Christopher Nowinski's new heel gimmick is...... the war protester!
Boo!
What was strange is that I just turned in to my college English class a paper saying a lot of thing he was saying. Bombing Iraq is gonna encourage more terrorism and the world sees the US as arrogant for bypassing the UN. The crowd's reaction was a little surprising, but then again, not really.
P.S. - J.R., for some reason I don't think Scott Steiner is into politics.

Wait, Nowinski is going to be dragged from the ruins of the AWA and main event Mania in less than 8 months? Impressive. As for the new gimmick, 2 months ago this would have been the type of cutting edge gimmick that Vince used to do. Now, yet again, he and his staff are behind the curve.
There is only one man left to save Vince McMahon and the WWF/E. Where have you gone Greg Gagne, a nation turns its lonely eyes to you.
I thought his speech was way too rational, after all he is supposed to be a heel. He shoulda said Bush is worse than Saddam or that the USA is particiapting in genocide. Hell, that's what some of the "real" protestors are doing.
I like the new French-Canadian/Anti-American skit, though. I just caught a bit of it and it seems to have more potential.

Is it really a good idea to encourage violence against war protesters? I mean, it's a matter of time before some ignorant toehead decides to take a bunch of them out, and you just know Mushnick would be salivating at the bit to blame the WWE for it.
And that's without even getting into the fact that you're alienating a good percentage of your fanbase, or the fact that Nowinski is *right*.
(But, like I said in another thread, when you're on the opposite side of the Ultimate Warrior and the RAW booking team, you know you're right.)
"It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for the winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns. And also he got a racecar. Is any of this getting through to you?" -----Phillip J. Fry, Futurama
For once I agree with OFB on quite a few different levels...if WWE booking can make that happen you know they must be doing something wrong.
No matter what reaction he gets, they are going to alienate a large percentage of the fan base. He drew a couple of cheers, kind of apathetic cheers, but cheers none the less. That combined with Steiner being the face?
Aagh! Who am I supposed to cheer for here?
People like to have very broad good and bad to cheer for, especially in wrestling which is an escape from the "real issues".
As was said in an earlier post, if they're going to do this as a heel shtick, they need to go way over the top with it.
He also needs someone who can form a coherent sentence to be the face...and let's face it...Steiner ain't that guy.
I thought that whole segment was ultra cheesy. Firstly, I don't want Scott Steiner being used as the personification of America. Secondly, as someone mentioned earlier in this thread, that can be insulting to many people that agree with what Nowinski said. Finally, even though I disagreed with what Nowinski said, I still cringed at Lawler calling it "anti-American".

While it's tough to argue against your logic there, you do have several nutcases on your side also.
I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.
