I guess you don't watch Oz.

Best game of Dueling Entrances, EVER (and a DAMN fine match that followed it): Flair vs. Steamboat, Wrestlewar '89.

Ric came out to his traditional Also Sprach Zarathustra, with FORTY WOMEN leading the way. The Godfather's got NOTHIN' on the Nature Boy.

Not to be outdone, Steamboat came out with his wife, and with his son RIDING A PONY. Priceless.

Honorable mention has to go to the J-Crown champions when it had the eight belts combined -- there's something unspeakably cool about the champion needing multiple Japanese girls in swimsuits to _hold all of his title belts_.

And I'm always a sucker for Gran Naniwa, with the crab claws and that demented entrance music...

Okay, okay, I'll stay stateside. I have a soft spot for Al Snow's "WHAT DOES EVERYBODY WANT?" entrance, and when the Pitbulls came rushing out to White Zombie it was quite the adrenaline rush for the crowd.

That just made me remember a Thunder (in Vegas, I think) where Nor-MAN Smi-LAY came out with an entire troupe of showgirls while doing the "Big Wiggle" (SMBU). Whatta sight...

10. Jake the Snake when the opened the bag and threw the snake in the ring and everybody ran like hell.

9. ECW Gangsta's. Walk to ring, throw plunder, kick ass

8. ECW's latter-day RVD because the CROWD GOES WILD! (yay)

7. Ultimate Warrior. He put all of his energy into the intro (and left NOTHING for the actual match.)

6. ECW Sandman. A half hour and a twelve pack later, the match starts.

5. Your Mystery Opponent is Kane (because it works every time)

4. Gangrel's "burning ring-o-far"

3. Goldust

2. WWF 80's Hogan (because the CROWD GOES WILD! (yay)

1. Any Underaker Entrance Ever. That's what makes Taker so cool. He's always had the best entrances.

Correction, it was Sting and Davey Boy Smith feuding with Harlem Heat and Sid Vicious, which brought forth the appearance of the Shockmaster.

As for entrances, here's a few I like:

- Chris Benoit in the WWF. Purely bad-ass music that accompanied the Crippler walk, along with the 'stop under the-titantron-and-stare-at-crowd' pose.

- Jericho's debut. When the crowd saw the name 'JERICHO' appear on the 'tron, that pop was simply intense.

- RVD's most recent. Has a 'Walk' feeling to it, only it's Attitudinalized.

- The New Brood, with Gangrel and the Hardy Boyz. I believe that's when they started using the Twin Guns gesture. Coupled with the 'rising out of the fire' entrance, it was pretty awesome.

- Stone Cold, at Wrestlemania 13 and Summerslam 98, to name a few. I mention those because there was a huge pane of black glass in front of the entrance way with Austin 3:16 on it and it would shatter upon Austin's arrival. They even used it in the old WWF Attitude video game. :) I believe Diesel also used it once at Wrestlemania 11.

- Goldberg. Coulda been ok, if only they weren't so damn long. Plus, if he was so damn invincible, why'd he need all those security guards with him?

- This isn't in the Big Three, but at the fed I work, at we have a tag team called New Breed (and no they're NOT Chris Champion and Sean Royal...just a coincidence). They come out to 'Shock' by Fear Factory while a huge cloud of smoke and a giant strobelight fills the arena. One of em wears kung-fu like garb (like in Matrix) and a gas mask (for entrance) and the other wears Tajiri style pants with a Hardyz style t-shirt. They slowly walk to the ring and both hop over the ropes ala Rockers. Damn awesome entrance.

- Hulk Hogan and Macho Man's entrance at Uncensored 96 when they were about to fight eight guys in the Doomsday Cage. Don't laugh!! Yes, the match was laughable; yes, the eight guys never had a hope in hell of winning; yes, Michael Buffer did call the duo 'the Mega-Force'. But the looks on the men's faces was pretty cool. Gave off a 'shit man, there's a lot of em, how in the HELL are we gonna beat them?'

- Justin Hawk Bradshaw's entrance (long hair, red long vest, bullrope, loud call). I happened to see that one live at a house show. The man is HUGE and he just storms to the ring as if he's ready to kill. And when he threw that bullrope in the ring, I swear about four or five people in the front row jumped in fear of not getting hit.

- Vader, with the red and black lighting treatment.

- LOD 2000. Looking back, the motorcycle helmets were ridiculous, but from a mark's point of view it was seriously damn cool. At the time.

This is where signatures usually go.

I don't think the Shockmaster ever made it to a PPV as "Shockmaster."

Everyone's a Shockmaster expert.
And YOU, Papercuts! are wrong as well because the Shockmaster did in fact wrestle at the next pay-per-view as The Shockmaster...only he was repackaged as a construction worker. It was his last appearance.

So maybe you should read Wrestlecrap as much as dfallan before you jump on him about it.

Hey, I'll own up to it.

Even though I put a "I don't think" qualifier in front of my statement, implying my information isn't solid on this aspect of the character.

