Oh, yeah, and; "Are you kidding the Rock? Are you kidding the rock? Have you never heard somebody say the name of your city before? 'Yaaaay! Hoooorayy! Toronto! He said the name of our town! That's where we live! TORONTO! Yaaaaaaaaay! Canada.'"
True, the Rock was fun to watch. Hurricane was fun to watch. The rumble match was entertaining.
Sorry though, some parts of RAW were just badly done. The largest case in point was how they handled the Test/Stacy match. I realize we suspend our disbelief for the WWE but can you really expect me to buy that when two grown men go at each other half a dozen referees get in there to break them up, but not one comes out when Chris Jericho has Stacy in the walls of Jericho for a few whole minutes?
Secondly, I am growing tired of HBK. I didn't watch wrestling until 1998, so I never marked out for HBK and I don't have this feeling of nostalgia for him. Please don't tell me that to build a Test/Jericho feud they have Jericho pretty much beatdown Test and Jeff Hardy, and then immediately run away when HBK arrives to save the day. Great, HBK is able to go over both Test and Jeff Hardy, not to mention Jericho, just by running in for 10 seconds and unleashing one kick. Come on, HBK is not the face of the future.

Well HBK does have the power of God behind him. So there's a lesson to be learned somewhere in all this.

Well, I did have the pleasure of watching Shawn Michaels go from being a "tag team specialist" to being the cocky "Heartbreak Kid" and the "showstopper". I was a big Shawn Michaels fan when the back injury cut his career short but, I agree with you. Jericho HAS TO win that match at WrestleMania or the whole HBK-Jericho feud is just counter productive in the long run.
I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.

It had to be a hell of a RAW to not even be pissed off at that statement, but guess what?
* * * * * * I'm not! I'm glad HHH wasn't there too, I had plenty of eye candy to keep it nice and warm for me (RANDY~!). Kickass RAW show, and if they actually keep this up, I might take back a couple of bad things I said about the WWE, If you SMELLLLLLLOOOOWW what I'm cookin'... Can't help it, The Rock ruled! I had no idea he could play the guitar, he really IS multitalented! Finally, HHH. Booker T. Wrestlemania XIX. HALLELUJAH! And of course, the smartest crowds in the wrestling world are in Canada (us a close second). Raw gets a 9 from yours truly.

I think they should just have Rock on every show, now. For every hour of WWE programming, there should be at least ten minutes of original Rock content. Ratings would go up at least a point for everything.
As a huuuge Hurricane fan, I thought that was the greatest promo ever. I instantly hopped online and someone I knew had already captured it.
They punished Test by not giving him a No Way Out match...it wouldn't make sense to delay it so he can have an even bigger match. I have no doubt it will be HBK-Jericho at Wrestlemania.
The Rock did indeed rule tonight. But having him just appear on Raw with a lame story how he's switched shows just drives another nail in the whole brand split. The WWE had been really good the last little while about not tossing wrestlers from show to show, but they undermined the whole thing tonight. I want to suspend my disbelief when it comes to the Raw/Smackdown rivalry, but the WWE makes it impossible to do so. How often did top guys jump from Raw to Nitro and vice versa in the '90s? Seeing the Rock on Raw just drives home the point that there is no real reason the paying customers in Toronto couldn't have seen Hulk, Team Angle, or Brock tonight.
The Hurricane did indeed rule tonight. But seeing him verbally punk out the Rock in the back and pop the crowd during the main event just drove home how much they have dropped the ball on this guy the last year. Now they decide to give him some mic time and exposure??? Christ, it just makes me more angry than happy.
Booker T winning the main event did indeed rule tonight. But notice how he won -- a reversed irish whip. He won a title shot at Wrestlemania by reversing an irish whip. The weakest possible way of winning a match I can think of. He won a title shot at Wrestlemania by reversing an irish whip ... I just can't get over that.
Stone Cold not appearing tonight did indeed suck tonight. How many former viewers tuned in tonight to see him, and now feel burned at having spent two hours with only a "watch next week" to show for it? How many replays of the PPV did that move sell?
I'm sorry about sounding so smarky, but this show left me feeling very negative.

