WOW WOW WOW!!! I loved it. Ok, there wasn't much wrestling...mainly story. Who else popped for the IC Strap? What was there 5 matches? I actually expect a rating drop from this one for some reason. Well, who's with me or against me.

PS: I was on yahoo chat and they were predicting Stunner or two bald guys drinking beer...hmm...personally would have liked a stunner but you know a beer bash was ok for it to be in Canada.

PSS: Who thought Trips and Nash went a bit to long?!?

A few thoughts:

They have found a worse way to award a title than just handing it to someone. Royal Rumble rules, I can live with for crowning a vacant title. However, a regular battle royal? That just brings back too many memories of the AWA of early 1989 to inspire any confidence. If someone dives at their opponent to get eliminated to end the battle royal, Tom Zenk will start complaining its a conspiracy against him.
An opening 20 minute interview to set up a Jerry Lawler match? At least if Lawler had pulled a swerve and screwed JR, it would have been interesting.
Face vs. Face tag matches have no rythym.
Does Morley getting fired mean they are going to forget about the Dudley/Storm-Morley feud?
Kevin Nash getting boo-ed just seems natural. The crowd really seemed to stop giving a damn though halfway through the brawl.
Plus, Nash in a match in Philly the week before the PPV? I'm going to be the first to predict lightning strikes twice in the same building to the same person.
Have the writers figured out whether Test and Steiner are splitting up? In hour 1, they appear to be, in hour 2 they save each other without any miscommunication. At the very least, be consistent throughout the same show.
Surprised their was no truck with the ramp missing, and the last quarter hour was extremely dull.

I guess they didn't want Goldberg wearing his "Stone Cold-ish" black tights anymore.

To me its sad that Christian will become the next victim of Goldy. I rather see Christian in a different match, but oh well.

Maybe its me, but did it seem that anyone was really into the Nash/HHH fight? I kept changing the channel at that point.

Although, matches were ok. Great to finally have the IC title back.

Yeah, I marked out for the IC title... does this mean SmackDown! will have the European title?

If I didn't know better, I'd say Lance Storm got a bigger pop than Booker T!

La Resistance seemed a little off tonight... I blame inexperience, and the fact that they're learning to work "WWE Style", whatever the blue hell that is.

The jury's still out about Goldberg's new tights.

Damn, that HHH/Nash street fight was BRUTAL!

Was Theodore Long's slip-up intentional? I say NOT!

I marked out BIG for the Austin/Goldberg confrontation. Sure was surreal seeing the two drink beer together. Austin swimming in the beer puddle was hilarious.

With the exception of Jericho on the mic, Raw pretty much blew.

--Bisch/Austin - blah
--IC Battle Royal - interested to see whom they put the strap on. With my luck, it'll be Bradshaw.
--Test & Steiner vs. RVD & Kane - blah. Test, Steiner, and Kane in the ring at once ? Ewwww.
--Jericho on the mic - GOLD~!
--HHH/Nash brawl - slooooooow and boring. Is this what the JD match will be like? Ouch.
--Book/Storm - decent, nice reaction for Storm
--Trish/Jazz - blah. Teddy Long blowing his spot was good for a chuckle
--Spike & Dreamer vs. Le Resistance - eh. Should have been more of a squash. More Test & Steiner? Why not?
--Goldy/Christian/Beer Bash - colossal waste of time

I'm sorry, Raw sucked. And next week, Jericho has to try to carry Nash in a match. Either that, or he's getting sqashed. Oh boy!

EDIT: Hurricane never held the IC Title. Me dumb.

Okay, that was kinda fun…

Lawler’s “Pick me Steve” reminded of the great angle that led to the appearance of Dude Love, which kicked off the “Summer of Love,” which was about as fun as wrestling gets.

Are Hunter and Nash still fighting? I swear I thought Nash was going to frame the elbow in the corner, which would have been oddly appropriate for such a ridiculous “brawl,” saved by Hunter’s manly use of the blade. Say what you want about Helmsley, but his blade-work is top-notch.

That ending was pretty wild, and you could tell that Austin was having the time of his life out there. For a guy who has entertained me for so long that is probably hurting so badly that his body has failed him when he had so much of an opportunity, it was good to see him swimming in beer and trying to catch and toss beers behind his back and under his leg. The face-to-face shot with Goldberg was pretty nice and historic as well.

Tonight didn’t exactly set the world on fire with dazzling ringwork, but for a Monday night it made me smile.

