I thought it was a great RAW. They dumped the pointless Booker/Rock match right off the bat, which was the best thing to do, in my opinion, as it didn't add a damn thing to the build-up for Wrestlemania. In addition, we saw the Rock put over the Hurricane, which was unbelievable to me. I figured Rocky would let him get a couple of two counts and then drop the Rock Bottom or the People's Elbow, but I forgot about the no-DQ qualification, which set up the Hurricane win. Honestly, I don't care about how it was done, it was pure class by the Rock to put Hurricane over 1-2-3. It was especially amusing to contrast with the Triple H/Maven squash match earlier.

I also liked Booker's promo. It righted the wrongs that were foisted upon him last week and made him (finally) look like a strong opponent for Triple H at Mania. I like the angle they're doing with those two. For the first time in a while I don't groan inside whenever I see Triple H pop up on my television set. They work very well together, as their personality styles make for perfect antagonists.

Austin has also begun to make RAW more entertaining. Next week should be classic kickwhamstunner action as Bischoff sends in the clowns to try to take out Austin. Stone Cold is nothing new, but that's fine with me. I always liked him the way he was.

The show wasn't perfect, with technical difficulties, an aborted Women's match that should have been fun, and the continuation of boring nothing-angles like Stacy /Test and the Dudley Boyz "suspension". If the Dudleyz are suspended, why was D-Von in an official match tonight? I just don't see people caring about D-Von and Bubba fighting to get their salaries unfrozen. I do like Chief Morley, though. This seems like an angle that could work if it seemed like the Dudleyz were in more actual danger.

Lawler and the Girls Gone Wild was another little something I could have done without, considering the show was very light on wrestling tonight. I would have rather seen another match than a wet t-shirt contest that featured no actual t-shirts, but orange bikini tops that do not turn transparent when wet, thus defeating the purpose of a wet t-shirt contest. Some of those chicks were skanky as hell, too. I, for one, will breath a sigh of relief when WWE and GGW part, never (hopefully) to meet again.

Anyway, I loved RAW, with my man Booker looking tough as hell, Rocky putting over Hurricane, Triple H being inoffensive, Stone Cold goodness and a solid match with my mark-out favorite, Kane. This RAW was nothing to bitch about to me (barring Lawler and skank hos from sanitized porn), but lord knows everyone will bitch anyway.

About Rock/Hurricane, Rock did good tonight, but Austin's music never should have come on. Austin just should have came out, got on the apron and Hurricane roll up the Rock. Hit the Hurricane music, Austin raise his hand on the way out, then the stare down with the Rock. But the WWE treated the win like it didn't even happen. Like, "Hurricane wins, but screw him what about Ausin/Rock?" I didn't really like that part.

Screw that ridiculous wet T-shirt segment. For me, the highlight of RAW tonight was Lillian Garcia. MeeeeeeOW!

“Mullet Rock”?!?

We’ve seen a lot of weird stuff from WWE in the past year, but I could have never imagined seeing Hurricane in the RAW main, let alone against The Rock. And ultimately, they even got the crowd into it. That was awesome.

I still like the way they’re building Booker/HHH. They’re just under the radar on the racial issue to where they’re REALLY pissing people off and they’ve got people talking without turning everybody off.

Jeff Hardy and Chris Jericho both had quick and clever wins.

Thanks for coming Steiner!

The Goldust bit was a hoot.

Well it looks like there was actually a POINT to last week’s Chief/Spike spot, which hopefully is leading towards a Dudley/Regal-Storm Wrestlemania bout (or maybe a six-man with Chief and Spike thrown in). Works for me.

I loved tonight's Lionsault finish in the opener. I mean, not only did it come from out of nowhere but Jericho navigated over Christian to hit it. I mean, that was just nice.

Lance Storm did the British Bulldog kicks! I love the British Bulldog kicks! Yay Lance!

Honestly folks, the HHH/Booker buildup worked out for Booker in SPADES tonight. This racist angle is a surefire way to turn the crowd against HHH and Flair. Did you hear the reaction when he whipped Flair and HHH's asses? GIGANTIC. HHH put over Booker like a pro tonight, but continued the angle by beating Maven. Realize this folks, HHH and Rock are two different kind of heels. One is a monster heel, which means that they aren't supposed to oversell for their opponents. One is the cowardly heel, they are supposed to sell like mofo's for their opponent. I don't understand how Rock's generosity in building Hurricane can someone be used as a slam against HHH not putting over Maven (WHO IS GREEN, AND STILL NEEDS TIME TO DEVELOP). For god's sake, HHH and Flair did more for Booker's crowd reaction tonight then anyone has done for Booker since he won the tag titles with Goldust in December.

Overall a fun show, though I think it lost alot of steam after the technical problems started up. HHH/Booker was good tonight, and Austin/Rock/Hurricane were all on.