Sweet mother of all things holy, thank you so much for posting that link El Pescado. I was on the phone during their talk and read everyone raving about it so I just had to see it for myself and it was HI---LARIOUS! Many thanks again, one day the people will tell stories of you, all good I swear.
Jericho will more than likely be Booker's first real adversary, then a heel Steiner or Kane and HHH and then someone new like Lance or a traded Benoit. Either it will be far more entertaining than HHH with the belt.

The only reason it didn't bother me at all is because Vince was involved. Vince is the only one who can superceed both Stephanie and Bischoff and move superstars to whatever shows he pleases. In this case he did, because Rock wanted to verbally punk out Austin on RAW and get in on the battle royal. Works for me.
If Stephanie doesn't have a hissy fit on Smackdown though, I'll be disapointed.

Unless the Rock appears on SD! once or twice. He said Vince gave him the authority to do whatever he wanted, so he should at least brag about that at some point, to further his I`m-from-Hollywood attitude.

They've recently ignored the rules of the split with Johnny the Bull and Rodney Mack, so to only notice it with a big name is selective.

It's a battle royale, it's always about sneaky finishes. Booker caught the Rock off gaurd, and Rocky sold it with his shock afterwards.

I don't think it was about replays but more about the fact that the show was loaded with the newly heel Rock material. And it was golden. It didn't need Austin tonight at all. Plus they said right at the start that Austin wasn't going to be there, so anyone who tuned in only for Austin could skip the following 2 hours. Of course that's why they brought out Rocky right after and let him rule the show.

Johnny the Who? Rodney Wha? Having two B-show talents switch sides isn't a big deal ... it wouldn't even occur to most fans watching the show that a switch has been made. It's like when Sandman jumped from ECDub to WCW as Hardcore Hak -- it didn't really set the wrestling world on fire, you know?
But when a huge name like the Rock jumps ship, it should really mean something, and I would like a better story than "Vince let me change shows, so here I am". I think it's a good idea for Rock to be on Raw. But build a story around the jump making it seem like a big deal, build some anticipation about it, rather than just throwing it out there. When Hall and Nash jumped to Nitro it seemed like a big deal. When Bret got screwed it seemed like a big deal. When Jericho jumped to Raw it seemed like a big deal. When Rock jumped to Raw, proclaiming that "Vince let me switch shows," it seems like a letdown.

This wasn't just any battle royale. It was for a freaking title shot at freaking Wrestlemania. How many Royal Rumble main events are determined by a reversed irish whip? That's a tease finish, not an actual one.
Can you see HHH or Stone Cold or Brock winning a battle royale like that?

This has been said better by posters at tOA (regarding the buildup to No Way Out), but it bears repeating. It completely goes against the character of Stone Cold Steve Austin to no-show because he has been "barred from the building". When Vince would bar Stone Cold from the building back in '98, Austin didn't just sit in his hotel room ... he stormed that sonofabitch by force and hit the ring with fists flying. He rebelled against authority and the fans loved him for it.
When Bischoff said that Austin wouldn't be there tonight and that he had been barred from the building, I didn't say to myself "dang, they are holding him off till next week." I rubbed my hands together and said "oh boy, Austin is gonna raise some hell by the end of the night." It's the oldest script in the book with the Stone Cold character, and they didn't follow that script tonight. Why not? To pop a rating next week? But that assumes the anticipated return of Austin would pop a rating this week, and that all those people tuning in to see Austin are going to be forgiving enough to give another two hours of their time next week.
I think many, if not most, of those viewers will just be pissed off and not tune in again, despite being entertained by the Rock. We shall see.

Logic says if Booker wins and Jericho wins at Wrestlemania you have a fresh face champ and a fresh heel champ just ready to feud. Booker vs Jericho in the ring and on the mic would rock! Thank God for the Rock though!
