"No no, this is serious now, kill the beat - kill the beat! People think I'm crazy, that's what everybody's tellin me cause me beating you is like you winning a spellin bee! That's ok, tonight I silence em all - you're a neanderthal so I'll use words that small. I'm Brock Lesnar! Here Comes The Pain! God built me strong - FORGOT TO GIVE ME BRAIN! You hop around all day like there's potatoes in your crack - that's a nice tattoo of YOUR MOTHER on your back! Yo I'm untouchable, you can peep my ability, I'm like a basic math problem - you just can't finish me!"

Hey, he is a five time (five time...) freestyle champ of West Newbury Massachusetts. That can't be easy.

Even though the Happy Dance rules, the best part of Cena's rap was "You hop around all day like there's potatoes in your crack."

John Cena is AWESOME! He may have lost, but don't cry for him, because he'll be back.

I think this proves another rule of Wrestlecrap. While a gimmick may look like Wrestlecrap on the surface, the person playing the role can make it work.

For past precedent, see:
Undertaker, wrestling mortician
Goldust, wrestling movie addict
Mankind, wrestling recluse
John Cena, wrestling Vanilla Ice imitator

I hope the Main Event against Brock is a sign that they're moving Cena more into the mix with the established guys. His heel act is one of the freshest things they've got.

I think Vince is having a big problem lately with trying new things, hence the returns of Mr. MacMahon, Austin, Rock, rehashes of the same fueds they left with, and the continued push of sloths like Rikishi and Albert. Lately, I'm leaning away from "Triple H is holding everyone down" and towards "Vince is unwilling to change."

I think as long as Heyman is booking you'll keep seeing experiments like this on Smackdown, but until Vince has a psychotic episode I don't see it going anywhere.

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong...

Venom:

I hope you are; Cena's last two Thugenomics have been verbal beatdowns of Brock -- there's *no* way Lesnar could have done that promo. Cena reminds me of Rock in the charisma department... I hope I'm not the only one there. He's funny enough that you want to root for him.

Also, IIRC, I think Tazz and Cole have dropped the "rookie" gimmick from him. They can slap that on Kendrick, now.

Cena's still got a ways to go in the ring to really get a major push but he's shown with Angle and Jericho months ago that he's perfectly carryable.

I wonder who Cena works with to come up with his stuff. After seeing his Confidential piece months ago, it's got to be a lot of Cena himself which speaks volumes for his creativity.

It sure as hell beats John "The Rookie with Ruthless Agression" Cena.

From the desk of Swordsman Yen
Anybody know what Cena's Killswitch finisher is supposed to be? I'm sure I've seen it, but I've never heard it specifically called The Killswitch.

What exactly is the "Killswitch?"

Well Mr. Burns had done it.
The power plant had won it.
With Rogers Clemens clucking all the while.
Mike Scioscia's tragic illness made us smile.
While Wade Boggs lay unconscious on
the barroom tile.
We're talkin'...
Softball.
From Maine to San Diego.
Talkin'...

Mattingly and Canseco.
Ken Griffey's grotesquely swollen jaw.
Steve Sax and his run-in with the law.
We're talkin' Homer...

I think...repeat, think...it's the finisher he used in UPW called the "Protobomb"...a military press into a Michinoku Driver...

I haven't seen him use it on Smackdown yet...

Cena's probably my new Favorite wrestler after that match with Brock. I really hope they let him use this gimmick for a while, and quit giving him sidekicks, he doesn't need them.

"What exactly is the "Killswitch?""

I'm pretty sure it's his belly to back suplex-into a sit out rock bottom. Back when he was just regular ol' John Cena that tended to be what he used.

I'll bet you three bucks the WWE doesn't know what it is, either. They just needed a name to plug into the Tale of the Tape.

It had to be a name without "bomb" or "plex" in it so that, when Cena settles on a finisher, no matter what it is, bam, it's the Killswitch.

(The best thing about my theory is that it can't be disproven!)

There are lots of wrestlers who people on this board adore
From Benoit to Angle, but I guarantee Cena will never bore
This kid is golden on the mic like a young Adrock
Just look at how he verbally tore up Brock
He doesn't need to get over with Buchanan
He'll use whatever the bookers throw at im'
We all know his style is ill and fast
Like the vapor trail from a glock blast
A white rapper in the vein of Bubba Sparxxx
I tune in to Smackdown to see Cena's remarks.

So in other words, It's the Protobomb/Protoplex.

Why include Undertaker over Rock? Yeah, he's got a lot of wins, but only one main event, and one that drew the lowest buyrate ever. Rock's had three matches w/ Austin, plus a classic with Hogan that nobody expected.
