What is the story about Larry Z. and a similiar situation in which he married the daughter of a territory owner?

Is it petty for me to wish unhappiness on them? Simply because a guy refuses to drop a meaningless title in fake match after fake match in a fake sport? And that he jealously clings to his spot in a company that's rapidly approaching obsurity?
Then call me fucking petty.
I'll second that.
-And since when is Bret Hart a credible source of relationship advice?-
And since when is he not?
-I don't think any of us can actually say that Stephanie and HHH don't love each other. There's only two people that know the answer to that one.-
Just as there aren't any of us that can say that they do, right? Oh no, that's different, because us predictable ol'HHHaters don't have a right to say anything.
That said, I wish these two a miserable marriage. But most are anyway.

I certainly don't, and I don't know too many people who do... let them be happy and enjoy their life together. Is it really an issue for public debate, especially from a group who don't like the guy's backstage politics? So what -- I don't like his antics, either. But I don't wish him, or her, any ill will.

During the dying days of the AWA, Larry married Verne Gagne's daughter, and ended up getting 2 AWA World Title reigns. The irony of course is that Verne's son Greg, despite being pushed for over a decade with no charisma and little talent, was never able to get a World Title Reign, even in the dying days. All Greg was able to get was the AWA TV Title created for him to carry around.
There is only one man left to save Vince McMahon and the WWF/E. One man who will provide weekly Hogan/Andre Main Event ratings for RAW. Baghdad Bob is your salvation Vince. www.welovetheiraqiinformationminister.com
You know, I remember reading some of these very same sentiments when it was posted that they were engaged, so I'm not terribly surprised to see more of the same now.
It does seem sad to me though, that there are people around here actually wishing ill on their marriage. I mean, isn't there a point where the backstage crap ends and real life begins? Hate HHH if you think he's a lousy wrestler. Hate HHH if you hate his backstage politics. Hate HHH if you think he's holding people down.
But at the end of the day, if you want to wish ill on Jean Paul Levesque and Stephanie McMahon's marriage and personal life-well, it's not petty, it's pretty fucking pathetic.

In my opinion.
While I agree that people shouldn't care too much about their personal life, this marriage goes hand-in-hand with both the backstage political world and the future ownership of WWE. Already, it's probably hard to criticize anything Steph or HHH does in WWE, but once he's actually in the family, watch out. It's like a WWE employee telling Vince McMahon he has no vision. That guy can say goodbye to his promotion or even his job. It also affects what we see on TV.
I don't wish ill will on this marriage, because I know the ramifications of it. I know this is going to further the problems that are going on today, and if they do what they do, that's their business. Literally. It's their business. If it fails, it's the McMahon family's ass and it'll belong to us to ridicule.
If people enjoy/enjoyed watching WWE, want to work in WWE someday, or have stock invested in WWE, there is good reason to be concerned for how this will effect everything. Some may not want it to happen, because they feel it's going to destroy the foundation of the company.
At least there's still the indy scene!

Oh, come off your fucking high horse. You're posting on a wrestling message board. And not only that, you're flying the colors of some shitty basketball team. Don't act above us, just because we want to see Stephanie throwing HHH's clothes out on the street.

I hope Triple H and Stephanie have the WORST MARRIAGE EVER! So bad, that Hunter, in a roid rage, beats the shit out of Stephanie. And it's all caught on tape. It airs on RAW, and it grows the highest wrestling rating ever! 16.0, BABY!
I mean, seriously people. Does anyone else REALLY want to see Hunter with more power than he already has? Unless you want WrestleMania XXX to be headlined by Triple H v. Kevin Nash v. Shawn Michaels. If that's the case, then support the wedding all you want. Hell, be Hunter's best man and buy the cake.
Me? I'm personally hoping for some Ike Turner incidents.

