Thank you very much for clearing that up for me. I have been off/on searching for the complete onslaught saga. That is pretty much the beginning of the end, when the proverbial "shit hit the fan" (no pun intended). #25 huh? I'm getting it today.

As for X2, haven't seen it yet, but this was pretty much my only reason to want to wait in line and pay 8 bucks now and all that stuff. No matter how cool the movie was/is I would have been disappointed if I went through all dat, and Wolvie didn't get dealt wit. Anything else can simply wait til discount theater, or til the video is released. That was actually 2 birds with one stone right there.

The fact that Halle Berry (and not Naomi Campell) is playing Storm would be enough to ruin it right there. Not to mention that fact that Sean Connery or Paul Newman or somebody else should've played Magneto and not that gay dude (no offense to anyone) he's pretty mean though so it kinda makes up for it. Knowing that Sabretooth isn't in doesn't help either. And knowing how Lady DS is used... don't get me wrong. I will watch it eventually, but I'll probably enjoy it better for 4 bucks instead for 20+.

You said so many weird things in this post I don't even know where to begin...

You won't see the movie because they didn't do the retarded "adamantium gets ripped out hey look I still have claws next I'll becomes a retarded savage in a doo rag mask" stuff? Quite frankly, they're better off NOT doing that stuff cuz I recall it going over like a lead balloon for the most part...

Ian McKellan sucks as Magneto and the only reason you can be bothered to even allude to is because his gay? At least try to back up your opinion, cuz I have heard this from ZERO people before and I genuinely am curious as to why you think he sucks. And why would a concentration camp survivor be a suitable role for a man who can only speak in a Scottish brogue? Did the Nazis hit Scotland when nobody was looking?

And while I'm at it will someone tell me where all this Lady Deathstrike is in the upper echelons of X-villainy stuff is coming from? I keep seeing people complaining about her backstory not being given and how she shouldn't have been a one off and so on, but last time I checked she's never done anything more than be one of the better "villains with strikingly similar powers as Logan" from his solo comic... I know she was a Reaver and all, but do we really want that group of villains acknowledged in the movies at this juncture?

Naomi Campbell instead of Halle Berry?! Sean Connery instead of Sir Ian? Dear lord, that casting would result in a "Fantastic Four" style movie.

Plus, being as Magneto sucks due to the gay actor, I guess that means Nightcrawler and (rumoured) Wolverine suck too.

Ian McKellen is great as Magneto. He brings just the right civilized veneer to cover his essentially flawed nature. He was also great as Gandalf and fucking fantastic as Richard III. I can't see what his sexuality has to do with his ability as an actor.

I'm not big on Halle Berry as Storm (though I don't think she's as bad as others have suggested). I agree with whoever suggested it that Angela Bassett might have been a better choice.

Magneto, Nightcrawler, and Wolverine are gay? Damn, might as well just start calling them the 'X-dressing Men'. Har har har.

Ok, here's my quibble with the movie:

Near the end, when everybody escapes out of the base, they find the X-Jet nowhere to be seen. We later see that Rogue is trying to fly/land it, rather badly.

My question is: what the HELL was she doing flying it in the first place??! Weren't they already on the ground and weren't Rogue and Bobby specifically told to wait in the jet?!

Now, I can consider the option that they were trying to chase Magneto after Pyro had joined him; but this is weird...

Well son, you wouldn't know where to begin cuz you're a ja..... nah. I'm not gonna go there. This is like the second time you misconstrued something that I posted so that you can talk trash. Really though, theres no reason why you cant just use that cool new IGNORE feature the Zims set up. You obviously don't know the magnitude of that little run-in they had. And the fact that you know nothing about Lady Deathstrike, proves that point even more. Furthermore, you're not cool enough for me to try to explain it to your ignorant ass so educate your-damn-self. Yeah Wolvie got a little corny after that but that's not the point is it?

