IN the 3rd Quarter Conference call today the WWE announced they were working on a cartoon. Here is how how they describe it (lifted from 411):
- WWE's animated TV show will be a mix of traditional anime as well as Korean animation to provide very delated facial expressions. The cartoon will feature WWE characters, as well as new characters. WWE is very excited about it.-
Well it should be interesting seeing Steve Austin with big anime eyes battling Pikachu in a Singapore cane match.

Hahahahaha, I can see it now, an anime Jeff Hardy on top of a ladder while psychadelic colors flash behind him, he powers up energy with his "suicide guns" pose and shouts in classic bad dub style "SENNNNNNNNNTON BOMBA~!" and as he flips off in slow motion atomic bomb blasts go off around him. Imagine a Triple H match in anime. I'm sure there will be a DragonballZ crossover where he beats Vegeta and Goku :-).
RIP Curt Hennig: Yeah, they call me a redneck, but you know---that's a beautiful thing!
You don't get it boy, this isn't a mudhole... it's an operating table. And I'm the surgeon. Something tells me to stop with the leg. I don't listen to it. But where in the world is there in the world A man so extroardinaire?
I think this could possibly be cool but cause problems bc they would be indeed marketing their product to children through the use of animation which is predominantly a juvenile form of entertainment
If someone gets urinated upon do they get pissed off or pissed on?

I disagree. Shows like The Simpsons, Samuri Jack, Futurama, Home Movies, The Oblongs and King of the Hill do not cater at all the the young. They are aimed at the same demagraphics as the WWE.
Regardless, I think a cartoon WWE show would be just plain awful. I just wonder if they do a cartoon if HHH will have the same power as the real WWE.
So I jump ship in Hong Kong and make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas. A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one---big hitter, the Lama---long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-galunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consiousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.
This has "sucks the big one" written all over it. Why are they downgrading to the one form of entertainment considered more juvenile then they're current product?

Maybe-- just maybe-- the WWE should concentrate on wrestling until the ratings rebound... and not on cartoons, restaurants, football leagues, casinos, or music labels.
We don't want cartoons. Hell, most of the wrestlers' gimmicks ARE cartoons.

ANIME is not JUVENILE. AMERICANIZED ANIME is.

I think so, but there is definitely a cartoon called "Mucha Lucha" about a Mexican wrestling school (I may be wrong about the school part... but it's five minutes 'til I leave work and I don't plan on researching it).

Amen to THAT Ringmistress!
A shark on whiskey is mighty risky, a shark on beer is a beer engineer.
Haha, Heyman writing this stuff. The poor guy. Actually, it'd be a pretty compelling cartoon if Heyman does do it. Hopefully, its not aimed at the same age group as Rock n Wrestling...
oh yeah, you gotta know that this will be the one WWE show where THE HURRICANE will be the most dominating champion of all time HAHAHAHAHA.
"Triple H goes for the Pedigree... NO WAIT! the Hurricane summons a tornado which sucks up the dreaded HHH causing him massive wind-related damage!! 1..2..3!!! Hurricane!! Hurricane has pinned HHH and is the new WWE Champion!!!!!!
ah....thats better.
...But remember this. ROCK...CRUSHES...SCISSORS...but scissors cuts paper...and paper wraps rock...KIFF, we have a conundrum. (Yes, eat all of our shirts!)

Well...I agree with that. I guess they are assuming that by 2004 they will have the wrestling end of the product fixed. The question I have is which network will pick this up? I assume that it has to be a Viacom network. Will CBS or MTV actually put this on?
January 4th 1999 - The day WCW injected itself with 10 gallons of Liquid Anthrax...AKA...The day Hogan "Defeated" Nash to win the WCW title in front of 40,000.
I'm guessing it would probably air on TNN. They've been talking about cartoons on TNN for quite a while, including a new version of Ren and Stimpy. It probably won't air on The Cartoon Network, since that's not a property of Viacom.
