Steiner's future in WWE looks bleak. Unless they're going to use him as fodder for Batista and Orton, I don't see what more they can do with HHH & Steiner that benefits anybody.
I would not be surprised in the least if Steiner is gone within a couple days. Watch tomorrow's RAW and we'll see if there are any blatant signs that Steiner's on his way out.
It would not surprise me in the least if he was gone... eh, about 2 hours ago when the PPV ended. He's been jobbed out twice now to Helmsley and for what... absolutely NOTHING came of his being on our tv sets the past few months. As I remember saying when he was brought in, he's a complete waste of time and money.

I think that with Stiener's past track performance they got to drop him now. Jobbing him to HHH is one thing, but if he starts getting jobbed out to midcarders then watch out. The guy is liable to blow a fuse on national tv. I know I would love to see Stiener go wacko on a live Raw, but the WWE brass will never let it happen.
I don't know. I think they'd be stupid not to try the 'monster heel' thing like he was doing in WCW. The guy looks down-right scary, and has the demeanor to make the turn believable.
Being an unstoppable heel would also help hide his weaknesses, as he would be allowed to use his (as Gorilla Monsoon used to nicely put it) methodical pace without killing the matches heat, as the face generally has to keep the pace quick during the "hot comeback".

I think he has been pretty useless but why after tonight do you think he'll be let go? I am not an expert so what did I miss in other words what did he do that was soo terrible. I also had to let my dogs out so I missed some of that match. I know HHH won the match.
I don't know. I think a lot of the boos at Rumble and No Way Out were shared boos. I didn't see Triple H do anything in those matches to distinguish himself as anything other than less of a gasbag than Steiner. When the best thing you can say about your match is that you looked less ineffective, winded and undynamic than your opponent, you are hardly a precious commodity.
Don't get me wrong: I don't want to see Triple H fired. (Jobbed, maybe, but not fired.) I think that, if creative accomodations can be made for Big Show, Albert, Triple H, or any other wrestler on shaky personality or workrate ground, accomodations can be made for Scott Steiner as well.
I know he's not glorious in the ring, but the fact that he has steadily improved since day one should be indicative of his potential worth.

Oh, I do soooo disagree. The boos were all for Steiner, & the cheers for HHH, just for trying to drag something out of Steiner. (Brilliantly perceptive crowd in Montreal. They actually made the match kind of amusing for me.) Steiner didn't seem quite as bad tonight as he was at Royal Rumble; however, I don't think that was because he actually was any significant amount better. The bookers clearly gave up on trying to make him look unbeatable, so poor HHH didn't have to try so desperately hard to make Steiner look decent.

Jeb, we could put you in there, & (assuming you weren't completely reduced to a tweed covered grease spot) you would "steadily improve". As bad as he was at Royal Rumble, Steiner couldn't much help but improve. That doesn't mean that you should trade in your keyboard for a singlet, nor does it mean that Scott Steiner should be getting big $$$, high profile matches, & time on my PPV.
I don't know what they will (or can) do with Steiner. There's no telling what all he might have gotten into his contract. But I desperately hope they can figure out some way to get him off my TV.
in all honesty i never saw Steiners WCW work and upon his entry into the WWE i have only come up with one conclusion.
Steiner isn't that bad. he seems to get absolutely torn up on this board for no reason, or at least not given the same "generosity's" that others have been given.
when he first came in all i heard was these people attacking his mic skills because he apparently couldn't put together a coherent sentence but after his first few tirades he seemed able enough on the mic and even a little intense.
His skit work with HHH leading up to the Rumble (the arm wrestle especially) was very enjoyable (which in all fairness most people agreed with) and he seemed a likely threat to HHHas a challenger.
(At this point i worked away from my house and missed WWE from Rumble to Feb 3rd so i might have missed something horrible he did but let's continue.)
I rejoined the real world to a main event pitting Jericho against Steiner and i had enormous praise for this match. Quick paced, high impact match with an excellent finish, steiner samoan dropping Jericho from the top rope with one-arm was an incredible sight and provided a logical finish. Since then Steiner has done a few good things with his limited time on camera and i must say he won me over as a huge meat-axe face.
Australia didn't carry NWO so i missed this match but from what i can gather it didn't suck as much as everyone thought it would so i can't see any reason for all the Steiner negativity and much less any indicator that the WWE is done with Steiner.
Besides, i still wanna see this insane monster heel that steiner is suppossed to rule as.
...But remember this. ROCK...CRUSHES...SCISSORS...but scissors cuts paper...and paper wraps rock...KIFF, we have a conundrum. (Yes, eat all of our shirts!)
The match wasn't THAT bad last night... in fact, at one point, the man executed a textbook suplex, and the crowd still booed, so it's not like he was blowing EVERY move.
Granted, he has no energy, his foot's a mess, and the man is too roided up to be effective, not to mention his promos are rambled and often incoherent.
On the bright side, he was a proven monster heel in WCW, and his tenure in WWE can certainly be used to put other guys over. I just don't think the crowd is going to give him that chance.