I never claimed to be a "Shockmaster expert." Whatever that is. Nor did I claim to even have SEEN said entrance or PPV. I'm sketchy on WCW history. I've never been a fan.

But when someone who's obviously wrong about things makes claims like "I just know about the Shockster's Big PPV entrance" after being busted on incorrect info once already and he clearly doesn't know, I've gotta bust 'em on it, despite sounding incredibly snarky.

I'd rather he just admit he thought what he read somewhere about the character tripping was funny and leave it at that. Because then no one is sniping at anyone else. And we're all happy. :)

Yeah, a lot of my faves have been mentioned already, but here goes:

Goldust- favorite enterance ever in general, and the best one was in his fued with Val Venis. When Dustin was being a preacher guy he kept carrying around signs saying "HE is coming back," and there was weeks of speculation. Finally, with Venis in the ring, that old familar music hits, and Goldust is back!

Shane Helms in WCW- only saw it once or twice, but I really liked it. The Vertebreaker song was awesome in a "We're not Da Mounties" kinda way

DX (Michaels & HHH)- A close second for my favorite ever

Filthy Animals- Not really a favorite of mine, but it was pretty cool

Jericho's debut- best debut for a new superstar EVER. Coulda been there, but I missed it. Damn!

Austin at WM 13 with the glass- I was there! Austin was so damn cool then because he was still more heel like and not so over-exposed.

Gangrel/Brood- Bring back the ring of fire somehow!

Edge & Christian- I loved how the cameras would pan the audience for them, even months after they stopped coming out of the audience

Christian- His new one of course.

Million Dollar Man- Just so good. The music was awesome, as were Ted's tacky suits. And Virgil disrobing him was the perfect touch.

Somebody mentioned the pre-New Generation entrances, but what about the actual New Generation ones? If I remember correctly didn't all the lights go out and there would be a laser show going down the aisle and in the ring (at least for the upper card guys)? For example, I remember Bret had a trail of pink hearts, and Owen had the King of Harts logo. Also, Sid had some random blue circles or something.

Here's what I remeber abdout Shockmaster:

Debut: Flair For The Gold interview segment on a Clash of The Champions show.

Fall Brawl was comming up, and the main event was War Games.

It was to be Sid's team vs. Sting's team (Both were fueding at the time)

Sid announced his Partners as WCW Tag Champs, Harlem Heat, and WCW Champion, Vader

Sting had already annouced that Ric Flair and The British Bulldog were two of his partners, he chose that night to introduce his final partner

"He'll shock you! He's the Shockmaster!"

cheep pyro blast (Think Kane's pyro at Royal Rumble '99)

The wall of the Flair set broke as The man came out. He wore this glitter helment that had.. NO EYE HOLES!!!

Naturaly, Shockkie trippled and his helmet fell off.

Shockmaster put his helmet back on, as Ole Anderson did a voice over.

"You want a peice of me?"

that is the infamous Shackmaster entrance.

Now for MY favorite entrances, in no particular order...

Goldust: I saw this one live at a TV taping, the gold lights and glittler RULE!

Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania 12: The first time the "From the rafters" entrance has been tried at a WWF PPV event

Sting at Starrcade '96: The green lazer lights forming Sting's face on the arena walls, The little kid's Voice Over, The blacked-out arena, the SOLE Spotlight on Sting... priceless.

Christian: The pyro, the music, how can you NOT like this entrance

Gangrel: Burning Ring-O-Far... "Mysterious Red Liquid" (AKA Red Kool-Aid) being spit out... nuff said.

Chyna: Yeah, I said it. Her with that C-200 pyro gun, followed by posing in the ring. IT WAS COOL!

Johnny B. Badd: he would prance out to his music wearing a feather boa and shoot his confetti gun at the audience. IT WAS COOL!

Goldberg: The way he wourld just wlak through the pyro, then snort out the smoke. IT WAS COOL!

King Mabel: I just find it amusting seeing 6 or 8 local workers carring a 500 pound man sitting in a throne on thier shoulders.

Undertaker "Old School": I saw this one live at a TV Taping. The first "bong" in the song and all the lights would go out. the grey (Or purple in later years) spotlight would shine on the dead man as he walked out. He would walk up the ring steps, and rase his arms to bring light to the arena. He would do a "slow arm rase" and a "Fast arm rase" both bersions were cool.

Okay Fine, I admit it, I never saw the Shockmaster! I read it on Wrestlecrap!!!!!

I have sinned against you all(Tears Streaming) I'M A SINNER!!!! But God has forgiven me, so send me your money....

Sorry, I didn't want to imply I was an expert on the guy, but I read it on wrestlecrap and a friend of mine did see it and gave me a lot of details on it (He is in fact someone who knows more about wrestling than I ever will) and if wrestlecrap was still online, I'd have just added a link, but since a few people seemed to be unaware of this guy, I only wanted to give them a little background on what we were discussing.

My only crime was to want to provide information, and not look too terribly stupid, sadly I've failed on both counts.

