According to 1wrestling, in order to get Bad Blood on PPV for free, as was announced on Raw, soldiers are going to need to buy the PPV and then send their information in, in order to receive a rebate covering the cost.
I don't quite know how it works, but wouldn't this method allow the WWE to claim a higher buyrate, since they would count everyone who buys the PPV, and *then* give rebates to a large number of them?
NOTE: The above post makes no sense. We apologize for the inconvenience.
The really funny part will come when the evil Frenchmen win clean over RVD and Kane. Who says the WWE doesn't like randomly sticking it to various hometown (in whatever capacity) fans

Oh come on, How could you not love seeing a French Guy win a flag match and then start prancing around right infront of a military guy... That was HA-Larious Well for me anyways LoL

With this and the SARS thing they've joined in Toronto, it seems to me that they're looking for ANY good PR they can get. Nothing wrong with that but that's just what it looks like.
The only way doing it for a higher buyrate makes sense is if they're going to drag their feet with the rebates and are looking for a quick cash grab. Kinda like a loan.
Just vince doing PR work he can be a real charming guy when he wants to. I don't think the military is really a large enough segment of the population to shift the buy rate one way or another, especially when most of them are overseas right now. Wrestling PPV's isn't a cheesburger at Rally's. Your not dealing with a skeptical public in that they are going to watch a three hour show based on how good the product is or how hot the product is, not the fact that it's free after a mail in rebate.

This won't boost buyrate. You can't count the PPV's you give out for free. And giving military personnel a free PPV isn't going to make any civilians(or vets to be technical) want to buy the PPV.
I don't think this is Vince trying to exploit anything.
Yes, I know. Vince has had a history of exploiting wars, but I think he's calmed down over the last several years (I think Stephanie's done a good job of squashing Vince's balls). Not to say that I wouldn't be shocked if this WAS Vince trying to exploit the war. Nothing involving Vince suprsises me anymore after he seriously thought an Albert main-event push would set the world on fire.
Say what you will about McMahon. But one thing that is certain is that he is a very patriotic man.
Remember when WWF treated RVD like the main-event star he is?
They've done plently to try to exploit the war, from the EVIL French team to the EVIL war-protester commie hippie pinko liberal Chris Nowinski to the convenient debut of Mr. America. That's explotation. Offering a free PPV to those who put their fucking lives on the line in Operation Iraqi Liberation - I don't see a problem with that.
(Granted, I think these people have been through enough, and I think they'll be longing for that P.O.W. camp in the middle of the Hell in a Cell match, but that's a whole other thread entirely.)
Armed services number one! USA number one! No link between Iraq and al Queda? Hack-phooey!
Does the company regularly give PPVs to the military? I remember hearing JR welcome our troops overseas a couple of times. Do we have any Wiener soldiers who can chime in?
Of course, it's exploitive. Who are we talking about here?
I can tell you from local experience that there are tons of service people coming home now or soon cycling home and with PLENTY of disposable income burning a hole in the pocket.
So, the opportunity to buy the PPV now (with available cash) and then get a rebate later would probably appeal to a ton of people.

I'm actually more interested in what happens with the "free tickets to live shows" offer. Doesn't San Diego usually get some pretty good regular attendance? I'm thinking the building would be something like 14-15K for wrestling -- and wildly guessing that they probably generally sell 10-12K. Even without The Rock. And there's a lot of military in the area. Hopefully everything will go smoothly, & WWE hasn't "overextended" themselves. (Any San Diegan wieners going to the show?)
A couple of points. 1. Badd Blood won't make more money. But if it's a good PPV (debatable) they will pick up more viewers afterwards. 2. The military is a good sized group. With reservists, NG, and active military it's over 2 million. 2 million who are 80% male, between 18 and 30, and with a lot of disposable income. Perfect advertising group. I know that the Frenchies will win and while they don't deserve it at least KaneVD will be broken up. Raw badly needs a heel. Shit, Test is pretty close to the #4 heel. Test? I mean HHH is 1 fine, Jericho is 2 fine, Christian is 3 uhm O.K, but if RVD (hopefully) or Kane would help the Heel/Face balance.

Tonight: More talk about Triple H! Raw recaps! From R-Truth's favourite city, Green Bay Wisconsin, this is Smackdown! The show opened with Sheamus, who had something to say. He wanted to talk about Triple H. Ugh.
