From the desk of Swordsman Yen I'd be all for not giving Bin Laden the death penalty, but instead have him serve a life sentence in federal prison. No solitary confinement, no special privileges. The fucker wouldn't last long in the general prison population, and he'd be begging for the death penalty compared to what they do to him.

Personally I would say the best thing though would be either dropping him from the Washington Monument or impaling him and his kids each on a spike in the Statue of Liberty's crown. Then bury the bodies in the foundation of the rebuilt WTC.
All that makes you no better than Bin Ladin himself. You both justify in your own way the cold-blooded killing of another person. Naturally, your response to this will be "but my reason's better!" , to which I respond "duh, of course you're going to think that."
Even if it were someone as sick as him, I could never live with myself knowing I brought death intentionally on to another person.
What an utterly vacuous thing to say. No better than bin Laden, yes. The Nazis killed people. So did the Allies. Clearly, they are morally equivalent. Kidnappers put people in handcuffs; so do policemen. Clearly they, too, are morally equivalent.
Absurd, man. Absurd. Look up the concept of "merit" in your Funk and Wagnalls. Most of here (myself included) will contend that bin Laden DESERVES to die.
Actually, the Allies didn't go out of their way to kill people like the Nazis. The Allies didn't kill out of vengence or spite, they used mass killing as a last resort, and in America's case they wanted nothing to do with anything until they were dragged into it unwillingly. The nation didn't allow itself to be overcome with bitterness and anger.
Cops are the same way. Their goal is NEVER to kill someone, but they will if they have no alternative.
How about making him work in immigration. Then he's have to hear all these people who want to come into our country talk about how GREAT america is and how much better it is that ANYWHERE else... then throw him in general populatin at night. Raped physically at night and mentally during the day.

From my experiences dealing with INS, Osama is far too friendly, polite, and well organized to ever work for that department. He would need to be far nastier and less motivated to EVER work in order to fit in there.

February 13 and 14, 1945. Allied forces bombed Dresden, Germany, which at the time, housed more refugees fleeing the war then it did military personel. over 100,000 people were killed in these bombings. What was the reason for this you ask? This 'military' atrocity by us was in no way a military conquest; it was so we could show off to the soviets.
Then, you had our so called 'Internment Camps' which were supposedly NOT LIKE concentration camps, but this site here (http://www.oz.net/~cyu/internment/shootings.html) has quite a few stories that make you wonder about that.
Again, I can't stress the point any more then I alreay have NO ONE IS INNOCENT.

Yes...yes it does. It's called "an eye for an eye".

Last time I checked we did NOT kill 6 million people.

I'm sure a lot of the people who participated in those attacks would have used a similar argument. After all, to them, the US is evil.
A minute ago, Bucs, you showed that you understood why cops and criminals are different. But now you seem to be saying that the US is no better or worse than anyone else. I'm sorry, but it just ain't so. Our hands may not be clean, but we've done more for this world than any other country out there. If you want to be that nihilist, Bucs, why fight terror at all? After all, they're only terrorist because that's what we call them. Who gives us the right to go after Osama bin Laden?
Aye.

I'm just yet to hear of a reason for the US to go to war that couldn't also be a reason for someone else to go to war with us. Like I said before, it's natural for America to think that their reason for wanting to fight is right and their opponent of the month's reason is wrong, but ultimately they boil down to the same thing.
As for the cops/criminals analogy, I've seen nothing to convince me that killing is a last resort to GWB.
EDIT: Surprisingly, even to me, Bush might actually get a little backing from me if he said he wanted Sudaam gone because of oil prices. Probably not enough support to go in killing everything that moves, but at least then the motivation wouldn't be so fluid and self-centered.