One Dog’s opinion.

...and a Fashion Report, too. C'mon, it couldn't hurt to read it.

Hey, Austin's got the briefcase - he raised it himself!, in black "StonCold Inc." skull-tshirt and jean shorts, wearing kneebraces (just to talk?). And he hits some "reset" buttons. DeadCowMan, in a black leather jacket, and Chief, in a black suit and blue shirt (no tie) inject themselves. And Bisch books the begging-to-be-aborted match of Nash/HHH. The dumb Okie, in black hat, white shirt and black jeans, is back, gone, back, gone, etc. Chief re-introduces Trial By Combat. And it took only 19 minutes of my life.

King, in his gear, vs. Chief, in suit pants and dress shoes. A poor match, the best we could have hoped for (c'mon - we all KNEW the outcome). Bisch slaps Chief. Austin stunners Coach - what an asshole.

Chief gets fired. Meanwhile, while JR and King talk, in the background Coach gets dragged out of the ring.

Rob, in yellow/black/red green "RVD" singlet, and Kane, in exposing straps-and-spandex, carrying the titles, vs. SPP, in chainmail and black "Freakzilla" tshirt and trunks, and Text, in black full-cuts, with Stacie, in plae yellow, flowing shirt, and SHORT black skirt. Hey, where has Golddust been? Okay match.

Austin/Bischoff odd couple crap. Meanwhile, Nash is walking ('cuz that's ALL he can do)!

The Highlight Reel. Jericho, in black/white checkered shirt and pants, has his own set! Slow-Poke, in black, slowly walks to the ring. He gets slow-burning pyro. he slowly gets to the point. Trips, in light blue shirt and black slacks, carrying the belt, is there. Nash slowly goes down. Punch, punch, punch - OMG, a knee! Compared to Nash, I LOVE HHH! Boring and plodding. At least HHH bladed nicely. This segment coulda used some clangy poles.

Congrats, Jericho - you'll be jobbing to SlowPoke next week. It's been 1:20 and we've had two matches. If you can consider Chief/King a match.

Booker, in white hot-crotch, flamin' "BookerT" undies, vs. Lance, in red undies, with the Canadian flag. Hey - Booker can't be in the IC Battle Royale. Okay match - too short for much more.

Frenchies, in black tights with yellow stripes and red/white/blue beltwraps, vs. Tommy Dreamer and Spike, both in "3D" tshirts. Wha - Tommy wears a Dudleys' shirt?

Trish, in red, vs. Jazz, in silver bra and skirt, wearing the belt, sith Teddy and Mack.

Christian, in green, vs. Goldberg, in half-black/half-white full-cuts. Samoan Jobbers and Rico, in silver pants (NO shirt) come out. Goldberg no-sells all. Why the hell did Goldberg go for a cover? And why did Nick Patrick count the pin on Rico? That doesn't make ANY sense.

Austin meets Goldberg, a match is booked, and beer is drank for, like, five minutes.

Overall: Okay, I've been digging Raw for the past month. But this week's episode makes me feel like rectal bleeding is an entertaining alternative. The pacing was non-existant (20 minutes for the opening promo, 20 minutes for the Nash/HHH bit, and 10 minutes for the Austin/Goldberg thing at the end). Matches were short and never had time to develop. Everything that was good in the last month wasn't there this week.

JR's back - crap. I was liking Coach. And why the hell does Austin have to go and stunner him? Fuck Austin.

Edit: I actually wanted to turn it off at 9:30, but foolishly believed there might've been something good yet to come. I was so disappointed.

Everything was great, except for those camera whores Thhhor and Nash. Their segment went way too long. I'll give you an idea. As soon as the brawl started, I ran upstairs and fixed myself a sandwich. I came back down and they were still going at it, for another five minutes.

And now…it’s RAW IS CHEAP CANADIAN POP NIGHT! Cripes…Why didn’t they roll out Bret Hart while they were at it.

Which actually made for a pretty good show. I loved the Austin/Bischoff segments, every one of them. As for the ending…ummmm….okay….

Easily the best part of the whole HHH/Nash segment was Jericho. He started it, he ended it, and he did it in great heel fashion. Did I actually hear JR try to sell the “Diesel Sucks” chant by selling HHH as being Canadian?!? And how stupid did he sound like he felt saying it?

Let’s start the show off with a little tribute to Miss Elizabeth…then let’s sell her off as tabloid fodder on “Confidential”!

