Now all they need to to make another deal for a D-man...
That'll probably happen, too - Quinn said he's not finished yet. A terrific deal for the Leafs - we now have two of the best power forwards in the game. Losing McCauley definately hurts - he's a fantastic penalty killer and has decent offensive skills, not to mention a helluva nice guy.
Quinn was under a TON of pressure to pull this off, especially with Philadelphia in the running for Nolan as well, and total kudos to him for getting it done.

I was surprised that there was a name deal done that didn't involve my Rangers - McCauley showed some great character last spring during the Leafs playoff run
I'll be happy to send Sylvain Lefebvre up your way for a dozen lefthanded Koho's and a half-filled bag of used practice pucks

Hate to sound bitchy but why is it when every other team makes a close to deadline trade they get a decent player back for an exchange of a 5th and 7th round draft pick. But when the Leafs do it they have to give up roster players?
Didn't Nolan hurt his back this weekend, how healthy is he. I'm going to miss McCauley, he was a real character guy who always seemed to be out there going hard.
Was mentioned Three times, 3X, 3X. In the "Great Wieners" thread!
TSN is reporting that Toronto finally feels they've got enough depth to make this kind of trade. Dryden, Quinn, et al. have been restructuring the entire club over the last few years; and now it seems it might finally pay some dividends. Macauley and Boyes are two excellent prospects, but Nolan's got that something extra, something Quinn saw, I'm sure, when he coached the Olypic team last year.
Yes, wayyyyyy too early for the parade - although there almost was one when the Gilmour deal was announced. How f'n awesome is it to get Dougie back in the fold? It's gonna be a real emotional playoff run this year. I'm totally excited and insanely nervous at the same time.

I've been dealing with the whining for close to 28 years now. Nolan was a solid addition and with Gilmour back from my Habs there's never been a better time (the only thing that could make it better would be if Wendell Clark were still around).
I swear, it was almost easier to deal with back in the 80s when Toronto just sucked; at least then there was no real surprise when they didn't go anywhere in the playoffs (on the odd occasion when they made the playoffs, that is).
Quinn's a good man and the Leafs are a very strong (but getting older) team. I'm glad they've made the realization and are pushing for real this time.
The Leafs have to go through Philly on their quest for the cup, and if...and I mean IF they make it past the Flyers, will they have enough juice to get past younger teams like Ottawa or New Jersey????
How much wood can a wood chuck chuck, if a wood chuck could chuck wood?
It's gonna be a real emotional playoff run this year.
Run? It's not gonna be a run ... it's gonna be a short stroll
