Do you all remember the (horrid) theme songs that WCW made for their wrestlers in the early 90's... I can recall "Steinerline" a song about two brothers named Rick and Scott... "The Man Called Sting"... and I think Johnny B Badd had one as well.
Do you all have any pleasant (painful)memories about any of the songs from that period.
I guess that the creation of those songs were to match the spifftacular theme of the Big Boss Man's Hard-time.
Anyhows... I'm sorry if this thread sucks... I was just really curious about this junk for some (very) odd reason.
Since Michael Hayes was behind most of those themes (I think) one would expect them to be better than they were. I mean, this is the same guy who gave us one of the all-time greats, "Badstreet USA"
-LS "I don't know if we can beat these bastards." "Maybe not, but we don't have to JOIN them."
Dude, I hope you're not dissing Big Boss Man's old theme, cause that theme was SICK. It ranks up there with Jive Soul Bro and the Million Dollar Man's as greatest themes with lyrics.
I actually didn't like any WCW themes outside of Kidman's, Eddie's old theme, and Goldberg's.
Reviewer of games, token redneck, and one of the few remaining Expos fans.
I'm pretty sure a lot of people give WCW theme music from Slam Jam in 1992 negative heat, but, for what it's worth, I liked quite a few themes from that time period.
Case in point? Even though Ricky Steamboat's theme from Slam Jam was more like a country ballad than anything, for some reason, it just rocked out to me. That's because there was a point in time on Denver's airwaves where WCW was completely absent. In fact, WCW was off TV here in the Mile High City for nearly a year before Worldwide got picked up again in early 1992. In addition to that, my household didn't get cable until the middle of '92. At any rate, for some reason, Steamboat's 'Family Man' (don't know if that was the song's name) ring entrance tune will, for me, always have a nostalgic goodness to it.
And, in addition to that, on an early mid-90's tip, I totally dug Stars and Stripes' music from September 1994 (Bagwell and The Patriot when they beat Pretty Wonderful-- Orndorff and Roma-- for the WCW World Tag Team Title).
And, in response to Enojado's reply, the Clash of the Champions event when Ron Simmons came out to "Don't Step To Ron" theme with Too Cold Scorpio is a fond memory of mine, inextricable from all my awesome memories of WCW when it was AWESOME.
"Chop Chop BAM! To the left right left to the kick to da' pin to the 123 And it's over with!"
(At least that's how I think it went!)
EDIT: How could I forget Rick Rude's "Simply Ravishing" from Slam Jam!?!? That song was sicker than a yak with jaundice! One of my all time favorite WCW entrance themes!

I remember during the whole Corporation angle, they teased a Bossman face turn after he failed Vince. He came out to confront them on the next RAW...to "Hard Time". I marked out like a FREAK~! I was so pissed when it was all a swerve...

Speaking of themes with lyrics, wasn't there one that Sensational Sheri Martel sang on, but it wasn't for her - was it for Savage?

There was only one good thing to come out of WCW Slam Jam, and that was the AWESOME Rick Rude theme, "Simply Ravishing". That song just kicks about 10 different kinds of ass, and I encourage each and every person who is reading this to try and find that song and download it RIGHT NOW!!!!!!
But yeah, the rest sucked.
*They call him Mr. Bang Bang!* Really, what the fuck?

In retrospect, this one is my favourite for nothing more than the surreal opening line that claims that they "don't use drugs".
I had a hard time buying into the claim even in the early 90's, before Scott started mainlining Icopro.

Not only was that a great song, but the VIDEO they had to go with it rocked!
Bad Street, Atlanta G A Baddest street in the whole USA!
HA Omega, I am actually guilty of having the Rick Rude theme on my PC, it was great, generic and 90's as it could be, but great.
I always loved the 2 Cold Scorpio music video featuring his theme song from the Slam Jam album. The corny video where he told the kids "we gonna STEP to school" was probably the greatest thing that i have ever seen.
"Bay City, Michigan that's where their from Reaching for your dream now they're a number one Steinerline, Franken-stein, top rope DDT Whatever they hit you with you'll get the 1-2-3 Chorus They'll take on all comers, no matter the size There won't be any questions when you get Steinerized (8 times) Yeah!"

There's no shame in having one of the greatest theme songs of all time. That and the old Demolition theme are what pro-wrestling theme-songs are all about.
And I'd be remiss not to mention that, yes, Badstreet USA was AWESOME. I totally marked out when I heard it played at WrestleMania x-seven.
Well they call him the NATURALLLL (naturallll) Natural as can be! Well they call him the NATURALLLL (naturallll) Yeah, that's his name!
Rick Rude's theme was pretty swank, though.
(edited by Aldo D 2112 on 23.3.03 1222) "Alright, now I'd like to show you one of my favorite cartoons. It's a sad, depressing story about a pathetic coyote who spends every waking moment of his life in the futile pursuit of a sadistic roadrunner, who mocks him and laughs at him as he is repeatedly crushed and maimed. I hope you enjoy it!"
Barry Windham's old theme was pretty lame as well. It sounded like the illegitimate son of a Hank Williams Jr. tune.
Well Mr. Burns had done it. The power plant had won it. With Rogers Clemens clucking all the while. Mike Scioscia's tragic illness made us smile. While Wade Boggs lay unconscious on the barroom tile. We're talkin'... Softball. From Maine to San Diego. Talkin'... Softball. Mattingly and Canseco. Ken Griffey's grotesquely swollen jaw. Steve Sax and his run-in with the law. We're talkin' Homer... Ozzie and the Straw.
Stings theme, when he was the black and white sting, between the nWo red and black and the colourful facepaint.
That was awesome music.
Mind you....three words:

(edited by SOK on 22.3.03 0047) Professional wrestling is the only sport where participants are just thrown right into the audience, and no one in the crowd thinks anything unusual is happening. If you're watching a golf tournament and Jack Nicklaus goes flying over your head--first of all, I would say you're watching a very competitive sport. -- Jerry Seinfeld
Remember though, the $200 ones are the first couple of rows at ringside, where you get to keep the commemorative folding chair. The next price level down will be the about-$70, which is more reasonable.