The Intercontinental title is back. Color me happy. Now how many guys on the RAW roster are eligible to be in the battle royal based on Austin’s rules (“All RAW roster wrestlers who are former IC champions” if I heard correctly)? RVD, Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash, Goldust, HHH, Kane, Chris Jericho, Test, Christian, Storm, and Morley if the cheat sheet I found on Google is correct. And assuming Morley was only “fired” as Chief of Staff and not as active wrestler… Plus there’s Austin, but he’s not active. And will Nash and HHH be involved if they’re having their match?

How exactly is Rico supposed to be pinned when he wasn’t even in the match that never took place?!?

Eh. I had fun. Good show, mostly thanks to Austin and Jericho.

I read Test's run-in less as his being concerned about Steiner and more as being pissed at La Resistance for hitting on/trying to hire Stacy. Maybe Test is actually one of those smart enough to watch the show!

The Triple H/Nash brawl dragged, but at least Trips broke out a good bladejob, and it was fun watching the crowd turn completely on Nash. Kevin Nash getting shit on is prime entertainment in my book. Watch that Judgment Day buyrate fall!

So let's see: Booker T, meaningless midcard match. RVD and Kane, tag champs who don't actually get any angles or feuds of their own. Jericho, interviewer who will either be fed to Nash or brushed aside in favor of a Triple H run-in or both. All safely locked away from the upper card. Good work, Trips!

The Austin/Goldberg scene at the end was fun, but it just went on and on and on and on ... I realize that, being a live show, they may occasionally need to vamp to fill up time until CSI, but usually they have no trouble.

I love canadian fans. Booing Nash over everything he did was wonderfully entertaining. Well that and letting poor Lance Storm be over for a night.

Without Booker in the IC Battle Royal, who should win? My guess would be Jericho, who would then feud with Booker. But if Jericho is in the IC battle Royal, who is Goldberg gonna face?

How long did that Nash/HHH brawl take? It felt like an hour.

Poor Jericho and Hurricane. Nobody watches Heat, although the effort to change that is admirable.

The women's match was easily match of the night, although more by default than anything else. Teddy Long slipping on the apron with his shoe was hilarious.

Christian should run with the people's champ gimmick. He could be golden if he works at it.

Goldberg's Pride-esque tights aren't working for me. It's odd how the WWE has managed to take every unique thing about Goldberg and change it into their own WWE-ized version. They're destroying his mystique piece by piece.

An enjoyable Raw, but not for the right reasons.

Quick question- was the WWE intentionally trying to tick off their audience?

You're in Canada- let's see how the Canadian wrestlers did:

Chief Morley- lost to Jerry Lawler; fired by both Bischoff and Austin
Lance Storm- lost to Booker T
Trish Stratus- lost to Jazz
Chris Jericho- didn't lose, but became an afterthought to Nash/HHH
Christian- didn't lose, but didn't wrestle; is set up for a cage match against Goldberg next week

Wow- and Canada has a history of being rabid fans. I'm not sure if you could find a better way to kill off a crowd than to make all of the wrestlers from the country look bad. You'd think at least one Canadian wrestler would end up looking good.

Next week is in Philadelphia. I'll be curious to see what the crowd reactions are there.

Okay. Two weeks ago, Nash makes his return interview, trying to reconcile Triple H and Shawn Michaels. The crowd is dead silent.

Last week, at Backlash, Nash gets tagged into the six-man match, and each time he steps in the ring, the crowd goes dead silent.

Tonight, Nash and Hunter have a huge 20-minute brawl throughout the arena. And, guess what? The crowd is DEAD-FUCKING-SILENT!

So, someone remind me: WHY THE FUCK IS THIS GUY GETTING A WORLD TITLE SHOT AT THE NEXT PAY-PER-VIEW?!?!?!?!?!?!

The dying of WWE has gone from making me sad to pissing me off. This is just total bullshit. And, unfortunatley, it isn't stopping anytime soon.

There is a simple reason why Nash is getting a title shot this month: The PPV is being held on Sunday May 18th, 2003. The Clique MSG Incident was on Sunday May 19th, 1996. Thus, what better way to relive the low buyrates of the Kevin Nash era of the mid 90's than by putting him in the main event on the anniversary of that historic moment. Of course, the irony being, he will be facing Captain Kayfabe in this match, the man who had no problem helping destroy Kayfabe during the MSG Incident.
On a side note, this PPV has the potential for achieving the lowest buyrate for a WWF/E PPV since Nash's glory days on top of the company.