Given what you've seen, I understand how you reach your conclusion. But IMO you've missed out on the main reasons that I'm less than thrilled about Steiner.
I didn't have any significant WCW background with him either. So when he showed up, I was pretty neutral about him. The non-wrestling build to Rumble was OK with me (especially since HHH was recovering from an injury), & some of it was indeed pretty fun. But then we had his first actual match at Royal Rumble. For the hype, the buildup, the prestige, & for all of HHH's best efforts to make that match into anything useful, Steiner was awful. Awful, awful, awful. Not just "off night" bad, but across the board awful. Now we have a problem.
IIRC, the next actual match he had was the Jericho match you mention. As I remember that match, Chris was doing basically all the work, it got done with much faster than the Rumble match, & didn't have anywhere near the expectations associated with it. He wasn't as awful in that match as he was in Rumble, but I sure didn't think he was "good".
His next actual match was last night at No Way Out, which you also didn't get to see. As I said above, he didn't come across as being quite as awful in this match as he did at Rumble, but again he was far from "good". I still believe that was more due to "lowered expectations" for the match than anything else.
So in 2-3 (?) months, he's had 3 actual matches. He was completely hideous in the first, & "eh" at best in the other 2. If we were talking about a mid-carder in a feud with Rico, we'd be saying "workrate's not that great, he's got a gimmick, whatever". However, for being shot directly to the top of the Raw roster for a multi-PPV run with HHH, he's no where near giving us the performance that we expect from the position that he's in.
Maybe he belongs in the Evolution? I mean, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
First of all, there was no reason to push Steiner as a face. The man is a heel, bottom line. No one wants to cheer this guy and all he's done is give fans another reason to cheer HHH (who is supposed to be a heel, right?)
I know Raw was low on credible, face, World Title contenders, but that's not the case now.
With Booker T is being built up (I think), and Austin back, there is room for another heel. Steiner has shown that he can't beat HHH, so he has to step aside. I don't think he needs to team up with any other face (how weird was it watching him team with Booker?), so if he stays he needs a new direction (no more title shots).
People say Booker isn't ready to face HHH because he hasn't been built up. Well, if he goes through Batista and Steiner (in good programs) will he be ready?
HHH can face Austin or Goldberg at WM. Whatever. But if Booker works his way methodically through the Evolution, won't he be a contender by KotR?
I guess the other option is to move Steiner in against Austin to give Steve some time to work off the rust and to keep Steiner in brawling matches where his bulk will hide his deficiencies and keep him credible.

I tend to not get PPVs, so I've missed the boos that seem to have accompanied both of his matches, but it seems to me that he has continued to get a good pop out of the Raw crowds. I'd love to hear the opinion of someone who's been there to hear the live crowd reaction.
I think emma had the best point- 3 matches in 2 months? I think it's actually 4, counting his tag with Booker last Monday, but regardless, in this day and age, that's ridiculous.
But maybe the Sham's right- tonight we're supposed to see Booker/Steiner vs. Orton/Bautista. If Steiner were to turn on the Book (and to anyone who did see them in WCW, watching them as team is bizarre) and join the bad guys, that may serve a few purposes- giving Steiner a chance to save his WWE run with the monster heel character (and some great angry rants), speeding up Booker's push toward #1 face on Raw, and creating a fourth non-horseman. Steiner could be used primarily in tag matches and beatdowns, where his lack of skill or endurance would be hidden more.
OR, give him the Gobbledygooker costume and see what he can do as a big turkey.
