So Martha can't protest at the front gate of Augusta, but neither can the Reverend Jesse Jackson, the KKK, or (my personal favorite) the People Against Ridiculous Protests. This Sunday should be very interesting, although I have my doubts that we'll hear a peep of it from CBS.
Personally, I think Burke's barking up the wrong tree, as there are many unjustices to women that are of a much bigger concern than whether or not the elite, wealthy women can be a member at a private golf course. And thing is, it IS just that. A private club that holds a private event once a year. Unlike most sporting events, the Masters isn't really open to the public. And unlike US Open events, not anyone can participate in it. You've got to be invited.
Aw heck, this article says it much better than I can.
Unless I've missed it somewhere along the line, I hadn't heard much from the board about your opinions on the women at Augusta issue, and I admit, I'm a bit curious to hear your thoughts on it. Comments?

Private Club + Burk making a fool of herself ='s my support of Hootie. As always, anyone who causes The New York Times Editorial Board to go on a crusade against them has to be right.
There is only one man left to save Vince McMahon and the WWF/E. Where have you gone Greg Gagne, a nation turns its lonely eyes to you.

I'd kill to get about 10 people together and just go around the world to all these protests and start shouting RABBLE for no appearant reason.
I preferred the protestor that got it wrong, and showed up with the "Fur is Murder" sign, then proptly flipped through to find the right sign when he was told of his error... hilarious...

Then someone could start a group that would oppose your group by responding like the parents from the old Peanuts cartoons, WaWa WahWa Wa. That would be the best protest ever. I like to see how the news people would spin it.

Never know...they might have to fill some time, seeing as how they're doing the Masters commercial-free this year, to avoid morons out there associating CBS's advertisers with either stance on the issue.
Two bits says Black Rock takes a bath on this one, especially if Tiger doesn't annihilate the rest of the field.

There is no way no matter how much air time they need to fill that Hootie Johnson & Augusta will allow CBS to address the issue outside the gates. When it comes to TV coverage of this event, it is Augusta that pulls all the strings. They mandate which holes can be shown and which announcers can work the event - don't waste your time trying find out which hole Gary McCord will be on thanks to his comments of a few years ago regarding bikini-waxed greens.

People Against Ridiculous Protests? Is that a real group?
Where do I sign up? I'm already dreaming up any number of ironic signs I could take along.

I've been searching in vain for a PARP website, but it appears to be in vain. We could always start our own group, Wieners Against Ridiculous Protests. Besides, WARP would be more than appropriate, particularly given some of the threads I've read around here.
And dunkndollaz, I was referring to the coverage that every media outlet besides CBS would provide. Having been to Augusta, I'm well aware of the restrictive grip that Hootie and the Blowhards have over that club.

After 9 months of effort and (generally) favorable media coverage, all Martha is able to drag up is 40 protestors? You can find more people than that at a Little League game. I guess when push came to shove, its pretty obvious that Martha Burk's Crusade (with the whole-hearted support of the New York Times Editorial Board) was a DUD.

Can we all put an end to this mess and stop legitimizing her now? There is surely a debate on the issue that can be argued on rational levels, just not with this schmuck(as well as Jesse Jackson's crew) involved.
Price of a pack is around $8 in Rhode Island due to state taxes, so $10 wouldn't be far behind. Doesn't matter to me, as I don't use it and they've virtually banned it everywhere. But, here's the dirty little secret:
