Is there any point to the folding chairs they have in the ring for Piper's Pit/Highlight Reel? They don't ever seem to be used for sitting, more for being thrown around the ring.

Now can u dig that

I think that IS the point, that they can be used for weapons.... it also makes the set look slightly more talk show-ish, though I'm still in favor of them bringing back standalone sets a la Barber Shop, Body Shop, Funeral Parlor, etc.

Obviously this is the problem with WWE's current situation. There's simply not enough steel folding chairs from the 80's and early 90's to attract fans interest and get them excited about today's star folding chairs.

Vince really needs to think about bringing in some legendary steel folding chairs like the ones from WM VI to teach these new chairs how it's done. These new chairs could really benefit from learning from the legends.

Word in the back is that Vince will also start pushing the big, heavy folding chairs w/ really nice covers while the faster, more talented ones will get held down by HHH and Undertaker on a weekly basis.

Can HHH job himself out to himself and bury himself so badly that even HHH can't recover?

They totally need to bring back the old style sets. They could easily make them smaller and to the side of the ramp. Didn't Mike Awesome have a pretty intense set in WCW for his 70's guy gimmick?

You're easily amused. I myself was thinking "man, I need to do another 'held down by HHH joke' ban."

Well I was more laughing at the above two paragraphs. And wouldn't banning that particular topic limit the WV posts to about 4 a week?

YOU SON OF A BITCH!!! I was just starting to forget about the horror that was the "Lava Lamp Lounge". Then your post comes, and the memories just come flowing back.

*MINOR SMACKDOWN SPOILER ALERT*

Speaking of all the old stars, I was talking to my friend earlier today about the WWE. Now this guy is in no way a member of the "IWC". And what's the first thing he said to me? "What's with all these old guys? Hogan's older than dirt, and Piper is wrestling with a huge gut and a set of fucking tits." You should of seen the look on his face when I told them that on SmackDown, they announced that those two were fighting each other at Judgment Day.

*END OF MINOR SMACKDOWN SPOILER ALERT*

Most of my friends who are non-IWC wrestling fans all have a set of favorite wrestlers comprising of Booker T, Steve Austin, Rob Van Dam, John Cena, The Rock, Undertaker (although it pains me to type that one), and Brock Lesnar. Not one of them has ANY interest in Albert, Bradshaw, Hogan, Piper, Nash, or Big Show WHATSOEVER. That just shows that Vince is COMPLETELY out of touch with the common fan.

I have a question that has been bothering me lately, and I thought I'd post it here, instead of starting a new topic. Why does Kurt Angle have two medals? I know he won in '96 (IIRC), but where's the other one from? Do they give out duplicates?

Kurt won an assload of amateur tournaments and competitions. He didn't JUST win at the Olympics.

I always thought they were from different events in Olympics. Like one is his individual win and the other is a team medal. One's greco and one's freestyle. Something like that.

And note that those aren't his ACTUAL Olympic medals. The '96 Olympics medals were much bigger and weren't attached to red/white/blue straps.

Heh. It was a damn fine rib that made him start using the fake ones. Apparently he'd been using the real ones when he first came in and one day that just disappeared.

Then they reappeared. It so clearly said "Fuck your medals". You gotta love it!

I am aware of that, but they both are identical (Red, White, and Blue Stripes and all that). It's hard to believe that any other tournament would give out something that resembles an Olympic gold medal so closely. And F.A.B., your reasoning makes sense.

Speaking of them being fake: I remember a while back on Raw, they had a commercial for WWE trading cards, and certain cards had some kind of special thing with them (i.e. a part of a the ring from some match, or a part of a person's outfit) and one of the cards they mentioned had "a piece of Kurt Angle's medal's strap". And I remember thinking, WTF? At that point, I knew they had to be fake. 1) Kurt wouldn't allow the WWE to cut up the strap to sell stupid trading cards.
2) I imagine they must have had so many of those cards made, that they probably used yards of that fabric.

According to an interview I read with him, he started using fake ones after one of the real ones flew off while he was fighting someone and it landed in the crowd.

Oh, and I believe in that interview, he mentioned that the other medal was one of the National Championship medals.

What is up with these off topic threads? Folding chairs turn into Kurt's medals. Flair/Hurricane turns into Nash's bird legs.

Anyway, I though the chairs on Piper's Pit were great when they were being broken on Rikishi's fat ass. I think that is as good a reason for them as anything.
