Ultimo Dragon gave a press conference regarding his future in the WWE. He will debut at the 5/18 "JUDGMENT DAY" PPV in Charlotte, NC. Dragon is conscious of the fact that the fans in the U.S. won't remember him, because his stints as Cruiserweight and TV champion in WCW were 6 years ago. He has ordered a new black mask and a new ring costume, because he wants to change his whole image before he starts in WWE. His biggest dream is to work a match at the world famous MSG in NYC. He is in contact with WWE since September 2002, when he had a meeting with Johnny Ace. WWE hasn't decided yet if he will be part of the RAW or SMACKDOWN crew. But if he will end up on SMACKDOWN, we will take part at WWE's Japan shows on 7/18 in Kobe (they still haven't booked an arena!) and 7/19 at the Yokohama Arena.

Here's a pic of Ultimo Dragon's new mask, from the press conference, in which he will use in the WWE.

So it is now official, Ultimo Dragon will debut for the WWE in less than 2 weeks. OH BOY, CAN'T WAIT!!

Yikes! He could have someones eye out with those spikey things on the top of his mask

Great news about him coming to the WWE though. Can't decide which brand I'd rather see him on. A fight with Rey Rey would be cool as all hell but I can really see him adding something to RAW as well. Jericho, Booker and Hurricane would all be capable of putting on good matches with him.

But regardless, great news.

That's almost worth buying the PPV alone! Jesus, it's going to be great to see him back. I wonder if he can influence the WWE to bring in Magnum Tokyo for us as well?

He's almost gotta be in the Battle Royale, huh? Wonder how that will shake out, entry-wise. (What the final stips will be).

He's *gotta* be on SD. He just doesn't fit in on the Raw roster (see Helms, Shane).

And does anybody else think it's a mistake to just throw him out there on the PPV w/ no build-up? Will the average WWE fan have any idea who he is? There's no Cruiser match (yet) on the PPV, so how are they going to debut him?

IMO, they'd be better served running video promos like they did for Rey, rather thab rushimg him out there.

I wish, Magnum TOKYO would rule, but if i had a choice to bring someone else with Ultimo Dragon. I'd bring either his awesome counterpart, DRAGON KID or CIMA.

Now there's a guy(Dragon Kid) who would be a huge star. His Dragonrana, Christo, and Dragon Ray moves would easily get him over. Plus you would get a new tag team...Dos Dragons(Utilmo and Dragon Kid)

And if CIMA joins. We would get the moves that are gone from the WWE right now, including the Mad Splash aka the 'Lo
Down. And new moves like the Inoclasm, Perfect Driver(cross-legged Michinoku Driver), and Schwein(Kryptonite Krunch variation)

BUT I'M DREAMING NOW.

As for Ultimo Dragon concerns of him becoming CHOKE SLAM fodder for the Big Show. I would hate for that to happen. Seeing one of, if not the best cruiserweight or junior heavyweights in the wrestling/puroresu world reduce to a jobber is sight to sad to watch or bare. GOD, I HOPE IT DOESN'T HAPPEN.

You are dreaming. There's no way the WWE would let them do most/all of those moves.

I'm hoping he gets the Rey Rey treatment, since he could be hella over if they booked him like Rey Rey as not just a cruiser, but as a real player.

Oh, man, I hope he isn't Big Show fodder. I'm praying that we will see a drastically reduced role for Show after Brock beats his ass at Judgment Day. It does seem rushed, though. I'd like to see Ultimo Dragon with a video package showcasing some of his crazy moves, like they did with Rey, but having him come in out of nowhere and actually do those crazy moves on somebody might get him over, too.

I do think he belongs on Smackdown, but I wouldn't mind a Dragon vs. RVD or Jericho feud on Raw. I think the Cruiserweight division would give him a more lengthy storyline, though. With Hardy, Rey, and Ultimo Dragon, they could really push the Cruisers (not that they will, but they COULD...)