2NDLY:
I never said Ian McKellan sucks, he did. Really, he is pretty convincing as Magneto. I said that they could have used another older looking guy that was more...I don't know. He just seems too noble or something. Sean Connery was an example, as someone else that couldve worked, nevermind the Scottish accent.

For the record, Magneto is German. That gay dude is English I think, doesnt make much of a difference does it? He wasnt the only one I mentioned either, but here are some more, just for kicks; Arnold Schwarzenegger or that guy that plays on the soap operas (sorry I dont watch them but hes a dead ringer for him, you would recognize him if you see him). As for Storm, Naomi Campell is just another example. Angela Basset definitely would work. So would just about any other fine ass black chic.

I kinda took it that Wolverine was taking them to the helicopter where he'd left Stryker to get away from the dam breakage. They couldn't get to the plane because it was far away enough that it couldn't be detected by Stryker's security, which also made it out of dam breakage range, which also made it impossible to get to before the damn broke because they would've just ran away from the damn instead of worrying about a vehicle if it was that far from being safe from the dam breaking. So, Rouge, Iceman, and the jet were all safe from the dam, but they came and got the others.

OK. Let's see if I can clear this up for you without overreacting like you just did...

I think I've made like 5 posts TOPS on this board in the last 2 months or so, none of which had anything to do with you, so any grudge you think I have is all in your head. I reread my post, and other than failing to adjust my usual tone to accomodate people who don't know me, and misconstruing your Magneto comment as indicitive of you having a stronger dislike for the performance than you actually do, there's nothing to warrant your kick to my nuts.

You DID say you weren't going to see X2 in the theatres because of the failure to include the adamantium getting ripped from Wolverine (which I still feel was retarded because it served no justifiable purpose other than as a one time cool thing. I certainly don't recall it leading to anything worthwhile, which is why I feel using it as a reason the movie isn't worth your money is weak); my not seeing it comment was directed at that statement and as you specifically said you'd see it eventually I don't see how anyone can think my comment was meant any other way. And since you still haven't bothered to explain just why this would be such a good thing to put in the movie, I'm going to chalk this up to a matter of differing tastes.

As for the whole Sean Connery thing, my point was that the man has never, and probably can't, speak in a standard (i.e. unaccented) dialect. Yeah McKellan is British, but he doesn't use a British accent in the movie and so its a non-factor. I'm not even going to touch the other people on your alleged list, but I'd love to know how you know this soap opera guy looks like me when you've never seen me...

I never said you didn't like the performance cuz McKellan is gay either by the way, thats something everyone else chose to run with. I said that his sexuality was the only thing you mentioned that even ALLUDED to why you didn't think he was right for the part, and I asked you to back up your statement because I had heard it from absolutely nobody up til now. But to be frank, if you can't remember someone's name and all you can think to do is to call them "the gay dude" when saying something that can be taken negatively, then you kind of shouldn't be surprised when people assume you mean it negatively.

The Lady Deathstrike thing I was dead serious about and is not based off of comments made on this board alone and certainly wasn't directed at you. Plus I never said I know NOTHING about Deathstrike, I just said that what I do know does not warrant her being a main villain. I'm not going to get into a who knows more about comic books war with you; like I said I am genuinely curious why so many people are so bummed that she's a minor character in the movie.

Hopefully this clears everything up for you. The rest of your post was quite humorous.

I don't know that much about her, but as I understand it, she and Wolverine have quite an extensive history in the backstory of the comics. I think it might have even been a romantic one, or at least a friendship.

On the other hand, I could be absolutely wrong. (:

I believe that the Wolverine/Deathstrike backstory is part of either the early Wolverine mini-series where he's in Madripoor as Patch, or in the old-school Marvel Comics Presents series, which also included Wolvie's zany Madripoor adventures.

