotten especially potent recently. At one point recently, Carmine Appice was supposed to be the drummer.

Fun Fact: the band did reunite once, at Live-Aid. Can't remember who the drummer was for that, though.

Led Zep has re-formed for a few one-off performances, including Live Aid in 1985(with Phil Collins on drums), Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary in 1988 (Jason Bonham on drums), and their own induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 (Jason Bonham on drums)

AHOY MATES!The latest Entertainment Weekly has a Zep article in the "special" music section. Jones says no one is talking to him. and Page/Plant absolutely BLAST Collins' job at Live Aid. They basically say no one is good enough to sub for bonzo so they won't call it a "Led Zeppelin" reunion but a Page/Plant tour is concievable, though not currently planned.

He's no Bonzo, but Phil Collins is actually a pretty good drummer. His stuff with Genesis was pretty cool.

I know the Live-Aid performance was on the radio, but I don't really remember it due to being too young (though I do remember my brother pretty much crying since Zep was playing live again). I've heard a bunch of times that it was pretty disappointing for a couple of reasons, such as bad sound and stuff like that.

Also, I've always gotten the impression that Page and Plant just don't talk to Jones. I believe at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, after those two had their reunion, Jones came out and said something like "I'm glad somebody remembered my phone number!" Ouch!

I can't recall the exact quote, but I remember when Page and Plant were doing their reunion tour in the mid-90's, someone asked Jones why he hadn't joined them. Jones' response: "Nobody asked me!"

It's one thing to fade from the public memory, but when your own band mates can't be bothered to give you a call, or they just decide it's better to split the gate two ways instead of three, that's pretty sad.

1. i think it would be cool to see page/plant/jones/grohl onstage; but there's no point in calling it led zep; just make up a new name, and play new stuff, and tack on some zepplin songs onstage.

2. no one will ever replace the "doors 2003" when it comes to "touring sellouts." Lynard Skynard looks at the Doors and says "wow, they need some more original members."

(i apologize in advance for the mispelling of LS; for i cannot recal the weird way they spelled their band name)

BTW, the band is now down to two original members: Gary Rossington and Billy Powell

Yeah, but it's "Pronounced Leh-nerd Skin-erd"

Led Zeppelin's refusal to tour after Bonzo has been cool. But I think it's at the point where there are more people who are going to appreciate it than complain about it. It's not like they said, "We'll never do it," then did it a week or a month or a year later: they've resisted any urges they may have had for 25 years.

They've proven it's not about a quick buck. So I'm willing to believe that if they do it now it's for the fans, the money, and the hell of it.

And that would be good enough for me.

(Although I admit I'd be much happier if they included John Paul Jones)

Page and Plant played Led Zep songs when they toured together, right?
