The latest on Jim Ross is that he will step down as the head of talent relations from WWE at the end of this summer. Word going around backstage in WWE is that Ross is stepping aside either to free himself up or is being forced out in favor of John Lauranitis (also known as Johnny Ace). Lauranitis has gotten over well and undoubtedly has grown very popular amongst wrestlers backstage. It is a secret to no one that Lauranitis has been trying to secure more power in the company, however, Ross’s move is said not to be based on power, but rather a move that Ross himself has decided to make.

Ross has been slowly giving up duties in the department of talent relations in WWE, even so many that he no longer is required to attend the SmackDown tapings each week. Ross will continue to announce RAW along side Jerry Lawler and is expected to return next week, being brought back by Steve Austin as the new co-general manager for the show.

Hmmm, this could be good for the WWE. Hopefully Johnny Ace just doesn't play Jim Hoss Part Deux, and actually tries to push people other than the usual suspects, and doesn't herald the return of the LOD.

Wow. This announcement is the exact opposite of what I was hoping for out of Ross. He can be head of whatever he feels like off screen, but I do not want him to touch a WWE headset ever again. I hate his announcing. Hate it. I wish he would leave my tv, and for once not come back.

I'll go out on a limb and state this will eliminate the possibility of any Dynamic Dudes or Sheepherder matches with Johnny Ace as Flag Bearer from being on From The Vault.
Whether Ace is the right guy to take over talent is questionable, but its about time that Jim Ross was relieved of those duties. Ross has to take the blame for the big name guys he helped signed who have been injury prone or just awful (Nash, Steiner, Nathan Jones etc.). Throw in the fact that his 'boys' (Foley and Austin) are retired or unable to compete in the ring, and it shows that Ross' position of power is no longer safe.
Now, if only Vince does his usual screwing over of a person and gets rid of Ross on the mic (while providing at least a semi-competant replacement), this will be a good move.

I hate Swamprats. Payback for the Celts against the team led by a wifebeater/child abuser (he did break his kids collarbone in public). And 12 wins until Banner #17.

From what I've heard, they're off the juice, and don't have the 'hard' look anymore.

If that's the case, I bet people will say they've deteriorated when they've done the best thing for their longterm health.

I think this is a current pic (as of the last few months)

LOD does look pretty good in that photo, unfortunately they are still very very old and years ago they were bad, can't imagine how brutal they are now.

As for J.R I respected the hell out but that's dropped a lot. What I really want to do is show him archive Ross Reports from late 99, 2000 early 2001. And force him to see all the stuff he made fun of WCW, all the stuff that he correctly called them stupid for doing. Talk about the family atmosphere in the WWE and how everyone is working for one goal and promoting from within of young talent. All the stuff he talked about WWF being so much better then WCW and how him how everything he said was wrong with WCW in that era is going ten times worse in the WWE... We have fights in airplanes and backstage, we have people getting world title shots ONLY on the bases of who their friends are. Young talent not getting rewarded and in return being demoralized.

Last few years they signed disasters like Kronik (remember that!) Drunken Hall and broken down Nash, Steiner (who I'm shocked he's doing this well but still sucks). Just bad and awful signings. I wonder how much is Vince pushing for these guys, but whatever the case reading the archive Ross Reports it makes him look like a hypocritical fool.

I really have no clue how Johnny Ace would do. And honestly I dont know how much power does J.R have. I know he signs people but does he have a big say on who gets pushed and who doesn't they get signed. I really don't know

No, they've deteriorated because they can't even do their finisher properly anymore.

Wasn't it Johnny Ace who removed Matt from the Rey injury angle and pushed for Albert to take his place?

At least JR's two "boys" could draw. If this change means that we're getting the LOD.....

While I don't personally want the see the Warriors again, it is consistent with the nostalgia pushes right now.

NOW, if the third brother gets a try-out, the one who used to work as the Terminator, then I'd say something is fishy.

Somehow I doubt Ross is the one thats forcing the click storylines down the peoples throats. Ross, Steph, VKM, I think they can all share the blame. I'm sure if one of them was heavily opposed to signing Nathan jones and Steiner, they would have veto power. Its easy to make one person the scapegoat, but the company's problems are too extensive.

Sometimes an organization needs a shakeup just to shake things up.

Hey, at least with Kronik they had the common sense to realize what a terrible idea bringing them in was once they stunk up the ring at Unforgiven. (Or so I heard. I was *at* that PPV, but figured that was the best time to hit the concession stands. I was right - and I've still never actually watched that match.), and fired them immediately afterwards.

If they still had at least that much sense, Steiner would've been out on his ass after the Royal Rumble.

They made the deal with Spike TV while Raven was world champion and Nash was long gone for months on end. This was also after their WGN deal fell through the cracks. I don't want to get into it too much.