My biggest complaint though was that there were a TON of audible spot calls tonight. Storm ("Powerslam"), HHH {"Keep going, keep hitting"), and a few others that I don't remember off hand. That's sloppier than usual (though Storm is guilty of it more often than he should be anyway).

It's not like Austin and Rock are headlining the biggest Pay-Per-View of the year in a few weeks that just lost its other half of the Main Event.

Nah, forget about that, let's put the focus on a midcard comedy act. Hey, Helms is entertaining but this is as worthwhile as he'll ever be. It's good enough he got some entertaining skits and a match out of the deal. A fluke pin is icing on the cake.

Rock needs a convincing victory over somebody next week like maybe Kane. I think even the most casual fan has figured out that Rock just comes back to job in the end and that seriously undermines his credibility and drawing power. Sure he IS going to job in the end but at least try to make him look a little stronger going into WrestleMania.

If that's true, I guess it's a good thing I wasn't announcing or someone like me would have cracked on my announcing skills. I seriously thought it was a Rock Bottom. Hurricane completely leaned into the move and fell on top of Rock. Plus, we've seen Rock's opponents hit him with Rock Bottoms several times over the years. If I am wrong, then I guess JR did do a good job.

Of course, he did call Test "Edge" earlier in the night. I guess with Edge's current situation and since Christian was involved in the Test clip, that's a little more understandable.

Don't feel bad. I thought it looked somewhere between a Rock Bottom and a chokeslam. Which I guess means it looked like a Book-End.

There was a 10 minute blackout that happened there was at least 2 other segments a blackout would be more then welcome... Damn WWE they waited for me to answer pro Raw in the "Better Roster" thread then they do a poor Live Show.

-Y2J/Christian vs. RVD/Kane- Great way to start off the show, I was into early. Great match, cool finish. It was quick I'd like to be able to have a little more of this match, but good enough.

-Booker/Flair interview- When Booker was in the ring by himself it kind of lost me, Flair came out and made things better. Pretty cold comments. Good thing Booker didn't agree with the comments this time.

-Jeff Hardy vs. Rico- A 90 second match, and a third of it was focused on Austin coming into the building.

-Trish vs. Jazz- Trish does the happy dance backstage, oh babe you better warm up Trish/Jazz= physicality. And it's NEXT(but first ads come on, and on and on). Finally back and here's Trish and she looks.. conflicted, wait maybe it's complex. No I think it's mostly pissed off. She walks to the corner and stands their steaming (what's up Trish, she ain't givin no love to anyone), Jazz comes out start quickly, Stratusphere already isn't' it a little early. Why they booing the move WAIT it's Victoria runs in for a no contest and they fought all of 20 seconds!. No wonder Trish looked mad coming out. Wouldn't it be smart to for Victoria to see Trish/Jazz beat the hell out of each other first. I guess there is so much more important quality WM TV time needed on this show so they cut the women feud short...

Bischoff/Austin/Rock, DeadCowWalking comes out with no ad break. Cuts a promo actually pretty similar to an interview he cut on a Canadian TV sports show just days before No way out. Taking some credit indirectly for Stone Cold to be born. Out comes Austin, for his first real interview and he was great BORING it was not. Rock comes out and also cuts a great promo on Austin. I these guys so much, Saving the show. Great interview segment.

-Triple K (thanks Thomas) vs. Maven- Garbage absolutely pathetic. I actually thought HHH was going to have some pride and try to top Rock in the "Trying to fool fans in believing someone might have a chance of winning match", but this man has no pride and self respect he's shown it for the past 2 years. I know HHH will win, I didn't even expect it to be 50/50. But I thought we were going to see Maven's match of a lifetime and coming close but HHH being to much (much like a year ago Maven/Y2J World Title, back when Raw actually had a wrestler as champion). This one wasn't even close, Maven went in as an over-matched challenger and left a B rate talent. Where' the 10 minute blackout (no pun) when you need it.

-Morley/Storm vs. D-von- I still don't understand these stips from Morley which his opponents have everything to gain and nothing to lose. Nice match, not too much tonight. Best match since the opener.

-GGW BS- I flipped, I did my own 10 minutes blackout, I flipped back and this shit is still on. People who would order it, do they really need visual explanation of what they are going to get. Let's fast forward through so much of the show to waste time in this. 2 Raw's left to WrestleMania stop wasting time. Then they wonder why undercards aren't as over as they should

-Hurricane vs. Rock- Rock is amazing, it's not even the pin fall, that's the least of it. Sure Rock was portrayed and deservedly so as the stronger and better wrestler. But Hurricane got so much stuff in and looked great in there. Very entertaining match

-other stuff- Backstage HHH is keeping down the volume in his interaction with Maven... Goldust is just backstage doing nothing, but had a funny interaction with Austin... Loving the Rock needing to sooth his soul, I'm looking forward to the song every week now. Hurricane/Rock again great backstage interaction... LoL @ Steiner, thanks for coming... Austin/Bischoff next week, quickly check if anyone has their fingers crossed. Which I guess was the case last week.

