This guy won the King of the Ring, Unified World Heavyweight Title at SummerSlam, The Royal Rumble and is main eventing WRESTLEMANIA(which he'll probably win the title at). My question is, WHAT ELSE IS THERE FOR HIM TO DO IN THE REMAINDER OF HIS CAREER?!
Win the title over and over again. How long do you think before he becomes too stale to do anything with? Is he gonna persue another career like acting? I doubt it.
He hasn't even been here a year yet... there's plenty of stuff he can do and lots of people to feud with. Then turn him heel and he's got a whole new slew of things to do and ppl to feud with. Other wrestlers like Angle, Rock, Hogan, Austin, and Taker have accomplished just about everything, and yet they're still (for the most part) interesting. Brock will be the same way.
Yo, it's me, it's me, it's (points to self) P-A-B!
Well Brock Lesnar has yet to wrestle Chris Benoit since he showed up, or at least a not in a match that was televised or on PPV. If Lesnar wins the title on sunday, I think he's got some good prospect feuds and matches lined up with people like Chris Benoit, Rhyno, and maybe John Cena. Maybe John Cena will show up during or after Lesnar's title match with Angle, but WWE seems to be building up something with those two already. I think after Lesnar has his thing with Cena, hopefully WWE will be smart enough to build up to Benoit/Lesnar or something like that over the summer. I think that'd be a great summer feud for Smackdown.

My point is that these days a rise to the top is getting shorter and shorter. I don't mean just past this year, i mean years and years down the line...
Isn't it a very likely possibility that Brock will get stale? He's done virtually everything in such a short amount of time. He didn't even win a lesser title before his first world title run.

I think they did what they had to do with Brock. They needed to make him a legit main eventer and that was basically the only real way to do so.
The thing with Brock that I think will keep him frsh is that he still has so much untapped potential. We'll probably get a taste of it during his match with Angle. Brock should have the rare capibility of being able to adapt his style at any given time. We've basically only see him as a power wreslter. In time we'll probably see him as a mat wrestler, a brawler, and possibly a submission style wrestler. There's a lot that can be done with him to keep him from getting stale, as long at the WWE utilizes him properly.
Well, if they decided to push someone else as WWE Champ for awhile, they could always give Brock the Intercon--
...oops.
(Not that I think that'd be a good idea anyway).

Shooting Star Press maybe? Please oh please oh please.... (As long as he doesn't land on Angle's neck...)
This has probably been discussed before, but has anyone ever been given as big of a push as Brock has gotten? Kurt Angle comes to mind, but he wasn't made to look as dominant, and he didn't go over in all of the big PPVs, like Brock has, excluding Survivor Series.

Although I would never wish it on anyone, injuries do inevitably pop up and return from injury angles always give on opportunity to refresh a character.

I think they built up Brock so fast because they were unsure on whether they would lock up Billy G. Brock served as a perfect Goldberg-esque character. Now that they have signed Goldberg I hope and pray that they don't drop Brock down in importance. Kind of the same way they brought Stiener on when they were puzzled on the whole Austin situation, only difference being Stiener can't wrestle. Goldberg has a creative control clause in his newly structured contract, so I would expect a winning streak to start off his WWE career and build him up tremendously. As much as I think Goldberg will eventually be some what of a cancer to the company, it was neccesary for Vince to sign him. They need ratings and need them bad.

That's the problem Monte. Even though Goldberg is a long term cancer to the company, its ok he was signed because they need ratings bad. When is WWE going to learn that bringing back every broken down former draw doesn't work. Even Goldberg. WWE is obviously pushing the panic button due to the loss of some stars due to injury and we know that never works out well if you all remember the invasion. Stars WWE was building up like Randy Orton and Batista are out for a while. Rock and Angle are going to be gone soon. Edge is out. How much longer will Austin be around before he ups and leaves again? And Hogan/McMahon is being built up to be the big match to see this sunday even though it will probably be the worst match on the card.
Here's hoping Brock and Angle get the last match on sunday.

People can talk about Brock Lesnar changing his style, facing new opponents, and winning secondary titles all they want, but they're missing out on the fact that there is a real lack of a driving force behind him and his quest to win the WWE Title. I couldn't care less about him overcoming the challenge of Kurt Angle. Angle's a much better wrestler, and a more likeable and entertaining guy. How can I possibly get behind Brock? With this news of Angle's "life-threatening" injury, doesn't that make Angle's quest to hold onto the title even more interesting than Brock's pursuit? Well, it looks like WWE's going with the less interesting story. Again.
What challenges can Brock face after beating Angle? It looks like they have a good "washed up" storyline that they could run, where Brock has to live up to his previous success that he had so long ago (3 months of him losing his 2nd title). Like a child prodigy who burned out and lost all potential because he lived up to it at such a young age, but even then, is this Brock at his peak? If so, I never want to see him achieve it again anyway.
It's no coincidence that Goldberg's name came to mind when thinking about Brock's push. Keep in mind that he was only a draw for about three months back in 1998. He was WCW's most popular star in 1998 (In 1999 and beyond, I find it arguable), but what has he accomplished since then? It looks like the only thing he has done recently is convince Vince McMahon, with help from The Rock, that his success in 1998 justifies a high spot on the card now and who knows how many millions of dollars?
After signing Goldberg, there's no more false answers. WWE is going to have to accept what it has become.

I don't really have a problem with the business decision to try out a WCW retread and have him work some magic in the WWE. Sometimes it will work, (often it won't) but remember there are a number of current upper to main event people who came out of a long run in the WCW and have done well, and are worth watching. Even so, there are not a lot of them left to sign, so let vince get it out of his system, and it wont be an issue much longer. The future of wrestling is always building, though, and sooner or later a few more of the young guys will break the glass ceiling and shove the old guard out of the way. In the end, it is the fans that decide who they want to see. I am pretty convinced Vince knows how to make money in wrestling, and while it may take a while to realize who is drawing the heat and bringing in the money, he'll figure it out. It was not so long ago we were hearing complaints about Jericho not getting his due, and now he is always involved at the top level. Sometimes we get our wish if we wait a few months down the road.
I actually don't have much of a problem with Goldberg being signed. It is the Scott Stieners' and the Big Show's I have trouble with. Goldberg may not be the highest quality wrestler in the buisness, but he is a huge draw and will always hit his spots. I think it is a good buisness move to sign him. I wouldn't be surprised if WWE ratings go up in the next few weeks as they could serve as a very good diversion to the war. Mike Tenay puts it best, "Only time will tell..."
the "glass ceiling" is the idea that you can see the top, but can't break through to it. it was used a lot when talking about minorities in this country being able to get to a certain point within the corporate or sports worlds but never being able to break through to the top.
in the wrestling world, people use it to mean that new guys generally have trouble breaking through to the top level because of the "good old boys" at the top. it used to be used to apply to wcw, where it seemed no one could reach the top who wasn't a washed-up former wwf start; now it's used to apply to the wwe because it's generally the same people at the top all the time, and new stars cannot seem to reach main event level.
