As is probably evident by my username, I'm a big Jericho mark, so I was curious as to what people think of him. What I mean is what are thoughts on his ringwork, promo skills, who he should feud with next, face turns, attitude, work ethic, etc. Just out of curiosity.

Heh. You're new here. First rule of this place, don't ask questions. People expect you to read backposts and know their preferences.

As for Jericho, let me tell what most ppl think of him around here. Most, think he's a very good but not an excellent wrestler. A notch below Angle and Benoit. He's good on the mic, and always entertaining, and is one of the only good things about RAW nowadays. He lacks intensity however, and is hard to take seriously. Additionally, people around here believe his push as Undisputed Champ was sabotaged by his weekly presentation as a bitch who can barely defend himself. He also needs to beat Triple H...His nemesis who has the most wins over him, to fully assert his mantle at the top. Which is never gonna happen.

Oh and we all forgive him for that "internet fans can go to hell" thing around this time last year.

Ringwork- Top-Notch. Not as crisp as Benoit or as fluid as Uncle Eddie, but I think his psychology and selling are the best in the business. He really makes a match tell a story better than anyone else.

Mic Skills- One of the best today, right up there with the Rock, Angle and Stone Cold. He plays the best heel on the current roster. At his best when he's smarmy and full of himself.

Next Feud- I'd like to see Jericho/Booker T for the IC belt. That would be a badass feud.

Face Turns- He was mega-over as a face in 2000-01, but I prefer him as a heel. He seems better suited to being a sneaky, arrogant sonofabitch.

Attitude/Work Ethic- I don't know the guy, but you can tell he gives 100% and then some.

The following post expresses the opinions of a raving Jerichoholic. He is biased, opinionated and bitter. You have been warned.

Welcome to the Weinerboard, LionHeart. Anothjer fine addition to the bretheren of blatant Jericho-marks. I think Y2J is long overdue for a face turn, and the Highlight Reel is just perfect to do that in. Of course, being a face on Raw means being squashed by Triple H, which is why to this day I wonder what would have happened if Jericho had never ran top speed to get into that limo with the UnAmericans. Damn that Edge and his inability to keep Jericho in a cage!

Anyway, I think a good feud with Booker T could do0 wonders for Jericho's career and could get the IC belt over as a legitimate strap and not just the second-rate belt it became when Triple H and Kane fought for it. I personally think Jericho should win the battle royal to give him some credibility and get a nice face chase of the belt going into Bad Blood or perhaps even SummerSlam. Jericho vs. Booker T at SummerSlam in a decent gimmick match (maybe last man stanging?) could be a show-stealer.

As of Monday, May 9 at 1:14 PM, the Boston Red Sox' Magic Number to clinch the AL East is 135. A combination of 135 Red Sox wins and New York Yankees losses will guarantee the AL East for the Boston Red Sox.

Yeah, I also prefer Jericho as a heel. He was awesome in WCW when he acted like the fans loved him. I hope that he starts showing that more as opposed to saying he doesn't need the fans. It's more entertaining that way, with the fans booing and him thanking them.

I feel the same way about him now as I did a couple of years ago.

I miss WCW Jericho. I miss Ralphus, I miss the Man of 1001 Holds. His character has shifted from a sneaky, whiny and humorous heel who still managed to pull out dominating wins, to a sneaky, whiny not humorous heel who constantly seems to get his ass handed to him.

The first character felt way better than the second....but maybe it's just me....

My thoughts on Jericho are:

The WWE needs to put out a DVD for him that includes WCW footage! He was so classic in WCW.

He is awesome on the mic!

Great in the ring!

And a "Ayatollah of Rock & Rolla"!

Plus, he helps the mentally disabled-see Ralphus!

Chris Jericho is like Kurt Angle or even Ric Flair back in WCW, in that no matter how much crap they give him, he finds some way to make it entertaining.

And nobody has more self-made nicknames. Lionheart. Paragon Of Virtue. Your Role Model. The Ayatollah of Rock'n'Rollah. Y2J. King Of The World. The Living Legend (oops lawsuit). The Highlight Of The Night. I'm sure there's more...

