According to the latest TV Guide, all of the following late-night personalities have contracts that are up this year: Conan O'Brien, Bill Maher, Dave Letterman, and Jon Stewart. What does this mean to us? Apparently, Fox is attempting to woo Conan away from NBC with an 11PM timeslot and an assload of cash, and if they can't get him, they want Stewart. How cool would it be, since Andy Richter and Conan would be on the same network, to have them doing the show together again? It's just not the same without Andy.
Dave's staying put and Maher's getting fired most likely, BTW.

I agree they should get Conan and Andy back together if Conan goes to Fox, though personally of what I've seen of those timeslot shows when I've been over in the USA I prefer Craig Kilborn. On a related note, I think that if Bill Maher is sacked (which he shouldnt be IMO) he should get Conan's old slot if/when he moves to Fox.
Quick bits: Conan a bit earlier would rock. Bill Maher shouldn't be canned, but I can understand that ABC/Disney executives are assholes, so whatever. Jon Stewart should never leave Comedy Central. If anything, they should see if that show could work with more airtime.
Conan at 11 would be very cool. I bet he stays with NBC tho. Much more stability there. He's already proven he can succeed in that timeslot and NBC has rewarded him for it.
I've never been too much of a Maher fan, but wonder if ABC does fire him, would they try to replace him with Dennis Miller to get him off MNF, or build his fanbase for his gig there?
I doubt Miller would go for that, he already had a turn at nightly talk show and hated it (well, so did FOX). He seems perfectly content with his HBO show which is only weekly and only a half hour, which, BTW, started back up again last week.

Man, I'd settle for just reruns of old Night After Night with Alan Havey shows. Or just the big cliffhanger when Havey had to kill Nick Bakay to save the Audience of One. I wouldn't mind seeing Sports Monster again, either.
I heard that when Conan goes to FOX and reunites with Andy Richter at 11 p.m., they're going to say "Mission Accomplished" and then thow Bill Mahr around like a lawn dart because he never sells and is holding the younger guys down.
I saw a poster on FOX.com that shows Conan and Andy together, so it must be true.
I also heard Comedy Central is purposefully muting the crowd chants for John Stewart during the Daily Show because they don't want him to get over even though he's the best performer in the history of the network and comedy in general.

Closest you'll get to that is Malcolm in the Middle, which has had both Higgins Boys and Gruber in various roles, writing or acting. No Supercar, though.
It appears as if our boy is staying put to the tune of $8 mil a year. Good for him.
My favourite moment from the early days of the show was the first sweeps month thing they did where they made a promo for a fictional show that looked kind of like Dallas, only it was set in Seattle, and Conan was the J.R. type guy everybody hated. That ruled.
Wish I wasn't so old and could still stay up and watch Conan. Hell, I wish I could stay up to watch Dave these days.
