Rapper Fabolous will appear at WWE WrestleMania XIX this Sunday to accept John Cena's challenge for a rap battle. No other details are currently available.
Yeah, I know some of you are warming up your sarcastic remarks and disdainful comments. But I'm thrilled about this! I can't wait to see what happens and where this goes.
Especially if it leads to John Cena PUNKING HIM OUT! Celebrity beatings RULE!
Screw Rock and Austin! This is the REAL Wrestlemania main event! Fabolous takes the John Cena Rap Challenge!
At first, I was hoping it was a typo, and either the Fabulous One Jackie Fargo was going to appear, or better yet, the Fabulous Ones (Keirn and Lane) were going to appear and do 'Go Fabs Go.' Hopefully, this will be built around the Taker tag match, so I can get my nap in.
If it wasn't for war, you wouldn't know what peace was.
Eh....this could have been much cooler with different people. They NEEDED to get Eminem or 50 Cent for this. Ludacris would have been fun too, but Fabolous? This does not excite me.

What?! Please don't diss Fabolous. Fabolous has incredible rhyming skills. He can rhyme strings of 4, 5 even 6 syllables. And that is not easy.
"Calm all your jealousy and drama you tellin' me, so Momma, come yell at me, and we can put the top down and Cruz, like Tom and Penelope. My charm is a felony." [apologies for possible errors]
Now that is amazing, folks. Wow, way to go, WWE!
best, eocs

Originally posted by ME! in a different threadI think that a Def Jam Vendetta/WWE crossover would go over MUCH better than that Girls Gone Wild crap. Def Jam could send one of their artists over to take Cena's "rap challenge" at 'Mania to promote the game.
ANY of those cats would have better than Fabolous. And Slick Rick would have OWNED.
Now my question is, is this 'freestyle rap challenge' going to be a freestyle battle, or (as I'm going to presume) will it be a heavily scripted psuedo rap performance? I'm hoping it's the former, because I'd like to see what kind of skill Cena's really got...

Hasnt anyone learned from the WCW/Master P debacle?
i was hoping that it was Fabulaous Funaki that would take the challenge. THAT would be entertaining.
Regarding rap, if you "aks" me, all these suckas is just rippin off the original grandmasta: NIPSY RUSSELL was poppin mad rhymes back all when these punkasses were soilin their pampers.
Fabolous is to Nipsey Russell as Micheal Bolton is to Otis Redding

Dude. Fabolous is WACK SAUCE. This guy was already bragging about his rims/platinum chain/platinum watch/Escalade/throwback jerseys/whatever in his first single. HIS VERY FIRST SINGLE! If he was already living like that, why is he rapping? Please.
He's trash. All those dudes who spend all 17 tracks on their album talking about their make-believe bling-bling are wack. Especially when everybody else on the radio is already babbling on and on about THEIR make-believe bling-bling? Talk about something else in a song already, geez. [/rant]
In the meantime, John Cena is tight. Fabolous or not, I'm glad they found him something to do at WM. Should be interesting to see how that turns out.

A-freakin'-MEN.

If they wanted some main stream appeal and some decent buyrates, they really should have put down the money for a big name star, like Dr. Dre, or Eminem. I mean, I'm down with John Cena, but really...Fabolos? Flabulous? Who the heck is he? What is needed is someone who everyone knows, and would pay to see.
how many people here bought that wrestlemania (the number escapes me) because Tyson was involved? It's that kind of attention that the WWE needs right now.
He's a famous rapper. If you haven't heard of Fabolous, then you obviously don't stay informed about rap, and hence, what would it matter to you who they got? Let's not try to go into bash mode for no reason. It should be amusing if anything. Looking forward to it.

Not true. Personally, I was kind of looking forward to this, but as I also have no friggin' clue who Fabolous is, I could really give a rat's ass now. And no, I don't stay "informed" about rap, but that doesn't mean I don't like it. I listen to some rap, its just not my favorite type of music...
I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't have a clue who Fabolous is. I was beginning to get worried!
I do think it would create more interest had it been an Eminem or Dr. Dre or somebody else more mainstream. However, that would have probably costed $, that probably would not have been made up in additional PPV buys. Once you get beyond 4 or 5 guys, it probably doesn't matter what other rapper they bring in, I'm sure this guy is as good as any other.
Any word on a Cypress Hill intro for RVD? I thought WWE would have asked Vanilla Ice for some strange reason, but that might make Cena a joke to some people. I really like the idea Battlezone had of using Slick Rick, though I think most of the WWE fanbase would just sit there with stupid looks on there faces wondering where he came from.
I'm going to echo a lot of people's sentiments that WWE probably should have pitched an offer to Dr. Dre or Eminem or even 50 Cent over Fabolous. That would have gotten good mainstream attention and a duel of white rappers would have been quite a sight.
And does anyone else remember Eminem using lyrics along the lines of...
I'm interesting The best thing since wrestling
Eminem?! A WWE FAN?!
Screw Rock and Austin! This is the REAL Wrestlemania main event! Fabolous takes the John Cena Rap Challenge!
Eminem's not doing anything in public save for one event for the next year or more.
I'm sure they probably pitched it to some bigger names but probably couldn't get them to agree. It'll be interesting to see how it's done because WWE actually seems to recognize the potential Cena has.