How has Ultimo Dragon been since coming back from that botched surgery on his arm? Anyone know how long his deal is with the WWE will he only be around like a few months?

Ultimo's a great wrestler, but I doubt we'll see him do much more than job to Matt Hardy on PPV. But hey, I'd be happy to see him feud with Lesnar for the title Or even form a legitimate tag team with Rey Misterio and go for the titles.

Apparently it's a 3 year contract, which is not exclusive, so he can wrestle shows in japan if he wants. I saw him back in December, and he looks fine.

Hey wow two threads of the same thing.

(Meltzer says he's just showing up to say hi. Perhaps like this:

Ultimo: HELLO EVERYBODY!
ALL: Hi Dr. Dragon!
Matt: uh oh
)

What's intersting to me is how exclusive and binding that contract. I mean, it's one thing if can disappear for a month or so every so often and work Japan, but it'd be another if he could spend his weekends in Mexico wrestling for CMLL, like he's doing this week. (Because I get one of those for free and not the other ones.)

I got serious odds against him still being around in a permemant role in three years, though. Not anything aginast him, just wondering how much he'll have to do.

As much fun as Ultimo and Rey Rey could be, I'd rather see Ultimo and Malenko run through another batch of matches. Their WCW stuff was marvelous.

And would Ultimo be able to use his Dragon Sleeper now that Taker stole it?

The coyote goes... While I agree that Magnum TOKYO, Cima, and the Dragon Kid on my TV on a consistent basis would be awesome, I doubt it would be any good for any of them, thanks to their being small and all (see; Kaientai's first inception in the WWF against Val Venis).

Also, it's a good bet that Ultimo will wind up on Smackdown to pair up with Tajiri and Funaki, and we'll get WWE Gang Warz '03, but instead of Los Borricuas (sp?), DOA, and the NOD, we'll get the FBI, the Japanese triad, and probably some other oddball group led by Benoit (yes, Benoit/Dragon, you may start drooling).

According to the Observer, Ultimo Dragon will not appear at Judgement Day. He'll be in attendance, but he is just supposed to have a meeting with agents and the alleged creative people.

You know... not much excites me (wrestling-wise) in the U.S. anymore, but this could be SO cool! If the WWE writers and VKM weren't such asspipe idiots with a hard-on for roided-up goons.

As much as I'd LOVE to see a 10 minute HHH promo interrupted by the Magnum TOkyo dancers and a little "Tokyo, GO!" THe shit ain't happenin'! Ultimo would get a fat check for a while, a little more exposure, then he'd tire of getting anally fisted by WWE (like WCW did years ago) and walk away pissed off and sore, and if he's lucky with a few friends made who can make the occasional appearance in Toryumon.

You know what I wanna see?! Triple HGH getting stretched 40 ways to Sunday by Milano Collection A.T., Speared by Shuji and hit multiple times by the Porn Star Press from Magu!

A man's GOTTA have dreams!

Two hours later they decided to stop at a diner
Because they loved the smell of eggs and coffee
I just had to smoke a cigarette and wear a hat
By the time that they set off again, the sun was starting to set
It made the sky look red like a nuclear ray
One of them said "what do you want more than anything
in this whole wide world
Do you want money, do you want sex, or do you want all that success?"
I thought about that one myself
(Then they came upon the thing)

Cubs Fan made a good point. I'd rather see Ultimo Dragon on Raw so that Matt Hardy can STILL GET PUSHED, GODDAMMIT!!! Ultimo on Smackdown will KILL Mattitude, guaran-damn-teed. Maybe Ultimo and Hurricane can start a mutual-admiration society, or he can get something going with Jericho on the Highlight Reel based on both of theirs' days in Japan...

do you think with Rey returning next week that the wheels will be put in motion for Ultimo???? I am so excited about him joining with the WWE. I really haven't been this excited for a newcomer in quite some time.

To be fair, WCW was changing writers/bookers every 4 to 6 months, while TNA is being consistent with their staff. Only problem being that they seem to only know how to beat the same dead horse.
