I just saw this tonight. I'm not a movie critic so I don't have the flowery words to describe it. Plus, it's 3:00 am. This movie kicked all kinds of ass. Magneto Owns us all, and Wolverine needs his own movie. Go see this. Soon. You (probably) won't be disappointed.

Absolutely great. More true to the comic characters than the first movie. The forshadowing works great and we see subtle build,(and not so subtle towards the end) of what to expect in X3. I'll admit it's a little sketchy on details for anyone who isn't very familiar with the comics or movie but other than that it's a great movie. Oh' and wolvie's attitude in this movie? If it doesn't have a good reason to live, kill it.

Saw it last night and Wow! What an achievement. My friends and I could not think of one single scene in the film that did not work. Everything clicked and worked well, culminating in film that has action, a serious point, great humour and a heart.

If any X-Men fans can help, because I am a bit rusty - Jason Stryker seemed familiar. Has he come up in the comics before?

I am no expert on the X-Men, though I do know most of the older chars and their backgrounds and I loved it..
Just quickly trying to see names on the list in the computer when Mystique searched for Eric Lensherr I saw Gambit's name and I am sure there are many others.
Dr. Hank McCoy on tv was cool too.. and seeing Collossus.
But I guess you do have to know a bit about the comic to see all the jokes.

Wolverine was brutal indeed. They did well having him go at it against the SWAT team, any other X-Men might be compassionate, he just wasted them.

Jean Grey was very nice, Storm showed alot more powers than last time, Cyclops & Rogue were less important which I don't mind..
And the ending was very nice, with the Phoenix hint..

What they also did nicely was the fact that they sorta half introduced many other mutants which could be used in later movies (like in the first one we see Pyro/Iceman but they dont do much..now they have a larger role, next one they could be center piece...the same build could be given to Jubilee, Collossus, etc)

*sigh* Why bother?

He's based on Reverend Stryker from the graphic novel, "God Loves, Man Kills." One of the better X-Men tales from the Claremont era.

To all who have already seen it. How long is it? Does it push three hours, or do they wrap it up around 2?

Thanks.

Plus, True Believers, head on down to your local comic book store this weekend because:

1. This Saturday is the second annual Free Comics Day, where publishers give away FREE comics.
2. The graphic novel "God Loves, Man Kills" has been rereleased by Marvel this week. It's good. Pick it up.
3. Chris Claremont's doing a SEQUEL to God Loves, Man Kills in the pages of X-Treme X-Men, starting this month!
4. In Calgary, it's the annual Comic Convention at the Red & White Club by McMahon Stadium this Sunday.

All-in-all, an ASS-whooping Comic Book Weekend. I work at 8 hour shift at the moviehouse tonight, then my bitchass is WATCHING X2.

Wasn't this movie supposed to be (very loosely...)based on God Loves, Man Kills? I won't get to see it till Monday, even though I had free passes to see it 2 weeks in a row and missed out on both fucking showings due to having to work on thursdays.

From what I've seen and read of it though, it far surpasses the first one.

i hope one day, the forgotten x-man (my fave) Mimic get's his due.

As a former leader of the X-men, he deserves more than that pussy "Morph" rendition of him from the cartoon.

I just saw the movie a few hours ago. Just the right mix of humor and action. Fantastic, even better than the first.

It should have been called X-men: 2 Many Mutants. It was better than the first, a bit long for my taste though. My friend and I couldn't figure out who some mutants were, like the kid who couldn't sleep and the kid with the tongue. I'd like to see Sabertooth come back, since he has the same powers as Wolverine and really has no reason to die. I also look forward to seeing the Blob played by Marlon Brando.

the kid with the tongue was Artie. Although in the comics I believe artie was a mutant that could only speak in visual images. So I dunno.

Very enjoyable flick. I think I appreciated a lot of the little touches, seeing Remy's name and Beast (albeit briefly and sans fur) on TV, the little bits with Shadowcat and Siryn, things like that. I'm kinda hesitant to call it the best comic book movie ever made (as AICN is), but I'm very pleased with the film and how much I liked it.

Just so long as they don't double-dip on the X2 DVD.

Thumbs up here.

Well you all should already who my favorite X-Man and X-Woman are.

It sucks because my friend's car blew up so i'm gonna have to wait two weeks and see X-2 and The Matrix: Reloaded at the same time. Hopefully it is worth the wait because I already waited 6 months for it and I don't know it I can stand it. And by all the reviews I read,it is.

You're confusing Mimic with Changeling.

I had the biggest grin (and a bit of a tear in my eye) everytime Jean's eyes lit up. I commented to my wife on the way out that X3 is going to have the biggest give-away "suprise"... It's not what's going to happen, but how visually stunning it's going to be when it does happen. :-)

I thought Nightcrawler was really a slam dunk, effect-wise. I wasn't crazy about the pajama bottoms he wore throughout the movie, but he just looked tremendous.

Colossus needs a good-sized role for X3. My best friend is the biggest Colossus mark I know and I'm sure he'll be pleased with him (if not the amount of time he got on-screen).

In the first movie, I loved the train scene with Magneto tearing it apart, because it was just so inline with his character. He was just incredible here. Another huge, uncontrollable grin for me when he was cutting loose.

Big, big thumbs up. Bring on Matrix: Reloaded in a couple weeks and hopefully in 2005, X3 will be owning all.

One small teeny tiny gripe. Why no accent for Colossus?

Why no accent for Pyro? I think the guy they cast as colossus was canadian and a former football player, so I doubt he had much acting experience. I hear he will be in x3.