I don't know if they really love each other or not. I would hope so, but part of me doubts it. HHH has been playing games and getting in good since he got there. I think this is the high point of the entire plan, he can't be fired ever without a hell of a lawsuit.
They remind of the rich bitch dad's girl from High School who dates the arrogant quaterback who likes to throw people around during his many study halls. If fate tells us anything about a relationship like that they'll end up in a trailer park somewhere with three kids.
A Fan- I wonder if Chyna will do a run in?
In a business as cut throat as proffesional wrestling EVERYONE has an agenda. Triple H has an agenda, Shawn Michaels has an agenda, Kurt Angle, Kevin Nash, Benoit, Hell even Bret Hart had a fucking agenda. Also for the most part they all have the same agenda. To make it to the top and stay there. Some do it by being the best in the ring, some play the game backstage, hell some even do both. Shawn Michaels problaby could have held his own at the top of the card without the help of the Klique, but he didnt. Well, at least thats what we think anyways. Yes Shawn Michaels played politics. Everyone plays politics. Bret played politics too. Don't beleive me? Give me one good reason for the return of the incredibly over and talented Jim "the Anvil" Neidhart. I also remember Bret going out of his way to make Shawn look bad during the iron man match. remember that? Where technical marvel Bret Hart's selling ability suddenly regressed to about the level of RVD. Fuck agendas and fuck all this political bullshit. We dont know what happens backstage and im sick of pretending that we do. I wish Trips and Steph the best in marriage and in life. Some of you must be pretty fucking pathetic to wish harm on peple because you dont like whats on the television. Don't you guys have your own lives to worry about?

I find following the backstage politics, which are played out on our TV sets every week, more interesting than the narratives that the creative team comes up with these days.
People don't hate HHH because he plays politics. People hate HHH because he wins at the political game and hurts the product, and potentially, its future.
Austin could have made any crazy demands he wanted, and maybe he even did, but he was a winner and he got the job done both in the ratings and as an entertaining performer.
If The Rock married Stephanie and started pulling all sorts of backstage crap, yet still managed to do positive things for the company and everyone around him, I don't think people would have a problem with it.

Right on all counts. I'm sure that Austin has made some crazy ass demands when he was on top. But he was a top draw. Asses were in seats. Now, HHH is on top and where did the asses go? Is that all HHH's fault? No, but it is his fault that he sucks.

Please, please, people - can't you see that this is a divide that will never be bridged? We don't have to let this tear the place apart. No! Instead of judging each other, can we all just not agree to accept that there are two distinct camps here: those of us who think that HHH is playing a huge part in killing interest in the company due to his seemingly constant nature of being on top of the company from 2000 to 2003 in such a way that has prevented the growth of any other draws for the company and helped drive a considerable portion of the viewership away, due in large part to by what appears to be his connections and influences backstage...and those of us who are crazy or blind or something?
Anyway, with the announcement of this blessed event, I think we can all agree on one thing: it would be cool if the wedding was just like the "November Rain" video, with HBK hanging onto the wedding ring on his pinky for safe keeping, best man Nash cutting out on the ceremony in the middle of the vows to play a solo outside and Hall accidentally stumbling into the table and knocking over the cake when it starts to rain during the reception.

Exactly what does THAT have to do with my opinion? This isn't about basketball.
Here's what I don't get. If this forum wasn't about HHH/Steph in real life, but HHH/Steph during the McMahon/Helmsley regime stuff, someone would come in here, read a lot of these posts and dismiss us as a bunch of marks.
Because our knowledge of their relationship is based on three things: 1. They were dating. 2. They're engaged. 3. They're getting married in October.
That's it. Everything else (even that third point), is purely third- or even fourth-hand information filtered down from Meltzer. And while it's fun to speculate on backstage things that we really know nothing about, I PERSONALLY think the buck stops at talking about someone's private, personal life, be it Austin, Guerrero, or HHH. But that's just me.
Of course, the irony is I'm *still* here talking about it. So I'm going to go now.
And I guess if I'm on a high horse, it's because I don't care to wallow in the shit.

Yeah, that WOULD be cool. Especially if Nash blew out his knee during the guitar solo.
You know, in the end this is just wrestling, and I think someone's marriage, which is supposed to be a blessed event, would be more important then (pretty low-quality) entertainment.
I bet CRZ could relate (since this thread needs a himhimhimhimhimhim mention).

We also know that:
4. Stephanie McMahon is in charge of the writing staff. (From Vince Russo) 5. In the last 8 months, HHH has successfully defeated 5 of the PPV challenges to his title (including his regaining of the title HBK won). No one else in WWE has that good of a record since Hogan, not even Austin in his prime.(Television) 6. The only exception was when it took a 6-way match with five challengers to beat him. (Television)
Those are three more facts. There are hundreds of other facts that I could go into, but I'll stop at those three. My point is that not all information is trickled down from Meltzer and that people have enough to speculate with and even come to the conclusion that the only possible explaination, in the face of sagging ratings, is that there is some influence carried over from the relationship with Stephanie.
WWE's production team should get to work on that video already.
Go Wolves.
