I was reading an article in a newspaper and i read that Ric Flair's "Whooooo's" are banned from the WWE....

Why is this and when did this happen? Please help me out on this.

Thanks.

I'm not sure that they are outright "banned". But if they asked him to cut them down to a minimum, I'm sure it was because he is a heel, and the "whooos" draw face heat.

(not that I agree with WWE on this, I'm not sure if this should really matter)

What newspaper was that, cause most news outlets wouldn't print THAT type of story as 'news worthy' unless it was say north carolina or somewhere Flair's completely over still.

Your Official Sunday, April 13, 2003 Randomly Selected Wiener Of The Day Champion says....

I think WWE does not want Flair to "whoooo" cause the fans like it and he wants Flair to be heel. Which NWA/WCW has proved he can "whooo" and still be a good heel. So the banning of his "whooos" are just WWE's thinking on how to make Flair a heel. And weve seen WWE's thinking as of late.

Mooneyham is a longtime friend of Flair's, having written about him for years (since Mike is from SC I believe) and writes/wrote for the Charleston paper.

Surely, this is YET another thing to blame on H-Cubed, isn't it?

One could probably make a case for it because whenever they let Flair cut a promo (which isn't often), he completely upstages the guy he's managing who still looks at his feet when he tries to cut a promo.

If they had a clue, Flair would be a babyface manager cutting promos every week.

Well, they let him `Woooo' all over the place last night at Backlash, and look what happened? Flair was the most over member of Team HHH.

I don't think they were ever banned. It was just something somebody made up just to add more ammo to the negativity. I remember Ric WHOOing a few times, so of course it wasn't banned.

I think it’s safe to say that if there’s ever a movie that includes an inside joke directed towards this message board, I’d have no choice but to burn down Hollywood.

Sorry, but it needs saying.

Well you know something, Mean Gene...
"To be a man, you have to beat the man" doesn't have quite the same effect without the "WHOOOOO!" attached to it. I watched a Sportscenter episode a long time ago where the sportscaster quoted Flair's catchphrase with the "WHOOOOO!" included. I nearly fell out of my chair.

Notice that it's been taking out of his entrance music. So there's at least some effort to cut back on it.

He can whoo all he likes, but the image of him getting back in the ring will kill more face/heel heat he can still draw.

When exactly did the fans start whoo-ing on cue, responding to in-ring chops?

First and most importantly it is, has , and always will be 'Wooo', not 'Whooo'. Who is who and woo is woo and never should the two be confused.

Secondly, wasnt there a thread in the dim and distant past based on a rumour about him being asked to cut back on it because Kurt was doing it now? I'm much too lazy to go find it meself and if I wasnt I sure as hell wouldnt know how to linkify it but I'm sure it did exist.

I'd love to get a hold of that soundboard if you could help. Although i wonder if any soundboard could ever beat the Judge Judy one, which gave us this great soundbite:

"listen to me sir! I will kill you, and then i will kill myself"

Nothing gets a better reaction than that!
