I don't know about all the wieners out there, but I think Velocity and Heat suck, really, really badly.

At best, you'll have one good midcard match as the "main event," and two or three suckfests or jobber-squashes. But that's not even really my issue. I'm all for mid- and lower-card stars getting all the exposure they can, and any wrestling that I can watch on my TV for free is all right with me.

The announcers are crap, too, especially on Velocity. It's insane that a business the size of WWE can't hire people with actual speaking skills for a pretaped show, when any pissant radio station in Backwoods, USA has at least one decent DJ who can actually sound engaging and change his tone of voice. But that's not really my issue here, either.

What pisses me off about these shows is that, except for the matches, the entire show is recaps of what happened earlier on the parent show. This is bullshit. If someone is watching jobbers and midcarders on Heat on TNN, chances are he's someone who watches Raw on TNN, too. If he missed Raw, he doesn't need to watch Heat to catch up because of the internet, and because they usually recap everything important the next week in "last week on Raw " segments.

It makes a little more sense (not much, though) with Velocity, because it's on a different station than Smackdown, and some people (like me) don't get UPN. However, since I don't get UPN, I'm not going to be able to watch Smackdown next week anyway, so the recaps are wasted on me. I won't be giving them ratings or watching their ads or telling my buddies about how great Smackdown is, so it's still pretty fucking pointless.

If they're just trying to attract the elusive "casual fan," they would do better with ads during OTHER programming, like the (really excellent, in my opinion) Raw ads they've got going these days, where each one spotlights a different wrestler. Play that shit during CSI and maybe someone new will tune in to Raw on Monday nights. That makes sense.

I really don't know, but I figure each show is at least half recaps of what happens on it's respective parent show, and maybe half low-card matches (where the announcers usually spend all their time ignoring the match and talking about Brock Lesnar or Triple H, anyway).

So what we essentially have is two hours of WWE programming every week that serves only to rehash the other four hours of WWE programming each week, with some filler matches added in.

What a fucking waste.

Why not make Heat and Velocity into real wrestling shows, instead of the half-assed abominations we've got now? Spotlight guys in the lower card that hardly ever show up on the big shows, give them week-to-week Velocity-and-Heat-exclusive feuds, and put a mini-title on each show so people can get a rub off of it. Maybe if someone holds the Heat title long enough, they get a Raw contract, and a new OVW guy moves up to Heat? It would be a perfect training ground to see what gets over with the TV audience. They could try out gimmicks until they find one that fits a wrestler, instead of fudging around on one of the main shows and coming off as unprofessional and sloppy.

Maybe they could use the shows as a training ground for writers as well as wrestlers, and let some new, young guys tear it up. If they fuck up, who cares? It's only Heat, it's not like it's big money. And if Heat and Velocity started getting popular with fresh ideas that Vince didn't think were "good enough" for Raw or Smackdown, maybe he would get his head out of his ass.

I'd rather just watch OVW, or any indy fed, than Heat or Velocity. It just seems to me that WWE is wasting a lot of time and money on something that they really don't get anything from. I'll turn them on at quarter of to see what the "main event" is, but I never sit down, crack a beer and get sucked in like I do with Raw, because there's no storylines, no reason to care about the matches, and I've seen most of the shit on there earlier in the week, so why would I care? Why would I want to see Triple H stare down Kevin Nash AGAIN? I already saw that crap on Monday, for crying out loud. Give me some new ferfucksake WRESTLING to watch, and I would take an hour out of my evening and watch it.

I won't, however, take an hour to see highlights from Raw and matches with no point.

Heat is pretty much useless more weeks then not. Velocity usually brings out the Cruiserweights that WWE cares oh so much about, so usually Velocity is worth a look.

They have that show, "Afterburn", which is basically half an hour of tv recaps. That added in with "week in review" commerical break recaps and the internet should really suffice enough for fans who miss out. I don't know what's the point of filling up half of Velocity and Raw with long, boring rundowns either. That they air entire segments, I mean, couldn't a 10-20 second summary do the job? Someone who is interested enough I believe would likely look to the web for the detail by detail deal.

And could someone explain to me why Eddie Guerrero is main-eventing Velocity? Seems not to long ago it was Ass-Train on there. Atleast Guerrero got Backlash, but still, it doesn't seem to make sense. I mean, maybe it would with Chavo. Eddie's established, highly talented and he deserves better.

I really don't mind watching them. Some of the matches are okay, and I just can't get enough jobbers. I know I'm in the minority, but I love the Cat on commentary on Velocity. When he said "We got Funaki, we got DeMott- this is my favorite show! This is my momma's favorite show!", I about died laughing.

Hey, I actually like Velocity. Many times, there are indy wrestlers who are more exciting to watch than the regular WWE-ized wrestlers. I enjoy the wrestler-jobber matches as well. Especially when a jobber I haven't heard of actually controls half of a match with A-Train!

Josh Matthews will be very good, I feel, but give him about another year or so. Hell, right now, I'd love to have him on RAW in place of both J.R. and Coach. He at least knows the names to wrestling moves and brings up past history to push the guys in the ring!

I like both shows but Velocity is better, even though the Cat is on it. I guess because Smackdown has better workers.

Josh is improving each week, and even made me laugh during the Jamie "By God" Noble-Sean Evans match. Of course he didn't mention seeing Evans before.

I still make it a point to catch both shows every week. It entertains me, so you won't hear a complaint. It's just plain fun getting to see some Heat and Velocity "exclusive" wrestlers in the middle of their little feuds.

Most of you guys didn't really catch my point. I don't have an issue with the wrestlers or announcers on either show. What bothers me is the time given to recaps of Raw or Smackdown. That time could be used for promos, building feuds between lower-card wrestlers or anything else that happens on a real wrestling show.

Heat and Velocity look like cheap, thrown-together affairs, because they are. There's no feuds to speak of, there's rarely ever a promo, there are no title defenses except the occasional Women's or Cruiser match. All there is to the shows is recap after recap of last week's events that will in turn be recapped on the next Raw, Smackdown or PPV, and I think that's a waste of TV time that the WWE is paying for.

Anyone else notice that Goldust has consistently (with Booker) been one of the funniest guys on RAW, yet, when he comes out he gets no love? How can we change this, weiners? HOW!?
