Okay Wienerboard researchers, I need some help. Can anyone find the exact date that the made-for-TV movie *The Day After* aired? I know it was in 1983, but can anyone nail it down to the month it aired?
For those that don't remember, this was one of the first really graphic depictions of what nuclear war would be like from a civilian standpoint. I want to mention it in a lecture to describe 1980s Cold War anxiety, but being the anal dude that I am (brother), I would like to have a little more specifics on the air date. I recall that it made many Americans nervous at the time, and that they had to air interview specials after the broadcast to help calm people down and tell them that it would never happen. It sure did scare the hell out of me, and made me deathly afraid of nuclear war for years.
Thank you for any help!

"Darwinists sometimes find confirming evidence, just as Marxists found capitalists exploiting workers and Freudians analyzed patients who said that they wanted to murder their fathers and marry their mothers. They find further instances of microevolution, or additional examples of natural relationships, or a fossil group that might have contained an ancestor of modern mammals. What they never find is evidence that contradicts the common ancestry thesis, because to Darwinists such evidence cannot exist. The 'fact of evolution' is true by definition, and so negative information is uninteresting, and generally unpublishable."
I don't see that info on the info screen for the movie. Where abouts is it?
Thank you,
DMC

Let me also recommend another nuclear age anxiety movie. Special Bulletin. It's about terrorism and nuclear anxiety. It's also a 1983 movie. One of the very few TV movies I ever kept after taping. Gosh, I gotta get it out and watch it...
Oh, yeah, I remember Special Bulletin...the whole thing was done as a newscast. Very exciting and well-done. Some of those images still come to mind 20 years later.
Testament was pretty good. I had to watch it in my freshman year of high school.
Another movie that came out around that time was Threads, a story of a nuclear strike on England. It wasn't as good as the other movies already listed.

Special Bulletin was an incredible film. I have a copy and it never loses it's edge. The cast was excellent and the "unconventional" ending is pretty shocking.
