Tonight, TNA gave us MORE surprises. Of course, none of them are La Parka-level, but I'll take what I can get and I'm sorry I missed tonight if this is the kind of unpredictable stuff we're in for.

Mike Barton made his return as the newest member of Vince Russo's The Artist Formerly Known As Disco Inferno's S.E.X stable. Because when you think of Sports Entertainment, you think of BART GUNN! Oh well. He's still a better worker than Mr. Ass Man. And you know Bart isn't ambiguously gay.

And HELL YEAH! New Jack made his TNA debut as Sandman and Saturn's partner! If TNA PROMISES to play "Natural Born Killahs" in the background for every New Jack match, they have my $10 GUARANTEED! Yes, this did get a nostalgia pop out of me, why do you ask?

Too bad I missed tonight's Jarrett/D'Lo match. I guess I'm waiting for the big Jarrett/Raven blowoff before I blow my $10. But should I risk dropping $10 when Vince Russo can literally pop up at any moment?

You know it won't be long now. May God help us all!

Dude, you missed a very fun show:

-JIM MCMAHON'S FALSE TEETH MAKE AN APPEARANCE! The Erik Watts hobnobbing with Urlacher and Jimmy Mac made this Bear fan both amused and disturbed. Mac is retired but you can only suck a little more for hanging out near Erik Watts, so run Urlacher run! Seriously, this was the most hypnotically odd segment in a long long time.

-Dammit to all hell why are Trinity and Alexis Laree not involved in the Raw women's division? Laree is a better natural heel than anyone currently in WWE with the possible exception of Ivory. Fun match between them. And Alexis Laree has nudged Trinity from just a little portion of my heart...not a big one, just a bit.

-Raven's promo work and his random appearances in the ring were brilliant. Equating walking through hell with walking through Nashville was a nice touch. Vince dropped the ball on him.

-New Jack was a fun surprise, but much like False I demand the return of "Natural Born Killers" for his matches. Speaking of surprises, we now know where Billy Gunn went to. Bart Gunn ate him.

-I never thought I would say this, but if WWE had to hire a washed up retired wrestler with a big gut to do an interview segment, they should have gotten Dusty instead of Roddy. Though I admit the prospect of Dusty in a ladder match isn't too enticing.

-Ron Killings drew a LOT of face heat this evening, and I can enjoy Mabel in a 911 type role. I mean sure he sucks in the ring, but dammit he's huge and imposing, a perfect backup to have.

-I am officially intrigued by the Konnan/Jerry Lynn angle. Konnan is wonderful on the mic and I really don't know how Vince didn't snap him up when he bought WCW.

-Kash/Lynn was a solid X division match, probably the best since Kash got the belt. I guess that's what getting Lynn to work with can do for you. I really like that Kash is morphing into a heel, though he's about one week and a dye job from officially being called Essa Rios.

-I'm not sure I like the whole D-Lo angle, though the match with Jarrett was solid to watch. I'm willing to give this time to play out, but I think they might be squandering D-Lo somewhat. Not to be nefarious but it seems odd that he comes in with massive face heat, more than Jarrett, and quickly gets put into an odd tweener angle which saps a decent amount of that heat.

Overall I can say I enjoyed this show more than I enjoyed Raw on monday night, and once again as seemingly one of the only NWATNA marks left on this board I tell you that you're missing a fun wed. night if you don't buy this show.

The one problem is that TNA's surprises of the week are getting out of hand. Dusty? Cool. Nikita Koloff? Pretty cool. Raven and D'Lo? Awesome. But King Mable? Fucking New Jack? I don't know if New Jack is capable of a garbage match anymore, let alone an actual wrestling match. It just seems like the company is getting further and further away from the wrestling-based program I enjoyed in previous weeks, and turning into Crash TV on speed. One big problem seems to be that TNA's best talents (Loki, A.J. Styles, Daniels) seem to be missing from week to week, I'm guessing due to obligations in Japan. This really hurts TNA's ability to build long term feuds. And Kash is a notch better than Siaki as X-Division champ, but that's not saying much. He really screams Indy to me, which doesn't bode well for a company that wants to be seen as a legit national organization.

I'm dissapointed with the surprises this week.

Mike Barton, I just couldn't care less about. Why is he here? Is he really more worthy of taking up my time than, say, Tony Mamaluke? He just seems like such a no-name, non-factor, no-future guy that they must, nevertheless, be spending a fair chunk of change on. I'll be willing to change my opinion if he shows me something, but I'd rather see more X Div. And it seems like they must be scraping the bottom of the cast-off barrel (see also: Viscera).

New Jack is more problematic for me, since I really don't want to have any of my money going into his pocket. After the Mass Transit thing, I just never ever want to see him again.

As for the rest of the show, I thought it was alright. Too many ref bumps, though.

Generally, I agree with most of what spf says (even about Viscera!), although I'd just as soon TNA keeps ahold of Trinity and Alexis instead of WWE. I mean, it was neat watching a women's match where the announcers talked about their athletic skills rather than spending the whole time squealing.

P.S. I'm really looking forward to seeing Dusty Rhodes in a ladder match next week, too. I have no idea why.

Karlos, the only reason I make that statement re: Trinity and Laree is that I don't want to see them fighting each other every single week anymore than I want 100 weeks straight of Trish vs. Jazz or Victoria. The WWE women's division is in need of a couple more solid talents to bring some extra excitement and new feuds to it. But yes, it was very nice not to have to deal with Lawler's bleating like a 13 yr old watching scrambled porn during the match.

I take it you've never seen the Dusty vs. Tully Blanchard Ladder Match from the Great American Bash '87 tour. It was awful. Had to be one of Tully Blanchard's worse matches ever.

But, it could be interesting in the same way people are fascinated by car wrecks.

spf, I agree about Vince missing the boat with Raven. That's the 2nd time he's done that. I also think he missed the boat with Ron Killings.

I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.

I think I'm back to near non-whiny-level health so hopefully the full schedule of comix n' workarates will get mostly done this week. We'll see, won't we.
