I just hope that [insert muscians name here] does not attempt to "cover" the song...even though the timing appears to be as right as it ever will be. Starr's vocals MADE that song, so it would be nice if "WAR" is left well enough alone.
and while I'm wishing for things, if the Torch uses "friend only to the Undertaker" as an "Obscure Wrestling Reference", well...

Agreed on the lack of need for a cover, though the timing IS debatable. I did, however, see Springsteen do an AWESOME cover of the song at his L.A. Colisseum concert back in '85. (Why yes, I WAS 11 years old...it was my first concert.) So, if anyone was going to cover it, I guess Bruce would be OK with me.
Schippewreck, I'd like to take this time out to condemn you for abusing Spiderman in your avatar. You may now resume normal grieving of a man who made quite possibly the most kickass anti war song ever. thank you.

If opposing this war didn't cause instant "controversy" among the unwashed masses, I'd be predicting an awful Smash Mouth cover any day now.
"It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for the winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns. And also he got a racecar. Is any of this getting through to you?" -----Phillip J. Fry, Futurama

If they do everyone will be for the war, the war against Smash Mouth!
Holy crap. And this was five years ago. "As the Loaf gets on his Harley and rides into the sunset..." I've seen him twice - 1996 (before the SLCRs started) and 2007 (#114). Both fun times and good shows.