Never let ignorance of the facts prevent you from discussing a subject at length.

Of course this all got me thinking to an Entrance I ACTUALLY saw (Got it on a compilation tape) WCW Jericho mocking the Goldberg Entrance. Where Jericho is backstage walking around with his security, and they get lost looking for the entrance to the ring. I can't recall if they did this more than once, I think they did, because I remember Jericho walking out a door, and it locks behind him, so he can't get back in (Was he supposed to face Goldberg at this point, I think he wanted to avoid facing whoever he was supposed to fight)

A lot of agreements:
Here are my 10 in no particular order

-Kane's old entrance: The entrance went a long way into making me the Kane mark I used to be. Between the music, the pyro, and the lighting... whew!

-HHH's current entrance: This is so cool words cannot describe it.

-The Hardyz' New Brood entrance: They actually managed to improve on Gangrel's entrance... which is not an easy task. I especially liked the sight of the Hardyz praying while Gangrel did his little ritual, then sprinting to the ring after he spit out the red stuff.

-Booker T: Best pyro ever!

-Shawn Michaels on the zipline: Definitely not something you'd see post-Owen.

-The Ultimate Warrior: Sure he'd get blown up before the match even started, but the entrance, especially the rope shaking, was the coolest thing about him.

-The Showster: No comment.

-Cactus Jack's old WWF entrance: Not only the "Three Foleys in one room" video but the entrance itself, with Cactus throwing random weapons out from the Gorilla position. Plus he had the best music of any of Foley's incarnations.

-"What does everybody want?"

-Edge & Christian running out from the crowd

WCW Jericho mocking the Goldberg Entrance

This was also the introduction to (Dun Dun Dun) RALPHUS!!!

Jericho walked around the backstage, getting lost.

"Ah, here we are. To the ring!"

He opens the door, and it's a broom closet.

He DID make it to the arena once.

He did his "Yeah, Baby" pose and the pyro was supposed to come up...

But all he got was a few sparks from the pyro machine.

My Top 10

1) The Road Warriors - Iron Man theme! There was nothing more bad ass than Iron Man cueing up and the Roadies running down to the ring to beat the shit out of whoever was there.

2) Sandman - There is nothing cooler than being in the front room with Sandman standing on a chair right in front of you dumping one back, dumping one on Missy's chest and licking it off.

3) RVD - Walk... despite it being a cover, Pantera gained a ton of fans simply because of this song.

4) ECW Taz with his knockoff version of Kiss - War Machine.. complete with the banging iron hammer.

5) BWO BWO BWO!!!

6) The Brood

7) Demolition

8) Shane Douglas - Deep Purple Perfect Stranger just for the beginning organ

9) The Mountie

10) Dusty Rhodes - WWF American Dream

I'll again go outside the box.

Magnum Tokyo -- great song. Dancing Girls. Tokyo dancing around the ring and women stuffing dollar bills in his pants. The dance-off with the girls in the ring.

Stoker Ichikawa -- MY MAN. What does a tiny wrestler dressed like the devil come out to? The William Tell Overture.

Shocker/Los Guapos.

In the ironic department, Brazo De Plata. A big fat guy coming out a song about how sexy he is and gyrating like he was Rick Rude.

Classically Speaking -- Stan Hansen/Bruiser Brody in All Japan. Swinging bullrope and chains, running through the crowd, sending thousands of fans scurrying for credit.

A million billion posts ago, Someone alerted me that I had not exactly divulged what made Shocker's entrance at the PPV so incredibly great. Well, it's really quite difficult to describe in words. I quote me discussing this briefly on another board somewhere.

And then this odd procession of girls dressed like Egyptians came down, and one of them was carrying this odd golden head, and I said for some reason, "You know, if this is Shocker's entrance, he is truly the greatest wrestler ever."

And then Shocker came out.

In a giant Blue Costume with a loooooong train and some kind of pope hat.

Shocker is the Greatest Wrestler EVER.

Emilio Charles entered to the Backstreet Boys like usual, except in a toga, but it wasn't NEARLY as cool as it should have been, because we were still stunned from the Shocker entrance.

And then the thoughts of the person who saw it with me:

As much as I hate to repeat words that I said yesterday, I stand by my assertion that the only way this could ever be topped is if Shocker had come out dressed as Mohammed and Charles had come out dressed as Jesus.

It's so incredibly great and I feel bad for spoiling it because it's like seven times greater when you don't know what the hell is going on. Still, I can do it no proper justice anyway.

I always thought that the Midnight Express w/Jim Cornette entrances were pretty cool. Jim Cornette always swiping the microphone away from the ring announcer to introduce the team, because he was the only one who could do it right and give his team the proper justice. And their theme music was just cool.

Man, I like D'Lo too, but just because I can be a "I miss D'Lo!" Net Smark doesn't make him a better European Champion. I mean, I mark out huge for Maven and Kane, but that doesn't mean that Kane was the best WWF Champ, or that Maven is the best Hardcore champ (but he will be!).