I was hyped for this show and after the first match they had me. They had the crowd. But until the main event only one half way decent match on the entire show, and a good in ring interview at the midway point. That was it. The 10 minute blackout effected the show, but even worse GGW segment was a 15 minute unnecessary commercial for the idiotic PPV. And the HHH match was such a pathetic display how much he's dropped this year, it's sad.

Austin to Bischoff "BORING, BORING, BORRRING". Acutally my feeling for everything on the show that wasn't concerning Austin, Rock or the opener

Austin might as well not have been there. IMHO, I think Austin is a major bust so far. Something is so...so "missing" from him. Like something is wrong. I mean, watching him last night on Raw, he looked REALLY, REALLY uncomfortable...

Flair: "Tonight, it's gonna be Austin, Bradshaw, taking on the NWO!

(Next Monday...)

Flair: I'm not trying to screw you Austin. Tonight, to show that I'm legit, I'll referre your match tonight when you and bradshaw take on the n..w..o!

(Next monday...)

Flair: You thought that was funny Austin? No one screws with the nature boy! tonight, it's gonna be you and bradshaw taking on X-pac and Big Show!

(Next Monday...)

Flair:That's it, you have pissed of the nature boy WHOOO for the very last time Austin!! Tonight I throwing your ass in a special tag match against the NWO. And your partner is gonna be.........Bradshaw!

Random RAW Thoughts:

Lots of WCWesque technical mistakes last night.

Was I the only one who thought that HBK was booed last night after his assault on Jericho?

Another funny Rock-Hurricane skit.

Rock-Hurricane was good, I liked the end.

I kinda knew that Trish-Jazz would be a swerve.

JR and Lawler were really annoying last night, espeically during the HHH-Maven match.

Even Stacy in a wet t-shirt couldn't that lame GGW segment.

Overall, another so-so RAW.

My point is that by actually playing Hurricane's music and getting him some camera time after the win, maybe even Austin patting him on the back before the stare down would have been a nice touch. Are you telling me Austin/Rock needs to be hyped more? Are you telling me that actually giving Hurricane props after the match and letting his music play would have dropped the WM buyrate? The fact is Rock is leaving soon and Austin is over already, just giving Hurricane a bit more of a rub would have been cool.

I call him Helms all the time. Not trying to sound "smart", it's just that "Helms" is easier to type, plus I've liked him since his WCW days, so "Helms" just stuck w/ me. I also still use "Jamie Knoble" instead of the WWE-ized "Jaime Noble"

Maven sold the hell out of everything Trips threw at him and made Trips look great. Now, since Trips has not had a watchable match in ages, who do you think carried that match? Hmmm? The young guy maybe? Push that young talent!

Maven carried a match? The match wasn't anything special, but I have a hard time believing Maven is carrying anybody in a match.

I missed the first 30 minutes of the show. (Usually nothing important happens anyway.) I don't like the bait and switch. The main event was supposed to be Rock vs. Booker T for a chance at the WM Title shot. I was looking foward to the match. Now since Booker T attacked Triple H, the Rock gets screwed out of his title shot? It doesn't seem fair to me. I'm a big fan of the Hurricane, but I wanted the other match. If only they had an IC title for the Hurricane to go after.

The women's match featured Trish and was short enough to hide the sucky wrestling. I liked it.

The announcers mostly sucked, but the King did a great job during the Maven/Triple H match. He was throwing out racial innuendos and JR was trying to get offended. When Maven got caught in the ropes he said, "He should've learned how to get thrown out of the ring on Tough Enough."

Turn Steiner heel already. Put him against Kane and give him something to do.

Having the GGW Hos without the Godfather just doesn't seem right. eh.

It also seems the hype for Rock/Austin is focusing on the Rock avenging his previous defeats. It seems like these two don't care about titles. What is Austin's motivation for this match? He already beat the Rock twice and has nothing to gain by beating him a third time. (Granted he gets the top payoff as the top draw at Mania, but I'm talking about his character here.) I'd like it if Austin demanded a title shot on the first Raw after Mania and threatened to walk if he didn't get it.

I have to be honest and say that last night's RAW was better than last week. Booker T did a heartfelt promo, and well, Flair was Flair. Even HHH was pretty good. Remember, Maven's been a real wrestler for almost a couple years, and well, he's no Kurt Angle but it was eventual he took on the big dogs. Not upset with the finish at all, I was just satisfied with what I got with him and Booker T. The Rock continues to be funny. By the way, I HATE TNN. This is about the third time that TNN had "technical difficulties". If it wasn't for Mick Foley's VO's, I'd dump the damn channel. I felt so sorry for Trish. Her match with Jazz would've been the BOMB. GGW? I didn't pay attention to that. Hurricane-Rock was fun, and I did expect an Austin run-in. All in all, other than the 15 minute or so marathon of annoying commercials, RAW was pretty good. I'd settle for longer matches, though. But RAW's road to Wrestlemania is much smoother than Smackdown's from the look of it.
