I'm a bigger Mike Tyson fan than most people, but this is just ridiculous. Sometimes I wonder if the guy is really saying what he thinks or if he's just really smart and knows how to play the media ala VKM. Good grief!

A call for comment to Tyson's adviser, Shelly Finkel, was not immediately returned.

She's probably sitting at her desk, with her head in her hands, saying "how the f*ck am I gonna defend this comment?!?"

Seems to me that Mikey needs more psychotropic meds.

"Mike Tyson has finally lost it"??? What is this, a fucking news flash? He claimed that he was going to eat Lennox Lewis' children, and he bit off part of Evander's ear. Until now, has this guy had his shit together?

Does this actually suprise anyone? His comment, although sick, is hardly news and is even less shocking. What he said would be akin to:

-Barry Bonds cussing out a fan
-Jose Canseco auctioning off his seed
-HHH pinning Goldberg
-The Yanks trading for Arod, Griffey Jr, and Zito

disclaimer: not trivializing rape, or the threat thereof

Reporter: Champ! Champ! What do you think of Homer Simpson.
Tatum: Well, I think he's a good man, but I'm going to have to orphan his children.
Reporter: They do have a mother, champ.
Tatum: Well, yes, but I think she would die from grief.

From the "He's innocent" standpoint i can understand the comment. -Do the time, do the crime- So to speak. Although i think mike took it a little to far when he said he wanted to rape her now. easy big fella the people might think your crazy or something.

I love Mike Tyson. The man is just so out of his freaking mind, it's hilarious. There was more to the interview where he says something about wanting to rape Desiree's mother too. I can't find the quote, though.

To steal a phrase from The Sports Guy, I'm not only requesting a Osbournes-type reality show starring Mike Tyson, I'm DEMANDING it.

"So you're Ben Affleck. You're sitting next to Jennifer Lopez, who's your fiancee, you're eating a eight-foot high sundae, and members of the Boston Red Sox are coming up to you and asking for autographs. If that's not heaven, what is?" - Tony Kornheiser, PTI

Disclaimer or no disclaimer, perhaps you are not aware that cussing out a fan or claiming to want to eat someone's children (yeah, right) in a promo aren't quite as bad as saying you WANT TO RAPE SOMEONE. What the hell? Are you so maladjusted that you can't see the obvious difference??

And to Battlezone, did you read about the idea sometime back about training some random guy off the street to be a boxer and then having him go up against Tyson? Now THAT would be entertainment.

Shelly Finkel is a *he*. Nevertheless, he's still probably got every right to try to stay the hell away from Mike as possible.

Mike: "I'd love to rape that bitch for what she did to me!"
Shelly: "Aw, c'mon Mike. You know you can't say stuff like that."
Mike: "..."
Shelly: "Uh, Mike, why are you looking at me that way."

It appears there soon may be one. It's called Court TV.

I honestly see no amusement in Mike Tyson's antics anymore. The act has gotten old LONG ago and I just wish the guy would go away and never come back.

The sad thing is, if a Mike Tyson reality show really DOES come along, it'll most likely dominate the ratings.

Ok, so maybe all the other guys haven't worked, but will THIS be the man to save WWE???

Um...probably not.

Or at least beat the shit out of them, gnaw a body part off, and terrify their children.

Uh, yeah - you kinda are. (both of you)

Disclaimers are pretty worthless if you entirely contradict your disclaimer in the post. (just as StingArmy pointed out.)

There is two in every bunch - react, don't think.

I threw that stupid disclaimer in there just for the both of you, and people who react to things like the both of you do. I was comparing "Mike Tyson saying something insane" to other stupid things that shouldn't really surprise society. Perhaps I should have posted "Him saying this would be akin to:" instead of "What he said would be akin to:" but I really thought people would get it. At least on this messageboard, I personally would be very hesitant to believe that someone puts rape on the same level as cursing, wrestling, or a baseball trade, but I suppose StingArmy and Vega14k do not. This is why I didn't comment on StingArmy suggesting that a threatening to rape someone is an action of an intelligent, thinking man who can "play the media". I used my brain and believed he was not really suggesting that.

Calling a rape threat (from a man who has already commited rape and is obviously unstable enough to repeat it) a "stupid thing that shouldn't shock anyone" is callous and highlights my very point, thank you.

The armament of "love it or leave it" is the enemy of American patriotism, for it strikes counter to everything this great nation fights for.
