Sting beats Hogan clean at Starrcade, and WCW could've run with him as champ for an easy six months, probably more. Fucking Hogan...he couldn't even figure out that heels always lose the big main events.

My favourite memory of Sting was during the first WCW Worldwide I ever saw, back in 1990. Sting was wrestling some jobber, and they were doing a criss-cross. All of a sudden, Sting just stops running, leaves the ring and high-fives some fans at ringside. All the time, the jobber is still running back and forth between the ropes. Sting finally gets back in the ring after about a minute and clotheslines the exhausted jobber to the mat. Hilarious stuff.

Thanks for the memories, Stinger.

i remember matches where sting would pick up flair in gorilla press slams (i believe that's the right name) not once not twice but sometimes three or four times... that was just awesome.... i have to say i liked him as the crow and when he turned on the black and white nWo....

One of my favorite moments in all of wrestling was Sting as Bladerunner Sting, Warrior as Dingo Warrior, and Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert were working together in Bill Watts' legendary promotion. They act like they had the energy to spend a couple of hours both wrestling and cutting romos, and the fans there want them to perform a well.

I was never a *huge* fan of Sting's, but I can honestly say he deserved his position as top face. His ringwork took a big dip after his first knee injury (which seemed to keep coming back to haunt him from time to time) but the guy had cha-RAZZ-ma by the boatload. I actually (toward the end of my markish days oh-so-long ago) preferred him over Hogan, just because he seemed like a much more likeable guy.

When he was motivated, the guy could really deliver, promo-wise. Unfortunately, when he WASN'T... it really showed. I think the last time he really gave it a shot was the aborted heel turn, oddly. He really seemed to be getting into it. (I remember his attacks on Hogan, too.. his "pwease Mr. Hogan/widdle kid" voice cracked me up for the rest of the night.)

I really don't think a WCW crowd would have seriously booed Sting for any length of time. The only way that could have worked was when the N.W.O. first started up. The shock of losing BOTH their top guys would have had the little kids flushing their facepaint down the toilet.

After his "solo" fight against the N.W.O. when nobody else cared... well, he'd have had to stab someone's grandmother or something to turn.

I was thinking that Trevor Murdoch used this at least once on RAW. And then I remember he seemed to hurt Matt Hardy when it went awry. So, yeah. It's probably verboten.
