I have friends who run small indy feds and since Wrestlemania is on its way in, we began to talk about the names of ppvs and other stuff. We know WWE's biggest ppv is called Wrestlemania, and WCW's biggest ppv was called Starrcade.
My question, that we were asking each other and now iam asking you all, if you had a company and wanted to name a ppv and have it your biggest ppv of the year what would you call it?
I run a small Indy here in RI and we've been trying to tackle this as well.
So far, our big show is called "Redemption" It was previoulsy "Last Resort", but that name wasn't repeat friendly (Last Resort 2???)I know Redemption sounds like a normal one WWE would put out but a normal one to them is huge to us. Needless to say, this name can/probably should change, so I'll be very interested what everyone comes up with on here.
I've always been a fan of wrestling PPV names that are to-the-point, like WrestleMania, Summerslam, Fall Brawl, Starrcade, etc. I think that the event's name has to imply something too, to help establish the mode of it. Anyway, here are a few of my ideas:
BattleGround, No Escape, War in the Ring, Retribution.
David Crockett sez it best, folks: "Look at 'im, Tony! Look at 'im!"
The coyote goes...Crash Carnival, SuperSlam, Battle of the Mat, Romp N' Stomp, The Big Thing in the Ring.
Yeah, I know, corny, but names like Sin, Meyhem, Bad Blood, etc. are becoming so contrived these days, a new PPV with a corny name might be a breath of fresh air (like the Japanese names, like BattleArts, SuperFight, etc.)
"The coyote goes...Crash Carnival, SuperSlam, Battle of the Mat, Romp N' Stomp, The Big Thing in the Ring."
I would love to purchase "The Big Thing in the Ring". It sounds so wrong.

Well, that's the thing about Wrestling, one man's trash is another man's treasure. One thing we've all learned while being a wrestling fan is that no two people will EVER totally agree on what's "good" and what's not.