Yeah....but weren't half those holds armbars, or armbar variants? (Canadian Armbar...reverse armbar...)

All kidding aside, I think Jericho's an awesome wrestler, and were it not for my lack of cable and thus RAW, I'd watch him a lot more. He's fast yet remains sharp with his moves, and does indeed have excellent ring psych.

The next couple of months should be interesting for Jericho. Having the High Light Reel is such a fucking boon for his character. If he can start getting some strong wins it'll be the best of both worlds. We get the snarky smark ass character on the nights he doesn't wrestle and some entertaining matches on the nights he does.

I think half of Jericho's problem right now is having Evolution out with injuries. He went from having seperate feuds with Test and Shawn Michaels to just sort of floating around HHH. That last six man with Naitch and HHH was probably supposed to be HHH, Bautista and Orton.

My opinion is slightly different from most people's, apparently. He can be very, very good. When he really wants to show up. When he's motivated & wants to make a match special, he can. If something funky happens, & they need to replan on the fly, he does great. But I don't feel like he totally shows up all the time. That's just the sense I get. I feel like he's good enough to get by without trying too hard, & only occasionally do we see him really all out there.

Since I have that sense about him, then the cocky character isn't quite as much fun as it might be otherwise. The overall package for me ends up being "You're believing too much of your own hype, boy."

We could do lots of "he doesn't get pushed, so why should he keep trying" discussion. To me, that's a futile chicken/egg problem, that we don't have enough insight to resolve.

There's already been discussion of the "Rant Against the IWC" statement on his website. Regardless of his actual feelings on the subject, I think it's an ill-advised position to take. (Kinda like telling your customer that he's an idiot. That may well be how you feel. It may even be true. But it's bad business to tell him so.) Personally, I find it off-putting, beyond the bounds of his heelish character. But hey, whatever he wants to do.

Chris may very well be totally happy -- doing some wrestling, making a ton of money, playing with his band. That's perfectly OK with me. But when asked the question "What do you think about Chris Jericho?", I pretty much have to respond that I don't think he cares all that terribly much. Which makes me slightly sad, 'cause I see it as wasted potential. So I can't really get too invested in him.

But that's just my opinion.

In WCW he was funny, entertaining and creative.

Now, he's still funny and entertaining at times but the creativity is dead. I can't remember one innovative thing he's done in the past two years.

In WCW he was groundbreaking. The man of 1004 moves, Ralphus, Greenberg, lying to make cruiserweight-- all great stuff! And who could forget Jericho complaining to the homeless guy in Washington DC about getting screwed out of his title (and being ordered by the Capital Hill police to vacate immediately)?

I don't know if he's run out of ideas, is being held back by the WWE, or just doesn't care anymore.

I love the Ayatollah!
I like him as a face, but only slightly different than his character now. Pompous ass can stay, but lose the smarmy pussy part. Keep the highlight show, lose the constant losing.

Jericho really pushed the cry baby heel gimmick of wrestling to new over the top levels. Like when he would go to the ring for a match someone ringside would have a poster that says "I'm a Jerichoholic." Jericho would then grab the poster and rip it up and yell into the camera, "I'M TOO GOOD TO BE HIS ROLE-MODEL!" or something like that. Looking back the fans who's posters he ripped up were most likely plants?

My favorite "Monday Night Jericho" skit was when Jericho was in the midst of a feud with Dean Malenko after Jericho beat him at Uncensored and Malenko went "home." Jericho brought out a portrait of malenko to the ring and it had little faces drawn on and Jericho played dumb wonder what the hell happened.

Also can't forget the the time in a bold move to prove he was the master of 1004 holds he actually read a list on nitro in the ring of all the holds he mastered, after going back to the ring after an ad break he was still reading it! Ah, the chaos of WCW .

This is it – the final hard-sell for the “biggest PPV event of all time.” The show unofficially dubbed (cuz WCW can’t afford another lawsuit) War To Finally Settle The Score.
