Body count:

The store clerk is #76.
I'll wait until we actually see Ramon & The no-longer missing commando are confirmed dead to add them to the list officially. I really should rewatch the 1st season DVD over the next week to see how the body count compares.

The Cubs mug survived the bombing!

Has Chapelle shown up in any form except being named?

Are we going to hear anything more from the Megan/parents situation now that the fugitive Kim is back in the hands of law enforcement?

I half expected the final scene to be the commando turning the keys and having the car explode.

You forgot a casualty: Tony's manhood. Ha ha, oh poor Tony. 24 punched him hard enough to tear one of his ligaments. There's no shame in getting beaten down by The Man - and they probably have office pools as to who Jack is going to shoot, punch or take down with a blow gun next - but you know they all had to be laughing at Tony after that one. They should have just left him slumped in the hallway and made that his new command post. He's clearly never going to display his awesome Marine sniper or deadly Krav Maga skills. He probably made them up on his resume.

Ryan Chapelle has indeed appeared on screen before, but I can't remember if he's been on in anything other than a mention this season. He's still my hold-out pick for the real mole in the Intelligence branches. They need somebody in there as a counterpart to Stanton, and Chapelle has always been kept in the loop about what CTU was doing and where 24 wandered off too, except when Jack was pulling a swerve on them. And now he's in direct contact with Palmer.

In the first half of the episode, they gave us the Evil Music Cue when Mike Novick turned to look at the camera, like he was the Terminator or Jason Vorhees. But by the end, I think I've finally decided that he's not part of the evil plot. He actually seems to be struggling with how to best advise Palmer. The new VP (I was hoping for Terry O'Quinn to make our Young Guns quota) is evil, though, just like Alan Alda. And also like Alan Alda's evil vice president in Murder at 1600. Or like Alan Alda's president in Canadian Bacon. Lynne could be evil, too, following the "if it's someone with a van dyke or any woman, they're probably evil" rule.

Which brings us back to Bob Warner (who has a van dyke, but isn't a woman). In last week's episode, Syed Ali (RIP) mentioned that he was in Germany, not Cyprus. Earlier in the season, Reza mentioned that he and Bob Warner had been in Berlin when the evil transfers were made from Bob Warner, Inc. were made to Ali. Secret Evil Germans, man. And they're under the supervision of Palmer's backers...in conjunction with The Rand Corporation.

The whole face-off between Wallace and 24 was pretty cool. Delta Force vs. Delta Force. Now we know that 24 has an international reputation as the king of badasses. Wallace's line about "You're the last person on Earth I want tracking me, Jack!" and calling him "a born killer" was neat. As was 24 anticipating the evil neon sign trick and pulling out the line of the night: "It's for you" before handing him the phone with The Bret Hart Smirk. And he had Wallace intimidated enough that he could sit the gun down on the table and know he wouldn't try anything. That's high quality badassery. Yusef had that nifty "could you please turn away, Kate" bit, too.

The new smartest character on the show, though, is the cop leading the team outside of the store. He instantly figured out the most important rule of survival on 24: whatever Kim thinks, do the exact opposite. "Give him more time!" "GO IN NOW!" They should recruit him for CTU.

CTU has become such a dismal place now that Mason is gone. And by dismal, I mean dismal to watch. I absolutely loathe the Michelle/Paula2 storyline so far. Tony is good, but this whole "love triangle" is giving me bad feelings.

I liked most of the Jack stuff and Yusef's involvement was a nice twist. Sarah Wynter is starting to get on my nerves, though. How many times can she use the EXACT same puzzled/why me look?

I'm at the point where I want Kate to get killed off. I think she is in Loooooooove with Jack though, can't kill another of his women though? Kim for once showed some smarts getting out of the kwik-mart, but props to the cops for going in and ignoring Kims advice. If there is a "24 Dead Pool" I think that Kate or Kim won't make it to the end of the day. I'm pulling for Kim to live.

Whoever Michelle was talking to on the phone, that guy rules. He's all snappy and rude, in contrast to Michelle's utter blandness.

It's fun to wish that Jack is willing to sell out Kate, but unfortunately, he probably has something up his hero sleeve.
Kate only has one facial expresson, the "whaaaa?" look. She should get with David Palmer and learn how to properly use facial expressions for dramatic effect.

To me, the last couple of episodes have been disappointing. They're spending way too much time on Kim and Kate, and less time on Palmer.

I think Mason dying was a "Jump The Shark" moment.