As for Magneto's ethnicity, I believe they kept him vaguely European. [His assumed last name was Lensherr, but not his REAL last name]. All he had to be was European, and a concentration camp survivor. I think that Stan Lee & the later writers wanted to keep a "It could've been you" mystique to the character, which I think Sir Ian McKellan maintains.

I didn't like the whole Wolverine adamantium saga for the same reasons I didn't like the Spider-Man clone saga. It went on too long, it seemed like they didn't know where they were going with it, and it ended rather lamely. [For those who weren't comic fans back in "the day", Apocalypse gave Wolvie his adamantium back].

All in all, I go to Marvel movies because it seems like they're starting from the early classic stories and gradually moving forward. That's what I like to see.

Dude, please pay attention to what I said. I didn't say you looked like no old dude from the soaps. I said you look like Arnold Schwazenegger.

Now I have a pretty good memory (it's a blessing and a curse) and if memory serves correct. You did a similar thing in that dumb-ass "JR HATES BLACKS" thread. Anyway, I don't like confrontation. As they say in the movies, "I'm a man of peace, I'm done killing."

Seriously, I was not trying to offend anyone at 1st. And if I did, a private message probably would have been more appropriate. No one likes to be publicly critized, especially unprovoked.

When I said that I wasn't gonna go through the trouble. That meant the trouble of waiting in a long-ass lines, sitting in a spot that I really don't want, and not being able to hear everything, spending around 20+ bucks on top of that (depending on the situation). You know, normal stuff that happens when a big movie comes out. Like I said in my 1st post, I can wait til it's $2 dollars or until it's video release. That's not retarded, but my perogative.

I'm am totally willing to forget about this. And as a token of my extension of the olive branch. I'll tell you why the metal stripping thing is so significant, to me anyway...

I haven't read many comics since the Onslaught Saga 5-8 years ago. Cuz to me, that was the end of Marvel comics as I knew it. That re-creation stuff could have been better. But what happened was Wolverine almost killed Magneto and Magneto was like "That's it dude, you pissed me off for the last time.." Not exactly in those words though. And he ripped his metal from him. Reminded me of HellRaiser for some reason. Anyway, when Magneto did that, Xavier was like "You're a really bad dude, you're goin down" (not exactly) and gave Magneto a bad case of amnesia. Anyway this created Onslaught who kicked everybodies ass and eventually caused most of the Marvel super heroes to commit suicide.

Absolutely the most intense series of comics I've ever read. That's why I want the complete package for my personal collection. May not be cool to other people, but I would love to see that on a big screen. That would be worth waiting hours in line and all that other stuff.

Lady Deathstrike and Wolverine were in-love and engaged at one time. She thought Wolverine killed her father and has been pissed ever since. She wasn't always like that, I think she did that stuff to her hands just for Logan. Have you ever been attacked by a woman/man that you love? Definately a big part of Wolverine's history and should be acknowleged.

I hope we can be friends now.

That and I think Deathstrike was supposed to be the one to receive the adamantium bonding process (which her father invented), but Logan screwed all that by killing him.....

Neo, no offense was intended with my posts and I didn't take any from yours, so as far as I'm concerned we're fine. Thanks for explaining your opinion. The main reason I never liked the adamantium removal was because, while totally cool, the way it was handled after the first few months made it seem like they only did it as a stunt to boost sales and that they didn't really know where they were going to go with it for the long term. I wasn't into the Onslaught saga for the same reason; it seemed like a stunt to get the Heroes Reborn thing going and not an actual attempt to create something cool and well written for the X books. Thats not to say it didn't have it's moments but as a whole I wasn't impressed.

I did forget about Deathstrike's father coming up with the bonding process for adamantium, which IS something that would have been cool had they touched on it in the movie, but I can also see why they chose to not mention it.

Wizard magazine actually had an article a month back that was supposed to be Stryker's secret files on all the main mutants in the film, and they did talk about Deathstrike's father and how Stryker killed him and stole the adamantium bonding from him, so maybe that info ended up on the cutting room floor?
